Bought mine in june 22' PanAm special. I have only 4000 miles on it because there are so many electronic issues. The dealership's say that Milwaukee requires so much data before they will solve the issues or let/tell how to fix it. Meanwhile owners are going/paying months on motorcycles they don't have.
Stock V-Rod looked weird and it was too ahead of its time for that eras demographic that was highly into the air cooled motors and traditional looking, sounding, and feeling cruisers.
The V-rod has proven to very reliable and willy G and his crew built a bike that actually kept up with modern sport bikes with a top speed of 150 MPH it was the ice breaker that Harley Davidson needed and it was successful the bike ran on show room floors across the country for well over 15 years. The new generation of this design will last for a long time. The Sportster S will be a huge success. How ever I don't see the live wire doing so good because electric vehicles are at this time not practical because the lack of charging stations.
Only Harley Davidson could call something like this Revolution, as other manufacturers have had engines with all these features for decades. Porsche moved away from air cooled engines due to emissions many years ago, and virtually everything has had four valves per cylinder for decades, even a lot of diesels.
That's pretty much what I thought as soon as I seen the title I haven't even watched the video, it's like congratulations you're about 30 years late and 30 years behind the Japanese at doing so if not more honestly
Perfected the V-Twin...oh...you mean like what the Japanese did 2 decades ago? I look at the Revolution Engine and just see an upgraded V-Rod engine. (1.) Watercooled Engines are more efficient, (2.) Overhead Valves and CAMs and getting away from Push Rods are more efficient, (3.) increasing the angle from 45 degrees to 60 degrees results in a better balanced engine with less vibration. Less vibration means greater reliability and smaller parts needed and smaller tolerances needed: resulting in more power. The Sportster S is looking more like the late Victory Octane bike or the Indian Scout. Traction Control and ABS along with 4 valves per cylinder has been standard on bikes by other manufacturers for a long time. Ditto with using the Engine as a stressed member of the frame. Harley as usual is way behind other manufacturers and is only now catching up. Want a cheap Big V-Twin? With plenty of power rivalling today's HD 114 M8 engines but with better reliability? Look no further than the old and discontinued Honda VTX1800.
Hmm..a reliable 150hp engine by HD. Why would they not put this in the touring bikes. Sounds like that should have replaced the m8? You wouldn't have to do all those stage upgrades just to break 100hp.
High horsepower isn't necessarily good for long hauling, doing a cross country trip and having your engine barely above idle while on the highway is why those m8s are nice. They want to keep the rest of there old customer base happy, while trying to bring in the younger gen of riders. It's one of those things where now you have the option of getting a Harley with real horsepower but a lot of Harley riders don't give a shit about horsepower. So finally they are able to keep multiple gens of riders happy.....ish
@@seanbutler2291 good point.. I agree. I must say I do like my M8 when touring on the hwy. Out of the gate not so much so I upgraded with stage 2 which has made a difference for me personally. 👍
To answer the question, NO! All the V twins with the exception of the modern made Vincent recreations and perhaps Ducati are clunky, tooth rattling, overweight monsers.
Harley didn't perfect anything, already two decades Japanese brands make absolutely perfect liquid cool V twin engines, fuel injected. Harley is getting late in this technology 😂😂
I do not get it. Harley knows about S&S , Dewy and more. With some cams, Dewy heads, and other bolt ons, a Sportster can exceed 100hp at the wheels. No need for this 4V electronic cam phasing BSBSBS stuff. I do not get it.
They have gone this route to meet emissions requirements. That’s also why the engine is water cooled. As emissions standards have become more strict Harley has had a hard time meeting those standards with there traditional air cooled v-twin. They have used a bunch of methods to avoid water cooling there big motors but it’s going to catch up to them soon. They are starting in the part of the market where buyers will care the least about the new changes.
I do get it. If I go out and spend 10k plus on a bike, I want it to be fun and reliable out of the box. I don't want to have to then go and blow another couple grand to pull the motor and get it beefed up on my brand new bike just so I can outrun someone on a scout 60. This is a smart move on Harley's part to help them sell bikes to people who don't already have one foot in the grave.
@@mahindramax2656 yeah, a bike with those parts wouldn't pass emissions, so they aren't going to build it. Even lawnmowers have emissions regs (noticed how the 3.5hp super cheap flathead push mowers disappeared about 2 years ago.) Couldn't meet emissions, everything moved to ohv. Doesn't mean i like it, just agreeing with why.
It is ALL about emissions man. And the current Administration is coming for aftermarket parks. I expect soon we won't be able to modify anything without being given tickets or thrown in jail. In some states they have passed a "modified exhaust" law ... so no matter what you did you are illegal unless it is factory OEM parts.
If it proves itself as a reliable mill then the power its capable of will be hard to ignore. Personally I can't wait to test one out.

The engine looks like a great step forward. I’m actually interested to see what they place it in next after the Sportster.
I like how everyone is trying to figure out electric and hd is just now figuring out gas
finally an engine with the times
Informative video. Let's hope the engine is 100 per cent reliable.
Nice Engine. Reminds me a lot of the V-Rod 1250. 🤔 Funny how everyone loves it now but hated the V-Rod.

Harley Davidson finally doing what Eric Buell was doing 20 years ago .. Can Harley Davidson save Harley Davidson ?
I like the twins Honda does the ones where both cylinders are next to each other at the same angle and direction
It’s called a inline twin
@@silverslvr5185 Or a parallel twin.
H-D had help from Porsche Design in the past - even with the V-Rod which was liquid cooled.
I can't wait to see XR1200.
Nice review. Good work. Interesting content.
I wish someone would show what the 30° split pin crank looks like

What about engine upgrades like bigger pistons and so on for custom builders
The engine sounds like a well built engine instead of "hertiage™" and unreliability

The Revolution Max is an engineering marvel designed to last for ever
Definitely looks like a Ducati motor ive taken the sportster S for ride and im impressed
great job Kase.
Would love to see how its perform turbo charged on a softail
Wow! Water cooling! What will Harley think of next?
They should of made those nightsters with a m8.
a 90 degree v engine is the right way to do it. Stupid to build it just for sound. Don't forget to carry a can of oil.
They ditched V-Rod in the past to invent a wheel again?
It has the character of a blender and the reliability of a Yugo......oh yeah they're still really EXPENSIVE !!!
It's one thing to say 153hp it's entirely different to simply lie to customers.
Trash the old tractor engines!!! About time HD!! Welcome to 2022 !!!
Now that you figured out the engine its time to figure out that price for the sportster at least (pan am is not too bad). 🤑

Less Profit for HD and the Dealers but they were 30 years behind all the other Brands in technology ..

sweet engine
Thanks for not dropping it because there isn't any way to pick up near 600lbs by yourself.
Im a going to have to stop buying bmw’s and ducati’s and finally buy my first Harley now that they have this new engine?
They sound like a Honda.
If they did perfect the V-Twin they are about 30 years late and behind the Japanese at doing so
Harley needs to keep the sound and camshaft upgrades that motor is a dud.

Harley you want to survive……. Make sport bikes like buell did, y’all know y’all screwed him multiple times

Too complicated. Time will tell you this.
