I actually never cried playing 1 or 2 either but mostly because I don't cry much. But hearing Mio say "my Noah" broke me. And then the ending happened made me cry. God I love Xenoblade
I love Xenoblade and I have a deep emotional attachment to the series, but the only time it managed to make me cry was just a few tears at the end of Torna
This scene however, absolutely destroyed me and I was completely sobbing
@@nefylia4037 I know the scene you meant. It's an incredible scene of Mythra realizing what she did, that she got affraid of her own power and not only herself, Adam as well. It's a really impactfull scene as well and a great tie-back to why Pyra was sealed within the ship we met her.
I so need to get back to XC2 and re-do the golden country.
Tbh XC1 is kind of just devoid of moments that are real tearjerkers. I think XC2 gets close with the ending, but XC3 Chapter 5 really knocks it out of the park.

Chapter 5 gives everyone trauma, I couldn’t play this game for a whole week after that bombshell. That *”My Noah”* line completely broke me after the big twist
I have consistently cried at the part where Mio says "my Noah" every single time I see it. I'm such a sucker for moments where a character professes their love in a such a raw, unfiltered manner. It was like Mio was claiming "you are mine, and mine alone" and it really sells her conviction.
Yeah but she meant it literally since the Noah she is talking too isnt her Noah lol
This was the first time a game made me ugly cry. Something about Noah absolutely breaking down and the witness all the buildup in the jail leading to the death just broke me.
I was so emotionally drained that I had to wait two days to continue chapter 6.
I love how happy she sounds when she exclaims, “I DID cry!” She was so proud of this game for finally getting her THAT emotional.
As someone who doesn't get phased much, I'd feel the same way. That first ouroborus/ flute scene broke me on music alone
Noah, I swear he has to be one of the strongest MC's emotionally and mentally, seeing him break like that... it hurt me so much bro I swear... like dude Noah.. my heart

I admit I never played any Xenoblade game or know anything about the franchise but I must say I love how they managed to show the emotions on the characters!

Oh yeah the franchise has come a long way since Xenosage and xenoblade 1 and x in terms of characters showing emotion
@@slobertooth1358 idk man the franchise has always been way above average when it come to voice acting only exception being xc2 which was hit by a rushed development and bad voice direction.
@@metroidcypher I was talking the characters actually expressing themselves with facial animation and expressiveness,but yeah the Xeno series a whole has some incredible voice work. Even 2 with it's shortcomings
Yeah true Xenoblade fans won't speak about the chapter 5 ending. It's such an emotional draining moment of the story.
It shows so much growth the characters have gone through, that they have started falling in love and finally coming out with those feelings, eventhough within the game that time they spend together is only been a few months (at least in this time line). The scene is simply heartbreaking and Monolith did an incredible job on this part of the story.

I'm so glad that Elira is playing this game and exposing it to people that otherwise might not play it.
I always keep coming back to this clip every once in a while. This is my introduction to vtubers, when I finished XC3, I was so emotional and happy, but I did not have anyone to talk to about it. I found this clip and I'm happy to see someone so relatable and felt the same towards Xenoblade. I also subscribed to Elira and yeah, it's all good from there. In back-to-back weeks I've seen Finana cry during Honkai & now Elira cry during Xenoblade. It's nice to see the girls playing games they're emotionally invested in like this! ❤️
Now i just note that whole Lazulight has their own favorite game lol, Finana/Honkai, Elira/Xenoblade, Pomu/Metal Gear
when i first played through this on my own, i was very glad it was around 3am at night, because i bawled and bawled my eyes out during this scene, and afterwards i just stared at the "would you like to save" screen. even just watching elira's reaction, i still cry and just stare at my screen for a while. i fucking love this game and i love the xenoblade chronicles series

I'm a crybaby, but even then I didn't cry with 1 and 2, I felt a lot of emotions playing those games. 3 though... that shit destroyed me multiple times.
TBH I feel Like every Tetsuya Xeno game has made me Cry. Xenogears especially. Okay except for Xenosaga because that game was basically Xenoblade 3 but so absurd I was laughing the whole time.
But Xenoblade hits hard. Im glad Tetsuya can be more raw in his themes (although tbh this game still isnt hitting as close in terms of graphic since amputed bodies aren't flying everywhere) but the raw emotion is super appreciated.
Xenoblade 3 is a soft remake of Gears.

Like it has the Wetall from gears, Noah its literally Fei, and his relationship with Mio is like elly, the entire scene of him dying over and over is lifted from gears, M is has the same posseion power as Miang only stronger, there is a dude who literally looks lie Graf, but then you have the Consuls who are basically the testaments from Xenosaga (as well as much like the gazzle Ministiry from gears), a well as some other Universal structure concepts outright taken from Saga. And then N is almost like Kevin from Xenosaga, and also like ID (because hes just Noah but with long bangs), the DNA and refernces could go on forever but yeah.

I wasn't allowing myself to cry with this scene because I kept copiuming that they wouldn't kill a main party member this late into game.
I wish I knew nothing about video games for this game alone.
I never played the game, mins giving me some spoilers as to why they killed her off? Was she going to die in a scene after this?
@@dracoviod people in this world only live for 10 years, and at the start of the game, Mio had 3 months left. 2 months pass by the time the party gets thrown in jail, and the villains force the team to wait out Mio's last month in captivity, and in separate cells so that they can't even see her until the very last day.
I had a feeling they wouldn't, but I still cried a lot. I don't think that knowledge really affected my empathy for what the characters were going through.

@@dracoviod the two main characters have doppelgangers that are "evil", later on in this cutscene you actually see mio die but it is later revealed she switched consciousness with her doppelganger(so her body technically does die)
I'm normally not one to cry at video games (especially having known the rough details of the plot by that point), but that scene did make me tear up a bit. It's one thing to read a summary of the events, but it was an entirely different thing actually experiencing it myself.
I don’t know how many of you noticed this but when Mio (M) says “my Noah” she’s actually talking about N, but without the information from after this cutscene, it just seems like she’s talking about our Noah in a romantic way
@Xenomaniac I can understand why you'd feel that way but I wouldn't say it completely ruins the scene, it just has multiple layers to it. Yeah once you know that M in the cell you could see her talking about N instead but by that point in the story Mio and M had a heart to heart during the prison camp breakout. M shared all her memories with Mio, making them truly one in the same now as they understood and felt the same thing. So even if that was M saying "My Noah" at that moment it didn't matter since they were both truly one in the same Mio.
Even after having played this part of the game and knowing what happens, I’m still crying. I cry very few times at games some exceptions being this moment, the end part of ff xv where you see noct and luna reunited and Vesemir’s death in Witcher 3 being the only ones I can think of and I usually play around 5x 40+ hr (j)rpgs a year
Seeing this after knowing that M is in Mio's body is totally different from a the first time
Xenoblade 3 made such an emotionally devastating scene here, not even the current internet that made memes from Breaking Bad’s most tragic scenes could do anything about it.
Mind you, “Words That Never Reached You” and N’s breakdwown might be to thank for redirecting any memification from the events from ending of Chapter 5 to intro to Chapter 6.
Ive watched this scene over a dozen times at this point and it still fuggin breaks me every single time

Xenoblade is such an amazing game series 😭
Many scenes in Trails of Cold Steel series made my eyes run even the ones that were just sweet and romantic (Alicia 4ever but there are good bromances with good emotions too) so you can imagine my reactions to even just the first Xenoblade Chronicles game back then, had nothing spoiled beforehand. XBC3 blew my mind, if you like to react emotionally I recommend it, and the whole Trails series.
And the best part: we all still ended up spamming “winner” again by the end of it

Well to be honest, after the plot twist, when I recovered from the intense emotional scene, I started to think about the previous scene when the team confronted M(mio) when they tried to escape the prison and I began to find the situation weird. Ok she has to play the M role to avoid to be spotted by N , but don't you think it was a bit too much, attacking her own mates controlling them MULTIPLES TIMES like they were really risking their lives ? Lol
I know it's a "me" thing, but it doesn't hit as hard as the sub version.

As much as I liked Xenoblade 3, M’s plan of “I need a way to get N to change his mind about things. I know! I’ll kill myself in front of him!” made me facepalm so hard lol
There was a bit more going on with the plan than that. There was also the fact that she kind of wanted to die, because she was trapped in endless now and N never would have listened to any argument about allowing their lives to end after what he did to give them eternity.
And it was also to save our Mio from an inevitable death. It give her another chance at life and gave M a small means of atonement for what she had done and all the terrible things she allowed to happen.
She hoped that it might help N realize the error of his ways (and in the long run it did), but I think she still would have done it even if she knew that wouldn't happen.
@@Zeik56 Yeah this is basically (and sorta is) the relationship of Kevin and Shion in Xenosaga, if Kevin had actually fully convinced Shion too run away with him to an endless world for the two of them.
@@Zeik56 I understand that, but the only reason it was done the way that it was, i.e. the whole swap and send off thing, was for the sake of a "gotcha!" moment. The writers spend like a solid half hour screaming at you "MIO'S GONNA DIE! MIO'S GONNA DIE! MIO'S GONNA DIE!!!!!!!!" then going "HA! You were invested and scared? Well too bad everything is fine!". Alternate idea for what could have happened: before being captured she stands up to N, tries to convince him while everyone escapes, then when he refuses to see reason, kill herself or attack him, forcing him to kill her or some other shit. It was contrived, and I wish it wasn't.
@@Xaveze Maybe it is a little contrived, but I think the payoff was more than worth it. What you're proposing doesn't sound half as interesting or as engaging as the sequence of cutscenes we got. You would lose way more than you would gain.
Sometimes a little suspension of disbelief is necessary, especially in a story like this. It's not like the story was aiming for absolute realism and believability up to this point and then just pulls the rug from under you. It's not even close to the most contrived part of the plot. So I have trouble understanding why this is the part that is too much for you to accept.
Now if you want to make an argument that the scenario would have hit harder and been more effective if they had actually killed off Mio permanently, I might understand, and even somewhat agree. It's something I have thought about since I played the game, and while I ultimately settled on being fine with the direction they chose I could understand why someone might feel otherwise.
Ditching the entire scenario just because it's a little bit contrived is not the way to go though.

I frankly would have 100% been on board with them actually killing Mio, then M taking her place in the party somehow and the drama that would entail. This is not to say the whole thing didn't have it's merits. Elira crying over it certainly proves as much. I did have a lot of trouble suspending my disbelief throughout the game and it definitely impacted how well I took that part. It is also not the only part I had massive issues with but it's the only part relevant to the video.
