    Sir..i have a doubt that at the ridge the jetstream is creating clockwise or anticyclonic circulation in the upper troposphere then there should be anticlockwise or cyclonic circulation on earth and vice versa at the trough..??

  • @tomandjerry9299

    @18:41 - Upper and lower both flow have same direction of rotation (either both cyclonic or both anticyclonic), but you have mentioned upper layers as cyclonic and lower as anticyclonic or vise versa... Please clarify the doubt....
    Thanks for wonderful explanation :)

    at 13:46 , you say that Subtropical jet streams are stronger in summers but as per Majid Hussain and some sources on internet, they have mentioned that Sub tropical jet streams are stronger in Winters. Please clarify!!

    • @PoorMansFriend
      @PoorMansFriend  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That was a mistake on my part.
      Subtropical jet streams in both the hemispheres are stronger in winters due to greater temperature contrast between the corresponding air masses.

    At around 14 minutes. There is one correction. Polar vortex weakens in winter due to less temperature contrast which shifts it upto usa and England between two air masses and opposite should be for sub tropical jet.
    Hence
    STJ strong in winter, meander in summer
    POLAR JET strong in summer meander in winter.

    Q. Why Polar Jet Streams are stronger than Subtropical Jet Streams?

    • @sharika4544
      @sharika4544 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jet streams are due to coriolis forces and since coriolis forces are stronger in polar region than in tropical and equator therefore polar Jet streams are stronger than sub tropical jet streams

    • @kumar6159
      @kumar6159 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No due to absence of frictional force.. direct corolis force affect wind in 90 degree.. that means along the rotation of the Earth.. that in turn means.. west to east .. that's why they are called westerlies
