Thank you, Tall. Great advice. Some really good advice. If I might add something in place of a carrying a rag, is to carry a towel (old times riders always do), and a pack of wipes, 1st aid kit.
First aid kit, I should have included that.
Instead of carrying a towel, I carry an imitation shammy. It takes up a little less space, plus it has a plastic container for storage.

Great advice! Going from Central Cali to Seattle this week. Portable air compressor and rain gear awaiting pickup at Amazon drop box, need to pickup more tools and now(thanks Tall) I rethought wearing the Sedici Sistema Carbon II helmet with my Cardo packtalk slim vs the Shoeii RF-SR. Also gonna carry some oil since my 2014 leaks a lil.

Thank you! On hot days we freeze our water bottles and have cold water. I like and never heard of the mustard trick, but it is something I am going to try to remember when winter mellows out here.

We use life 360 to track my kids as well! Great app to have for traveling for safety reasons as well like you stated! Im not into helmets much but bought one for my ride to Sturgis from Ohio. After this trip I do appreciate and see the benefits of wearing one for long trips! Its a must! I didnt feel as beat up and fatigued from the sun and wind. Great info here, great video

Thanks for the Mustard tip Tall! I don't drink alcoholic beverages but when I Jump outta bed with these excruciating pains of Cramped legs, I have a bottle of Jack Daniels Whiskey which kills cramps immediately by taking one shot! Now I don't need Jack! Just Mr. Mustard! Lol!!!

I love your videos that cover many topics. Harley Davidson motorcycles no matter the year are overly hot , overly labor intensive 1950’s/1960’s technology no matter the new fancy paint jobs.
All other manufacturers have ride modes, better screen technology, liquid cooling and full counter balancing. HD’s Revolution Max format is that upgrade that’s coming like it or not due to ease of maintenance like single oil fill and 1 hole draining.
Great vid Tall! John Maxwell has a vid on how to find your service code. My bike went into limp mode, I found my code, called my mechanic & he told me to do what you said in the video!
Also carry batteries for your key fob. Could be a simple & cheap fix if your bike won’t start. I change my fob battery every spring.🤙

I am looking forward to your other videos, I have been riding HDs since 1973, worked as HD Service Manager for10 years or so. Yeah it’s some great tips there. I’ve been riding cross country for the last 14 years since my wife passed away. For example, last year I left Homosassa Florida and April 15. I went out to Lake Mead pulling my camper behind a bike I camped in Lake Mead, and then I went back to New York State with my other daughter, lives to spend the summer.

Great advice! One of the things I carry as well is a portable air compressor by Lexin. It's compact, helps inflate a tire if the fix-a-flat can runs out, AND if you've stopped for about 30 or so minutes you can recharge your Sena headset.
Awesomeness, keep on keeping on. Wear lighter colors on clothes and PPE. I use a camel hump full of ice, cools and hydrates. Thanks for your videos, two wheels down, be safe
you might want to add a tire plug kit to that list, you can buy the jump starters with a small air pump

Nice, great lessons learned. I carry pretty much most of the same things you spoke of except I really do need a jumper….but I did get a portable tire inflator so I guess its ok. 😂

Great advice. All good advice is learned the hard way. It just takes a little listening to avoid having to give first hand advice. :)
I have a vitamin bottle of potassium i use for cramps. But mustard is great too. Great tips. Portable air pump is nice to have if you changing temperatures a lot. Seems i had to add air every day one trip.
Arriving at my buddy's house after a 36 hrs, 1600 mile trip, things were okay, until I laid down. Twenty-five minutes later, both calves starting cramping really bad. I was dehydrated. I chugged a couple 12 oz. bottles of Gatorade he had on hand and within minutes I was okay again. This Rider is spot-on with experiences and riders' tips. This is a very valuable channel for those planning long trips. For monitoring, I have map sharing with Google maps so family knows where I am.
Great video Tall. On your last point some Dielectric grease on that connector will possibly avoid that limp mode condition.

Great common sense advice there! One other thing that I carry is my stock shift linkage. The first thing I do when I purchase a bike is upgrade the shift linkage. I will then carry the stock ship linkage with me. Because it takes up very little room and invariably someone in your group somewhere along the line will have their's fail and with the simple tools that you can carry, it can be a pretty quick roadside fix. I also carry a tire plug kit. And small air pump so I can make it to a dealership to get another tire.

One thing I want to pass along is , if you reside in a state that has helmet law and you travel to a state that does not, and you remove your helmet and get in an accident your insurance may not cover you.
