  • Check out my review of the REDCAMP Windproof Backpacking Stove. This is a reasonably priced, light-weight, compact little backpacking stove that will hold a good size pot or frying pan.

    Very pleased with this stove, probably 15 hikes with it. Most definitely gets the job done. Very affordable. Definite thumbs up on this one.

    Nice stove, but needs a preheat tube for Winter use!

    About 5-10 years ago, I had a similar low level stove, it folded slightly differently so it got much smaller, I'm trying to find a new one as my sister burnt through the armoured cable and I think it has been disposed of sadly

    And a special tip for those who do a lots of canoe or kayak,, buy a jetboil,, the pot can be secured to the burner,,and you can cook safely in the canoe or kayak,,which other stove cannot really do properly without risk.

      I would not encourage anybody to use any type of cookstove while out in a canoe or kayak. That just sounds like an accident waiting to happen.

    Thanks ! Been looking at the optimus vega and windpro 2. This is soooo much cheaper yet seems to work well. I am worried about cheap overseas build quality especially if its gas (safety) and your primary stove for a trip. Great review !

      I was not sure about the quality when I purchased this stove, but I've been pleasantly surprised by the solid build quality and good performance of this little stove.

      Interesting...I've only used the butane on that stove. Let me know how the propane works out for you.

    How tall is the gas regulator, from the bottom where it screws to a can of gas, to the top. Need the height to know if it will pass vertically through a slotted hole windbreaker.

    • @TheOneCanoe
      @TheOneCanoe  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That would be 3/4 of an inch, or about 2 cm.

    Bonjour is it a good stove ?
    Is it windproof ?

    • @TheOneCanoe
      @TheOneCanoe  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really. There is a small "wind-baffle", but like many entry level stoves that claim to be windproof, it's pretty useless in a strong wind

    Well it all depends?…If you are traveling ‘solo’ or with others, if you are solo, there is no need for such a large pot. And no backpacker is going to carry such a large ot to boil 2 cups of water.

    • @TheOneCanoe
      @TheOneCanoe  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We’ll.. the review was about the stove, not the pot. Obviously, only take the size of pot required by you or your group.

    Remember that a stove is pretty much useless,, learn to light and cook with fire ,,this will be your secondary stove .

    • @TheOneCanoe
      @TheOneCanoe  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I always enjoy cooking over a fire. Nothing beats the taste of fresh caught fish grilled over a wood fire, but the unfortunate reality is that more often than not, parks are initiating fire bans due to dry weather, and some will not even issue you a permit unless you can show them you are packing a stove with you.
