I'm looking for a laptop that number one, starts and operates after a year of use. I've had several including HP and Compaq that just plain died and I never used them for anything other than youtube, audacity and storing photos. I don't want any fancy lights or cartoon like curves, I'm not going to be running any plugins or virtual instruments. I won't be doing any heavy editing either. I want to hit record, record an instrument in one take and have it show up. If the take sucks I'll redo the entire take so no punch ins. I want to be able to multi track instrument over instrument and I realize that depends on the DAW and I want to be able to add a phone video of one or two of the instruments. Maybe a split screen of drums and vocals. Something very simple. The video doesn't have to be 1080p, 360 will do just fine. I just want the video to clearly identify who is playing the instrument. The sound should be good enough to play for someone to listen too. So with that said I'm hoping someone can recommend me a machine and possibly a DAW. I was using audacity for audio back in 2010 or so and I liked it but it went corrupt on me and I wasn't able to fix it or re install it. I've no idea why. In the past I've had issues however with functions not working, This input wouldn't show up or that output was grey and I couldn't select it, and I've had issues where I arm a new track, get set to do a guitar over an earlier drum track and it records the drums to the second track. Go in to try and fix it but it just doesn't do what I ask. Any ideas? The frustration factor is in the mid 80's.

Everything I've read and watch indicates you'll need 2 different laptops, or you'll need a full on high end PC. For sound production your not looking for graphics and video as much and you want all your resources for plug ins and audio related. For video production it's a whole other application. For instance, a podcaster's, and a (music) producer's studio have different focus. My guess is if you want both, you're leaving budget prices for a laptop, not to mention gear. But I am just in my research phase for music production right now. Google "best budget laptop for music production" and "best budget laptop for video production " and you will see how different the two really are.
Hi 👋 how you? I'm a total beginner to learn a daw.my doubt is which processor is good for me i3 core processor is good for music Daws? Plse reply brother.im totally confused
Clock speed is very important for music production. I wouldn't go below 3GHz base clock personally. Better to find a well built business laptop 2nd hand IMO.
Apple but what ever you can afford and what ever you are comfortable with like now i want a macbook but im broke and 14 years old so i gotta get a pc but at the end of the day pc gives more power for cheap and apple gives a better look
@@flossyEnt412 yeah or in some states 14 year old can work im finna try to aplly for mcdonalds because any money is money tbh hopefully when that 15 min wage apply to kids working too
The ram, storage, and screen size are all things you can upgrade... Getting a 27in screen isn't that difficult or expensive and most of these newer laptops will connect to smart tvs. The CPU well those are integrated into the motherboard. So unless you can de-solder and know which processing chip will match your mb then yeah your stuck with that... Kinda crazy ram was number 1 as it's the easiest to update and most use external HD's with storing their samples or recordings. So that's just a matter of using a USB port... Odd
How about for tascam dp 004 digital 4 tracks it needs a 2.0 USB and sd card reader which laptop works for this its a simple set up its just a mini digital 4 track could you help me make the right decision please.
When you say music production you mean including singing right? I bought a MacBook Pro 2011 and couldn’t even download GarageBand so it was a waste of money!
Well, apart from Software (which could be fixable) I really don't like these old MacBook recommendations because they are mostly based on nostalgic Apple myths that are not based on actual facts about hardware. An outdated processor or a laptop with not enough RAM and storage will not suddenly perform miracles just because you have an Apple logo on it. I have seen this with friends ... The strong hype for Apple in the music production niche led almost always to bad purchases of laptops that really weren't worth the money and/or incompatible with the setup (leading to other purchases of dongles, new controllers etc.). Also: Many people shouldn't even buy a laptop and rather opt for cheap and way more powerful desktop instead if they are using it mostly at home anyways.
thought I'd say that i bought an Acer aspire 5 Ryzen 5 BUT it's not Full HD and the comparison with my Acer Nitro 5 is huge. The 1360x768 Aspire graphics suck big time so a FHD is the way to go. I've got 3 x 2TB SSDs on my Nitro 5 with 32 Gig RAM and it's pretty cool but the colours suck but the Aspire 5 Ryzen 5 with 16 Gig RAM is I'D SAY just as swift IF NOT QUICKER than my Nitro 5 but the Aspire 5 had got 2 1TB SSDs on it. I got the Nitro brand new but the Aspire was 2nd hand and DEBATABLE so I'd say go for New if you can. INFO, On the Aspire 5 with an SSD 1TD my music software and DAWS open up like greased lightning but on the very same laptop with HDD the same software opens up like PAINT DRYING and it's so frustrating go for SSD
I bought a brand new hp pavilion a few years back to serve as a laptop that was serviceable for music production and some basic games. It turns out it does neither well. Everything is slow, the audio sounds like it was ran through a bit cruncher, it heats up within minute, I went to get it looked at but that didn’t seem to help. I remember it took about an hour just to open a cakewalk ( I didn’t even have any vsts yet ). I urge you all to avoid this laptop, my phone runs better than it.
How old is “to old” for the MacBook ?? I’m seeing some for 400-700 I’m interested in but there from 2011 -2013 would that be ok to use flstudio /photoshop on?
Bro my Lenovo Ideapad 320 can’t handle more than one (huge) plug-in in Ableton... I’m able to load just a single instance of Omnisphere or Kontakt and that’s it.
I have a Lenovo I do not no nothing about making beats or recording vocals I would like to learn but they tell me I need mac book pro because my Lenovo I can not make beats or record with it not sure why and its a good laptop i spent 800 dollars on it around 8 years ogo when i bought it brand new at Microsoft store . I don't even know what course to take to learn how to record vocals ,, or make beats youtube does not give a full tutorial ,, I have to jump from one youtube clip on to another to another none of them give a full tutorial,, on how to install speakers mic to use then how to level sound and so on on before learning how to record I'm willing to pay but they never brake down from scratch to finish,, I wish they had like a full 6 months full course ,, to teach step by step ,, from showing how to set up mini studio in your room with everything how to plug cables the mic the speakers sound checking through mic etc.. the whole 9 yards every small detail counts from start to finish.. ,,then now learning how to use laptop to record ,, mix ,, track download beat learning how to set up recoding mic phone for good sound through headphones testing good sound ,,a full 6 months course that after you learned that 6 months course you be ready to do it all on your own and learn more tricks or whatever after that but at least learn the most important and that they learn how to record a good quality track with that course all on they own after completing that online course. so from set up your own mini studio to learning how to use it in full all in one course with a brake down step 1 video 1 step 2 video 2 step 3 video 3 even if it takes 100 steps and 100 videos,,but it be worth paying for full course I'm sure many people in this world will pay 500 dollars that beening a great deal package that for sure be well worth great investment ,,some one that is a professional that has proven his good quality of work with a minimum of 7 years experience and can take those 7 years and put it all in that 6 months will be very well worth it .. don't know where that tutorial full course is i know its not easy to make but hopefully someone can make that happen online one day ..with a great deal like that ..

Google "best budget laptop for music production" and "best budget laptop for video production " and you will see how different the two really are.
@@1satisfiedmind Thanks for the good advice

Asus Vivo book 15 i3core 11th gen good for me ? I'm a total beginner
An older gaming laptop from hp omen, asus or others can be more powerful than an older macbook
Clock speed is very important for music production. I wouldn't go below 3GHz base clock personally.
Better to find a well built business laptop 2nd hand IMO.
just wanted to ask, what DAW did you use in your thumbnail?
Cubase 10 Pro 👍
What desktops or iMacs/Macs and which is better Mac or PC.
Mac Apple All Day
Apple but what ever you can afford and what ever you are comfortable with like now i want a macbook but im broke and 14 years old so i gotta get a pc but at the end of the day pc gives more power for cheap and apple gives a better look
@@tbgquanboy679 True you right got to buy what you can afford at 14 you can't afford apple unless your parents Rich
@@flossyEnt412 yeah or in some states 14 year old can work im finna try to aplly for mcdonalds because any money is money tbh hopefully when that 15 min wage apply to kids working too
@@tbgquanboy679 Buy what you can for now you now later down you will upgrade to Mac
Odd
Are any of these good for editing as well
@@sepptex160 probably not, youre gonna want a good gpu for that
How did u connect ur microphone to the Lenovo ideapad ? I connect it to the laptop and it doesn’t detect it?
How about for tascam dp 004 digital 4 tracks it needs a 2.0 USB and sd card reader which laptop works for this its a simple set up its just a mini digital 4 track could you help me make the right decision please.
Ram 8 core 5 generation 6 is that okay
Ed..asus vivobook s14 good for music production?
How much does the Asus Vivobook cost?
Link in description
@@Xul hey man, what’s the BEST CHEAP laptop to record/produce music on?
(Under $500)??
What do you say about this laptop for music production ? hp laptop 15 Dw1212nia
What’s a good asus vivibook
Yes, Asus Vivobook is good!!
Big UP South Africa
My laptop is the IdeaPad and I have terrible latency with my Scarlett interface. I'm like a full second behind :/
Is the ZenBook a good option?
What about a MacBook Air?
No no no... Macbook Air is not a good option for music production 👀
Which vivo is this
This might sound crazy, but have you ever heard or saw someone use a tablet as the computer? For say on the go or when traveling?
You should listen to the album The Fall by Gorillaz. Albarn apparently produced the whole album on an iPad while on tour !
What about HP chromebook for beginner?
thought I'd say that i bought an Acer aspire 5 Ryzen 5 BUT it's not Full HD and the comparison with my Acer Nitro 5 is huge.
Thanks! I was searching for this kind of critism actually! 😜
I be back when I don’t have a $1.37 in the bank 😂
will a i5 and 8gb work for music production?
Yes
I'm looking for an upgrade from my Dell 15
what about the hp with ryzen3 4gb ram 128gb ssd
How old is “to old” for the MacBook ?? I’m seeing some for 400-700 I’m interested in but there from 2011 -2013 would that be ok to use flstudio /photoshop on?
@prodbyedizoo thanks I figured , I decided to stick with a more recent PC
Whats the best out of the 5 ?
god damn i’m on a poormans budget not a rich mans budget💀
I got $550 what type of laptop could I get that would be suitable
Did you not watch the damn video?

Is i5 11 gen with 8gb ram nad 556gb ssd enough for music prod... Or I want to look for ryzen varients..?
No, these are good budget specs for a production laptop!

Bro my Lenovo Ideapad 320 can’t handle more than one (huge) plug-in in Ableton...
I’m able to load just a single instance of Omnisphere or Kontakt and that’s it.
Kontakt kills RAM and CPU.
This is literally the same list from 2020..
Why are you recommending 8gb of ram laptops?😤
Fyi the asus is only i3 not i5
Depends on what model you're getting
Hey ,everyone knows if ryzen 5 5600h is ok for music production.i heard something about compatibility problems with midi keyboards and plug ins
fuck man i just want a laptop to make fire on
This guy looks and sounds like Ed Skreins younger, gayer cousin.

Budget ehh?
