  • Neptune is a gas giant with a lots of moons, but what if neptune had one more moon? In this crazy scenario i take a look at what could happened if Earth started heading towards Neptune.

    Dreksler's specialty: posit an astronomical scenario the average mind would never imagine, and then proceed to explore the resulting ramifications more thoroughly than the average mind would ever consider. Confirmed: this is yet another classic Dreksler Astral video.

    If Earth became a moon of Neptune, it would be the biggest moon in our solar system and one of the few moons with a real atmosphere. The only real way for people to survive on this new Earth moon would probably be to live inside underground bunkers, where it would be much warmer than on the ground. Whole thoroughfares, dwellings, shops, eateries, farms, etc would have to be built underground, human survival on a frozen Earth would be hard, but far from impossible!

      But, would you WANT to survive.on earth if it became a moon of Neptune?
      Imagine all the humans agreeing to stop reproducing. Because it's just to difficult to survive that way, so why bring in more people to suffer. So, everyone lives their lives while fighting to survive and pregnancy is prevented. No children born as people grow older. Then old...
      Now, you're the last human left alive deep underground. Outside it is a frozen wasteland with a very, very dim sun shining mockingly in the distance. Solaris is a small fraction of its former burning glory; just a bright star. Banishment from all hope.
      Buried beneath miles of ice are lands that were once verdant and green. The oceans hold their secrets which - never fully discovered - now are frozen tombs which have frozen and crushed all life within. Anyone seeing this "moon" would never guess that it was once the prize marble in the bag.
      The last human died a few years ago. You know that if you crawled to the surface, you'd see above you a melencholy blue planet pulling Earth in a slow waltz. No one to hear your sad lamenting, either
      You're the last person who ever lived, breathed, walked, loved or died on the planet. Earth, always a lonely traveler in an immeasurable universe has become alone.

    Dubai has an indoor ski slope. Just as heat can be kept out with massive amounts of insulation and cold kept in, the reverse is also true. Therefore, by building heavily insulated areas and maintaining the heat within life may still be possible on the Earth. Given sufficient time, thousands of square miles of the Earths surface could be covered. As an example, the Tesla factory covers 5.3 million square feet. Obviously, this would have to be multiplied many thousands of times.

    If earth became a moon of Neptune or any giant planet, earth's gravity will change forever due to charge exchange between earth, neptune and its moons. Yes because gravity is electrical in nature and not inherent property of mass. Watch video "Wallace Thornhill: The Long Path to Understanding Gravity | EU2015". You will see these charge exchanges between planets and moons as extremely dangerous electrical discharges. Once the balance is achieved, earth will start orbiting neptune. Collision is less likely but can happen.

      @@WEndro333, you actually do have a point there. After all, we have white dwarves and planets much bigger revolve around them. So, you are right that a larger object can orbit around a smaller object.

    Even though Neptune is bigger than earth, Neptune has around the same gravity as earth, so they would actually orbit each other.

      Sigh. No.
      Conservation of linear momentum would rule that out.

    Seems likely that Tidal Forces would make it impossible for advanced life to even survive - deep sea or otherwise. If Jupiter's moon Io is used as a model of the interaction between a massive primary and a subordinate moon, the Earth would be so violently rocked by Neptune's gravity that the atmosphere would be altered dramatically and, probably, so quickly that the higher forms would have insufficient time to adapt. It's also likely that earthquakes & possibly even volcanism would be increased so greatly that both the land surface AND the ocean's floor would be essentially sterilized of all but single-celled organisms. Maybe I'm dead wrong, but I don't think so ...

    The part where you said people could survive in under water bases is way too optimistic lol. All life on Earth would go extinct except for extremophiles around hydrothermal vents

    We would need to pump heat from thermal vents into caves or domes to house humans. Earth even frozen would still be more viable then Triton.

    Triton would also be impacted by the disruption to Neptune's moons, so it wouldn't safe either.

    I do not understand where people get their misconceptions, technically a moon is a body that is signifacantly smaller than the planet. It also orbits the planet. Luna is one sixth the mass and size of Terra and NASA (a long time ago) discovered that both Terra (our world) and Luna (what most people call our moon) revolve around a singular gravitational point. That point lies just beneath the crust of the earth. Technically Terra/Luna is actually a double planet, just like there are binary stars orbiting around a gravitational point, so do we.

    • @dpterminusreal
      @dpterminusreal ปีที่แล้ว

      it's only binary if the barycentre lies outside of both objects, so earth-moon isnt a binary

    Omg, what if I'm one of those 1% who survive on Neptune's new moon " Earth".
    Wouldn't it be fun to jump from earth to triton and to other moons of Neptune! Haha! 🤣

      Advance Kashmir Titan is Saturn's moon though.

    • @dpterminusreal
      @dpterminusreal ปีที่แล้ว

      you wouldn't be able to jump to other moons because a: the earth's gravity would not change considerably, and b: you would enter orbit around neptune if you managed anyway so you couldn't just jump and find yourself on proteus or something idk

  • @vsmoraes0
    @vsmoraes0 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Have you considered the tidal friction a corpse as massive as Neptune would cause on Earth while being so close? Such friction could generate quite a lot of heat, though I still don't think it'll come close to habitable conditions.
