    Actually it was the federal reserve removing the gold standard and literally taking the publics gold from them.

    • @eschcal9839
      @eschcal9839 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      True. The whole world followed. No nation could ever amass enough gold to cover their actual wealth. When it came down to the wire, the government as a corporation to the world wouldn't have anything to bargain with at the time as it was the Depression. Nobody could ever get the gold required, it simply doesn't exist. So people were given notes of debt - and their wealth seized. For less than it was worth. Gold is fungible - it will always be worth its weight, and can be traded for any nations notes of debt. It appriceates and follows inflation over time to match it. Notes of debt do not. An example, is if you won 5 million dollars, but you are offered 5.5 million in 5 years time. If you calculate the value of a dollar now, and deduce its value 5 years from now, it will be worth less. Right now, 5 million is worth more than 5.5 will be 5 years from now. That is why companies don't leave money just sit idle - it just loses value, so you buy fungible commodities and such and when they readjust to a worthwhile price you sell em' and buy more.

      Lol, 1971 when the US had no choice but to rob the world after spending a fortune on both Vietnam and the cold war with Russia, although Britain, Germany and Austria also decided to pull out and then rejoin during the 1930s. Not sure what to make of that system but it has to be better than the Fiat currencies we use today. Basically whoever can manipulate and trick the system the most is the winner!

    • @zawwin1846

      To be fair, if they didn’t the entire economy would collapse into next Great Depression. The gold standard is good for smaller scale economy, but couldn’t handle the strain of the fast growing economy of our era.

    From ancient times to currently people occasionally discover hords of Roman treasure. A chest found that was thought to be a legion or two’s payroll buried during the roman civil war. It was worth billions upon billions. Then the Spanish treasure fleet that was sunk on the Florida cost had hundreds of billions in treasure.

Some dvds I remember watching literally showed the US airforce and military killing innocent civilians and the old narrator from the 50s or 60s saying "we need to blow up those farm houses(in Italy or elsewhere) just in case. You never know if they are secret bases and they arent no friends of mine."... Literally blowing up farms and regular houses and talking about how they were supposed to use all of their ammo and or bombs before they return on anything the pilot suspected regardless if true military target or not. I think that was about the "Thunderbolts" aircraft documentary i have.

      Experts said it’s reasonable to ask why, if the U.S. is trying to lower prices at the pump back home, it would sell oil to overseas companies. But these experts offered a straightforward answer: That’s the law, and that’s how the international oil market works.

    • @christiancsq
      @christiancsq 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      When an administration orders the release of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, “the Department of Energy puts out a notice of sale that alerts companies that oil will be made available for purchase,” said Hugh Daigle, a professor in the University of Texas-Austin Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering. “Companies then bid competitively on the oil, and the winning bidders receive the oil and the bid price.” The winning company works out with the Energy Department when and how it will take possession of the oil.
      Sometimes the winning bidders may be U.S. refiners, Daigle said, in which case the oil quickly boosts U.S. gasoline supplies. But in other cases, he said, foreign companies win the bid. This increases the supply of global crude oil and, eventually, helps lower prices in the United States.
      The law does not bar foreign companies in good standing from competing in such auctions.
