Wow.. this is the most efficient and wholesome lecture on jet stream on TH-cam....not only for GS but also useful for optional... every other TH-cam videos....discussimg one point missing other... but this lecture covered topics related to cyclonegenesis + jet streaks These videos are a gem....!!!
At around 14 minutes. There is one correction. Polar vortex weakens in winter due to less temperature contrast which shifts it upto usa and England between two air masses and opposite should be for sub tropical jet. Hence STJ strong in winter, meander in summer POLAR JET strong in summer meander in winter.
Best video on the ...internet for jet streams. At 3:55 , i was clapping . I have watched lot of videos for this point. Wow I could find it. Thank you sir. Very great efforts.
he said the turning of air is due to less denser air on upper layer of troposphere bt the air on upper layer of troposhere would be denser because of cold air
@18:41 - Upper and lower both flow have same direction of rotation (either both cyclonic or both anticyclonic), but you have mentioned upper layers as cyclonic and lower as anticyclonic or vise versa... Please clarify the doubt.... Thanks for wonderful explanation :)
at 13:46 , you say that Subtropical jet streams are stronger in summers but as per Majid Hussain and some sources on internet, they have mentioned that Sub tropical jet streams are stronger in Winters. Please clarify!!
That was a mistake on my part. Subtropical jet streams in both the hemispheres are stronger in winters due to greater temperature contrast between the corresponding air masses.

Sir..i have a doubt that at the ridge the jetstream is creating clockwise or anticyclonic circulation in the upper troposphere then there should be anticlockwise or cyclonic circulation on earth and vice versa at the trough..??
sir...u teach very well...but one thing is disrupting your flow...and u must b knowing abt it very well...i.e u unreasonably pause at some points which is really very annoying and impeding....but above all...I truly appreciate your effort...

Sir, Please correct me if I am wrong. Are jet streams found only in westerlies? and if yes, how come we have jet stream in the trade easterly jet coming from tibet to masacrene high basin?
No due to absence of frictional force.. direct corolis force affect wind in 90 degree.. that means along the rotation of the Earth.. that in turn means.. west to east .. that's why they are called westerlies
Jet streams are due to coriolis forces and since coriolis forces are stronger in polar region than in tropical and equator therefore polar Jet streams are stronger than sub tropical jet streams
@@suvamkumar3370 because air could not go all the way up it reaches critical point where it is unable for it to go further so it has to be deflected and find the high pressure because it is an air current which travel to equitorial low 0 to sup tropical high 30
@youtube/JRrM6Inrhn4?t=995 in northern hemisphere, if there are clockwise swirls then it creates a High-pressure cell which is anticyclonic in nature. Hence at the ground level Low pressure must be developed.
everything is okay but the way he explains is so poor, its confusing!!! if you can try explaing in hindi/hinglish and prepare a script beforehand.i found this issue in every video please do something about it

Sir please tell me
why two different air masses is prerequiaite for jet stream formation?
sir ur contents are good but the way u explain its like u r reading out from another book with nervousness.....
Thank you sir
After 3 years
Now this concept of jet stream clear for me
Can you please explain why air turns towards pole in Hadley cell and then back to surface at tropic of cancer giving rise to a complete cell.
@Ramees Ahmed Why does it move towards pole from tropopause. That's my question
@@suvamkumar3370 Bcz of high pressure created at tropopause

easterly jet stream is temporary bcoz it devlpd due to access heating of tibetan plateau it dissapear during on set of winter hop ur doubt clear
what a lecture sirr ...
love ittt
Hello dear - do you have a video on western disturbance ?
Thanks !
+manwinder singh No not yet
what is rossby waves ?
Does Jet streams meander vertically also?suppose some part on lower height and other on higher height.
www.godkingscenario.com/images/usa_jet_stream.jpg
What is the difference between rossby waves and jet streams???
Jetstreams can be straight or meandering. The meandering one's are called Rosby wasves.
Ur meandiring with concepts
Sir thanks sir. I have one doubt. since westerlies flow in the lower level of troposphere, wont polar jet stream flow from east to west?

Thank You sir for Comprehensive coverage but please explain with some more clarity
Confusing
please be clear with the concept,as it creates disinterest among viewers when video isnt clear

Jet streams are due to coriolis forces and since coriolis forces are stronger in polar region than in tropical and equator therefore polar Jet streams are stronger than sub tropical jet streams
@@sharika4544 Thanks. And i also got to know one more reason that the temperature difference is much stronger in polar regions than mid latitudes.
