Xenoblade 2 was my first JRPG, and it really changed everything for me. JRPG's are now my favorite genre of games, and I've gotten to play masterpieces that I would've skipped or not heard about otherwise.
Similar experience for me, I’ve always played Pokemon games growing up and other random rpg-lites but Xenoblade 2 was the first proper JRPG i’ve ever played and got incredibly invested into. Since then, I’ve played the trilogy and all its DLC for over 450 hours, Octopath Traveler 1&2, Live a Live, Triangle Strategy, Dragon Quest 11, FE Three Houses, Nier Automata, and now Persona 5 Royal. Literally my exact experience with Xenoblade, except; I didn't play the game immediately as I was playing Breath of the Wild and FF7 concurrently at the time. I probably played Definitive Edition 8-12 months after I initially received the Definitive Works Set. After finishing 1, I immediately bought 2 and loved it even more, and of course pre-ordered 3's Collectors Edition. The series has single handedly changed my perspective of gaming and storytelling in multiple ways, and quickly catapulted itself to the top of my favorites list. Easily my favorite gaming franchise ever, with 2 being my favorite game of all time despite its glaring flaws.
@@TorqueOS I paid 120+ Euros for mine on Ebay (only the collectors items without the actual game) after not getting it thrice. Thank you Nintendo. That being said I do not regret spending that money in the slightest. Every time I enter my room and look to the shelf over my bed I see the box standing there and it just makes my day a tiny bit better.
I have a funny story as an european who registered interest with my e-mail and couldn't get one at release as Nintendos website was already constantly down the moment I got the e-mail. A little over a year after the XC3s release on a tuesday at the end of August when I was eating lunch I got an e-mail that XC3s collector's edition was in stock again. It was real and I was able to buy one after I was placed in a waiting queue with ~600 people stated as coming before me and an expected waiting time of 10minutes.
I'm glad you gave the franchise a chance. My first Xenoblade game was 2, and it was an amazing experience, I'm glad I gave it a chance in 2017, then I got to play DE and 3, great gaming experiences, everyone should play this trilogy. For me my favorite game is between 2 and 3 (counting DLC of both), they have amazing characters, stories, worlds and gameplay. Even if DE isn't my favorite, it's still in my top 10 games.
What's crazy is the definite edition is a remake of the Wii version which pretty much means its the wii version with some improvements. Smash bros really should have kept the info about the spirits. In ultimate the spirits dont have a description and where they come from making it more difficult to get excited. I remember it helping in getting people interested in series.
for some reason monolithsoft has a seriously bad habbit of just putting in blatant spoilers at the forefront of whatever crossover media they're involved with for xenoblade. example: "7" from xenoblade 1 is in alot of the promotional material for Project X Zone 2, including the opening and the back of the box
I had a very similar introduction as you did. I was recommended the playthrough by Johneawesome for xenoblade 2 and decided to watch a bit. The first few episodes had me hooked, so much so that I decided to stop watching so i could experience it for myself, and i am glad i did. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is my all time favorite game ever.
I bought a switch because I notice most of the games im playing on steam are indie games. best decision I ever made. it also made me love buying games physically again
I actually held a similar POV about the switch to you. Just thought it was a weak gimmicky console for little kids to play Mario. When tears of the kingdom released it changed my whole view of the switch and I immediately began searching for a switch lite on Facebook Marketplace. Have been playing Tears of the kingdom since March and am loving it. I bought Metroid prime remastered recently and planning to play it soon.
0:25 It's funny that the fact Xenoblade 1 being localized by Nintendo of Europe, because NoA didn't think the game would sell in North America, is one of the things that made the series so iconic. The fact that the Voice actors actually did a fantastic job for most of the games probably really helped as well.
As someone who picked up Xenoblade 1 on the Wii all those years ago and has been a massive fan since, hearing these sorts of stories just warms my heart 🥰. The fact that people are still able to discover this masterpiece of a series is just amazing, and all on the Switch!
Indeed. I saw a good review for a JRPG in a German gaming magazine and bought it. Muricans had to petition Nintendo to get this , the Last Story (little spoiler: the villain has always been near you) and another game.
I used to be a Square Enix fanboy until I played Xenoblade 1 on the original Wii. In fact, before buying the game, I said "people only liked Xenoblade because the Wii fanboys have nothing else to play" Well, I played it and loved it. And then turned into a Monolith fanboy lol
I knew the game existed back in the day and saw it and said “this has nothing to do with xenosaga” so I wrote it off and never looked back. Moves ahead like 15 or so years later and I decided to give it a try and oh man. Xenoblade is my fav of all time and XC3 is by far the goat and I’ll play it again and I never play games 2 times. Also the switch is a JRPG beast and now surpassed the PS2
I've been a nintendo fan ever since I was a kid and I don't see that changing anytime soon. Even after I bought a ps2 I always bought the new nintendo console too and these days I feel so vindicated for it too. I did'nt get into Xenoblade specifically until the trailers for 3 started coming out and I noticed the nopon charachters were in the party. I love stories that will have non human charachters in the main cast and especially in a party for an rpg. Variety is always good and I love when a setting with things like magic or fantastical creatures will embrace that by having non humans among the main cast. So needless to say once I saw that it sparked my curiosity and I looked into it more, eventually buying the first 2 games during the wait for Xenoblade Chronicles 3's future redeemed dlc which turned out to be a real good idea. I'm hooked on this series now and really want 4 to come out sooner rather than later.
Ah 2018… 17 year old me sitting in my room looking at the switch’s horrifically laggy eshop. Saw xenoblade 2 on my wishlist after hearing some good things about it from a friend. Was just after my birthday so i had the money to spare and picked up the game. Played about 5-6 hours and put it down. It wasnt clicking. The gameplay was horrible, why was attacking so slow. Why do i have to wait to use moves? Skipping every cutscene. Cut to 3-4 months later and i try the game again. This time not skipping the cutscenes. Bam. From that moment onwards i became the pope of the church of klaus. Ive beaten xenoblade 2 5 times and 3 3 times. And now 6 years later i still love the games more than any other in the whole world.
My Xenoblade journey started in 2017 with Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and I instantly fell in love with the series. It's crazy how Monolithsoft put out 2 games 1 remake and 3 DLC stories on 1 single console. I enjoyed these games so much that recently I've decided to take a look at some of Monoliths older games like Xenosaga & Baiten Kaitos the latter even has a updated version on Switch. But man do I hope Bandai Namco decides to remake Xenosaga together with Monolithsoft. If u like Xenoblade I highly advise to play Xenosaga aswell! Other then that coming from Dees community its awesome to see you make content Torque hopefully Dee picks up Xenoblade 3 soon haha!
Thanks for the video man :) Great to hear how you've changed about your view on Nintendo and their games from past to present. Peak character development :D And please, ignore the toxic comments. Someone hasn't told these kids that different people have different opinions. As if that's a bad thing... but oh well, you did a great job. I think it would be cool to see more of such videos from you, I liked it! ^^
What makes Xenoblade 1 even more insane is that it was at first a WII game. How they managed to cram such a massive semi open world JRPG packed with detail, fully animated in engine cutscenes and fully voiced dialog for those cutscenes on that system I'll never know. Monolilth Soft has some kind of tech magic at their disposal I sware. Also yeah... Xenoblade 2 is very much a "you love it or you hate it" game and definitely the weakest of the trilogy. It's story is great but it can feel like a slog and a lot of it's gameplay ideas feel underdevloped at best or actively trying to sabotage themselves at worst.
Exactly, I don't think I'd ever want somebody to fully explain to me how they managed to crush such a beast of a game down onto hardware like the Wii, because it would lose some magic. I saw it even runs on the New Nintendo 3DS model and I'm so thrown off by how talented these developers are, it's incredible.
@@TorqueOS the 3DS port was handled primarily by Monster Games. There's a Game Informer interview where they go over some of the challenges they faced with getting it to work on the system. Here's a small excerpt: "We had to design a new graphics engine with a custom visibility culling system and a complex level of detail system. As for the art assets, all of the worlds were rebuilt and optimized while keeping the same look and feel. Surprisingly, an indoor location, Agniratha, was our toughest environment. The level had many places where the screen contained the highest polygon count in the entire game. Our artists and designers had to rebuild that level several times to get it to finally perform well."
@@robkelly9258 I don't mean all of the characters haha. The games actually use several distinct regional English accents (including English, American and Australian). I'm referring to the Urayan race in XC2, and the Vandham linage (Guernica, Monica and Ghondor) in XB3. I like it because I'm Australian and its just very rare to hear our accent outside of Australian-based media.
@@pickettfury I did not get too far in XC2.... I did not like Rex much and his stupid accent and wanted him to die... So okay I get it, yes they include a lot of accents. I am on just starting on XC3.... so I will see lol
Not hate at all! The comment in the video was meant to be an inside joke but in hindsight that was a bad idea, out of context it just looks mean. I played X before, with limited success on an emulator and it tainted my view of the game. But I'm thinking about hooking up my Wii U and trying it for real on the OG hardware. :)
I’m glad you took the Switch a chance! My first switch game was breath of the wild. Aka I got the Switch immediately when it came out lol I’ve always enjoyed Nintendo’s consoles. Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy advance, DS, DSi, 3DS. The Wii? Only for wiisports and Epic Mickey. Next console will definitely be SwitchPro. And it’s needed. Switch framerate can barely handle Tears of the Kingdom.
Personnaly I fell in it cause I was playing Shulk in Smash 4 and I learned that there was a new game announced (the second one) so why not take a look and it was love at first sight
Xenoblade 2 was the sole reason I even bought a Switch. I knew Xenoblade from the Wii, played it back in 2013 while waiting for X. So, one could say it's my favorite franchise next to The Legend of Zelda and also Metroid.
first jrpg and one of my first games on the switch. its the whole reason i got the switch and it was on a whim cuz of one little scene from the first trailer that made me want to play it. i dont regret it this series is peak. ever since 2018 i havent been the same i played xeno 2 for 110 hours in a week. i was addicted. i would fall asleep and wake up to xeno 2
/bow, i couldnt agree more.... it impressed me so much that I played all 3 including DLC took me almost 2 1/2 months to complete them all. Such a wonderful story and characters that actually made you give a shit. Now damnit Monolith give us what we deserve.... XenoChron X remake MAKE IT HAPPEN!
this is my fav game of all time. i played the XBDE for the first time, and went in blind. I fell in love with how big the story really was. XB2 was alright, the Ending made me and my little brother gasp if you know you know. XB3 was really good as well, ending made me tear up. 1. DE 2. XB3 3.XB2. love the series
I also feel your pain on not getting the Xenoblade 3 Collector’s Edition. Imagine being Mexican and actually being able to buy one, but they didn’t accept my card cause of a different country. Hope Nintendo, never ever ever, make anything exclusive to that store ever again.
Agh that sucks, I'm sorry. If they had released some stock to various retailers I think more fans would've gotten their hands on them instead of resellers. ;-;
Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 are both two of my favorite games of all time. Even Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is a strong 8.5/10 game for me. Such an amazing franchise and I'm glad it's getting more exposure and recognition.
my first intro was listening to the smash 4 soundtrack, saying to myself no games i knew had better music than xenoblade, so i checked chuggaa's playtrhough of the first game and the rest is history
If I had to put them in order, I would have to say XC3, Future Redeemed, Torna, XC1 and XC2. Never had the pleasure to play XCX, which I still hope it’ll come to the switch or the next console. I found really hard to enjoy XC2, and not because of the Anime tropes. I really disliked the gacha-like blade system, hated the progression paywalls (it’s literally just a meter, Rex. JUST JUMP) and the voice acting direction was atrocious (no fault to the actors themselves, mind you). In itself I thought the storyline was not terrible. There were some really good moments and some really good emotional scenes, but there were so many other things that were off and when put together they kinda made it… meh. My opinion, obviously. XC3 on the other hand was a true masterpiece. I honestly don’t remember being so emotionally invested in a story as much as I was with XC3. Masterfully written narrative, beautifully crafted characters and the soundtrack… oh the soundtrack!! And Future Redeemed was the perfect ending. Xenoblade Chronicles is the perfect example that sometimes, you don’t need to have the best and most powerful console in order to give players a truly unique and wonderful gaming experience. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk. (And yay Torque for the video!!!❤)
What you said about Xenoblade 3 is literally what I felt about Xenoblade 2 😅 Haven't played 3, Future Redeemed or Future Connected yet (because I played XC1 on Wii) and now seen you speaking like that made me hyped for seen that end!!
Gaur Plains changed us all. I knew Xenoblade from the Wii first and even back then it was magical. Seeing all the fascinating areas in the Definitive Edition again with that huge art upgrade, let me tell you, it was absolutely amazing. Love the message of the video. I feel like a lot of people dismiss the Switch, just because it is a Nintendo product, and Nintendo is known as the family content maker. But its catalogue is huge. We've got miracle ports like NieR Automata and even some cloud-based games are running solid. The variety is really great.
lmfao, I just bought the three games cuz I'm a anime fan and played my fair share of rpgs. also smash bros drawn me more into the franchise cuz the music and character designs are so good.
I was never super into Nintendo, but my friend kept recommending Xenoblade series and finally I bought a Switch, and bought all of the Xenoblade games and played them all one right after another, and then I got addicted to collecting physical switch games. Very relatable video! subbed
Sometimes one can think past times were better, or wish for another era...I'm just grateful I had the chance to live at a time when I could experience Xenoblade. I've nothing but thanks for Monolith Soft. On the nintendo note, having played videogames all my life in consoles and PC, the Switch has easlily become my favorite, my trusty good friend. This console is magical.
I bought a switch cuz Nintendo fans wouldn't stfu about how good BOTW was, played it and was hella disappointed and for a time my switch just sat there collecting dust and i was about to sell it. Until i was introduced to Xenoblade, what a masterpiece of a franchise.
I find it hilarious you wrote Xenoblade off as for kids just because it was on the switch. I can’t imagine what you would have thought if your first exposure had been on the Wii, a console with an even worse reputation of being for babies.
To clarify, I don't think Xenoblade is for kids, but I did have a bias against the Switch as being too kid-friendly for me. As for the Wii, my family did own one but IIRC we only played Wii Sports on it, and the only time I bought a game for it was Destroy All Humans: Big Willy Unleashed, which was horrendous. So my perspective on the Wii is largely unchanged.
@@TorqueOS I understood your opinions, I just find it funny. The Wii is a little infamous for how, because of its strong casual appeal with game like Wii Sports and Mario Kart Wii, combined with its hardware that was only slightly better then the GameCube, it didn't have many strong, "Must Play games" like PS3 and 360 were getting. That's why operation Rain Fall was founded, to bring three games that fit the "Must Play" bill over from Japan. Your Pre-Xenoblade perspective of the switch seemed to match with that attitude towards the Wii. that's what I was getting at.
DeeBeeGeek shot up as one of my favorite content creators back in about 2019 when he started playing Halo for the first time and being able to relive moments from my childhood through his first time reactions have been a pleasure of mine. I'm glad he spurred you on to give a fantastic series a try. Also Xenoblade X is probably my favorite in terms of gameplay, especially when you learn the deeper mechanics, definitely worth playing imo
As someone who has been keeping up with the series since the 3DS version of Xenoblade 1, I'm glad to see this amazing series continue to touch the lives of more and more people. Great vid!
Really looking forward to seeing the graphical updates for all the Xenoblade franchise in the next generation of the Switch! Would absolutely love to play through them again
It's a beautiful game. 'Took me a long time to get around to trying it, but I'm actually playing and enjoying the 3DS version for some reason. (I just find it impressive. 🤷♂️)
I got myself a cheap Switch from a friend when I moved out. I basically went to a remote town and lived in an apartment in which internet was hard to install so the Switch I got from said friend was most of my entertainment. Took me a month or two at the time to buy the first Xenoblade Chronicles and another few months to complete it. It has been little more than a year since I got into this series and, now with Xenoblade Chronicles 3 cleared and playing the DLC at the moment, I'm pretty much sure I found another thing to obsess over. How a little device like the Switch is able to hold a gem like this in exclusivity is beyond me but I don't care, I became a Nintendo fan again.
I imported the first game from Europe to play it on a hacked Wii, just cause I read so many great things about it. The game made me feel like I was a kid again, playing FF7-FF9 on my PS1. The story and cutscenes were engaging, and I remember putting down the controller after rolling credits and thinking to myself “that might be my favorite video game experience ever”. The trilogy will forever be my most favorite video game series, and frankly it revived my love for gaming in my mid 20’s.
Okay, i was gonna comment how awesome it is that this series helped change your mind on the switch and the amazing work monolith soft is doing on this series, but i think instead of that i have to call attention to that this is genuinely a REALLY well made and put together video visually and everything! perfect music choices and editing, really good stuff man👍
I love Xenoblade Chronicles for 2 things: Music and Worldbuilding/Setting. They are so good especially in the first and second game, for me. Plots and characters are also good but sometimes there's too much cringe japanese stuff and fanservice. Gameplay is good especially in the 3rd for quality of life ecc.
worldbulding of XC2 be like : 500 years, nothing happened, no records of those 500 years despite multiple characters having lived through them LMAO, country barely changed, customs are the same, even their ships are the same. let's not even dive into hwo stupid the story and the characters are in that game lmao
@@fieldkaiju my friend, I don't know why you are so arrogant in the comments section but anyway, 500 years is not the only thing that is part of worldbuilding and anyway they live on titans, they don't have that many resources to improve themselves I guess, even if you were right it doesn't change that is still a solid worldbuilding
@@fieldkaijuI agree that it is bad that almost nothing happened in those 500 years, but saying the story is stupid.... Did we play the same game? This games has so many philosophical and deep themes, It is no wonder I spent so much time of my life just thinking about it and reflecting
@@situz2866We only met Gormott, which have now a big city! There were some others small ones but if I remember well they were destroyed unfortunately. Torna.... Sank. We couldn't see other Titans to really see their improvements, or the contrary, Mor Ardain might have been a green Titan back in Torna days and now is dieing. I wish we could go to every Titan in Torna DLC and see them in the past!
Shutouts to DeeBeeGeek, I also picked up Xenoblade Chronicles DE when he was streaming. For me the definitive moment was Dee playing through Makna Village, on a Friday, while I was having a beer after work, fell in love with the game and bought it in that moment. Since then I've collected every physical copy, books, amiibo and piece of music I could.
Chuggaconroy's Let's play of Xenoblade 2 made me a xeno fan. I went on to buy a copy of 3 after that and I absolutely adored that game. Even though I haven't been able to play 2 and 1 yet, I'm eagerly waiting to when I can can get my hands on a copy of each. EDIT: I'VE DONE IT. I JUST BOUGHT 2, DE AND TORNA TODAY. I'LL GET THEM NEXT WEEK. I CAN'T WAIT. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Xenoblade 2 was created by a skeleton crew for the most part because the majority of Monolithsoft's staff was helping with making Breath of the Wild, small miracle it still came out as well as it did
maybe it's my massive xenoblade bias and obsession but this just made me subscribe instantly (that and seeing your first video was Spark the electric jester)
Loved Xenoblade since Operation Rainfall brought it to my attention. People who claim to play games for their stories really, REALLY need to check these games out. Play them in order 1-2-3, I love having invested all the time I've put into these games (over 1000+ hours total incluiding Xenoblade Chonicles X on Wii U which was my whole reason to get that console). Great video!
Man my first xenoblade game was xenoblade chronicles x and I dropped it less than halfway through. I am so glad I gave the series another shot when xenoblade 2 came out purely cause I liked the visuals. It’s to this day my most played switch game and my favorite of the trilogy. I enjoyed how the tone was a bit more goofy but still had some morbid and intense moments. And I love that it introduced me to the rest of the trilogy
it's just impressive that the first game was made for the switch, it's that the first game was made for the sparking Wii of all things back in the day and literally the only thing they changed between it and Definitive edition is the artstyle, UI, and Future Connected, which was originally an entire scrapped area hidden in the wii version also impressive: Xenoblade 2 was created by a skeleton crew for the most part because the majority of Monolithsoft's staff was helping with making Breath of the Wild, small miracle it still came out as well as it did
Played it on the Wii, bought it along with The Last Story and it took over my gaming world - I couldn’t believe a game of such size could exist on a Wii!
I'll be getting on playing that ASAP so I can appreciate the environments, I think I only got as far as the city and outer jungle area where you meet a silly alien dude (not the nopon), but I went no further. Those areas looked amazing.
@@TorqueOS Ill hope you enjoy, it can be quite hard to get into and I also recommend using the internet if you cant find some things. Cause as much as I love it, the game is far from perfect.
"Made me love the Nintendo Switch" It was on Wii first, then 3DS, now remade for Switch. "..from the old PS2 days" It was never on PS2 "I did not expect thick British accents" They're Australian
Just to let iyou know do not pay any attention or trust idiot revisionists who say that we got xenoblade because of some stupid fan movement aimed at nintendo of America. It was Nintendo of Europe that localized it and that's why it has British accents in it, and that fan movement didn't direct any attention to Europe during that time I'm saying this because I've noticed lately that some idiots are trying to change the story to make it seem like fans were the ones who brought it over to America when clearly that isn't the case
6:48 Any reason? I played Xenoblade 1 back in the day and I'm sorta playing X right now on PC. I'm still in the early game, so it hasn't quite grabbed me yet, but i feel that mirrors the first. Im hanging in for the Skells because i want a Gundam in my Xenoblade

Smash bros really should have kept the info about the spirits. In ultimate the spirits dont have a description and where they come from making it more difficult to get excited. I remember it helping in getting people interested in series.
I only remember the spirits spoiling things for me lol
for some reason monolithsoft has a seriously bad habbit of just putting in blatant spoilers at the forefront of whatever crossover media they're involved with for xenoblade.
example: "7" from xenoblade 1 is in alot of the promotional material for Project X Zone 2, including the opening and the back of the box
Proud to be both an Xenoblade Chronicles, and a Super Mario fan. I love you Nintendo
This video is better than some bigger youtubers how do you only have 200 subs well have my subscription
He works for the youtuber mentioned (deebeegeek) and basically has experience behind the screen
I actually have about 10+ years of experience prior to working for DBG, I've been on TH-cam for a looong time haha.
@@snowyfate oh that makes sense
@@TorqueOS eyyy! Hope you make more, this was great btw
I will say this though Monoltih soft is defintely a great developer cant wait to see what they have for switch 2.
Funny how you started Xenoblade bc you watched DBG, and I started watching DBG bc of Xenoblade xD
..now play xenoblade X on the Wii U. The open world in that game is beyond mind blowing. Best open world game period
Apart from the music, that does my head in and there is no way to turn it off.
As someone who picked up Xenoblade 1 on the Wii all those years ago and has been a massive fan since, hearing these sorts of stories just warms my heart 🥰. The fact that people are still able to discover this masterpiece of a series is just amazing, and all on the Switch!
Same!
In fact, before buying the game, I said "people only liked Xenoblade because the Wii fanboys have nothing else to play"
Well, I played it and loved it. And then turned into a Monolith fanboy lol
TH-cam is back to recommending Xenoblade videos to me. I'm not mad. Good vid!
This series has spoiled me. I am equally afraid and looking forward to what Monolithsoft do next.
Jeez you grew up with an Xbox, glad you wisely learned your lesson to not trust Microsoft, I learned that lesson 10 years ago
The bit at the end lol
Great video, Torque!
Before late than never 😂
That quote is what everyone had thought for so, so long. Who woulda thought. Goddamn takahashi
Underrated youtuber, keep the great work up
Thank youuuu ;-;
XBC1 is still my favorite one, btw. XBC2 is a close 2nd, and XBC3 is the one I never want to play through ever again, dlc be damned.
Thanks for the video man :)
Great to hear how you've changed about your view on Nintendo and their games from past to present. Peak character development :D
And please, ignore the toxic comments. Someone hasn't told these kids that different people have different opinions. As if that's a bad thing... but oh well, you did a great job.
I think it would be cool to see more of such videos from you, I liked it! ^^
I love Xenoblade Chronicles 2 for the replayability. Each playthrough is a different experience because of the core crystals
For me it was Super Smash Bros 4, It introduced in me to the character and the franchise and I'm planning on getting the game on the switch as well
The scope of the world and the story are just incredible. Xenoblade made me love JRPG.
Here's a small excerpt:
"We had to design a new graphics engine with a custom visibility culling system and a complex level of detail system.
Xenoblade is probably the only game you'll hear full on aussie voiced characters. I find it both amusing and love it.
It is not Aussie it is Cockney (East London)
@@robkelly9258 X3 was my entry point into the series and feels very refined in gameplay and visually compared to the earlier entries. Hope you enjoy.
Why the hate on Xenoblade Chronicles X? Or is it more because of the Wii U, rather than XCX? If so, I get it xD
Ironic considering X is better than most the game he talked about in this very video
I really enjoyed X. Unfortunately it's trapped on my Wii U.
Well it was focused more on gameplay rather than story, thats my personal reason
@@TorqueOS I can say X is good. Amazing robot combat something the other 3 games don't do.
One of us, one of us. Xenoblade is by far the best product Nintendo HAS EVER - and probably will ever - produce.
Um... nah
@@jw6588
Um… yeah
@@jw6588 Your opinion will never invalidate mine. Sorrynotsorry.
I would like to see what other new IPS Monolith Soft would be able to create. If Nintendo gives them the budget and time
They may be making something else for switch 2. They had art for a potentially new franchise.
Xenoblades Chronicles is what turned me into an RPG gamer. I adore this series. Currently playing Xenoblades 3 and I am madly in love with it. Lol
i spotted the name like wait is that? XD (love xenoblade it's become my favourite jrpg)
same bro
Agh that sucks, I'm sorry. If they had released some stock to various retailers I think more fans would've gotten their hands on them instead of resellers. ;-;
Monolith soft are in fact the goats! And have become one of favorite developers and look forward to whatever they’re cooking next
Xenoblade Chronicles X is actually marvellous. Don't be an elitist snob and write it off.
my first intro was listening to the smash 4 soundtrack, saying to myself no games i knew had better music than xenoblade, so i checked chuggaa's playtrhough of the first game and the rest is history
What you said about Xenoblade 3 is literally what I felt about Xenoblade 2 😅
Haven't played 3, Future Redeemed or Future Connected yet (because I played XC1 on Wii) and now seen you speaking like that made me hyped for seen that end!!
Well hopefully you learned not to be an ignorant child and write things off entirely because of weird insecure misconceptions you apply to them!
Based comment ngl.
Thank you for releasing the video Torque. It was really good.
lmfao, I just bought the three games cuz I'm a anime fan and played my fair share of rpgs. also smash bros drawn me more into the franchise cuz the music and character designs are so good.
I was never super into Nintendo, but my friend kept recommending Xenoblade series and finally I bought a Switch, and bought all of the Xenoblade games and played them all one right after another, and then I got addicted to collecting physical switch games. Very relatable video! subbed
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 for the re-playability the core crystals were so much fun as you could change your play style due to what dropped
Thanks to this video I gave XC2 another chance, and I’m so so glad I did. Thank you.
Have tried xenogears yet
Not seriously yet, no.
My first exposure with xenoblade was shulk in smash 4, I think alot of people can relate to that.
I bought a switch cuz Nintendo fans wouldn't stfu about how good BOTW was, played it and was hella disappointed and for a time my switch just sat there collecting dust and i was about to sell it.
Until i was introduced to Xenoblade, what a masterpiece of a franchise.
Xenoblade Chronicles was a traumatizing experience for me back in the Wii days. Still one one my favorite games.
@@yokaiwatcher8500 Ahh I understand, I've heard about Operation Rainfall as well but I'm not super familiar with it. Must do some reading on it.
Algorithm boost
Xenoblade chronicles 2 gives you that feeling you had when you played kingdom hearts sing along sections but if it was an entire game
As someone who has been keeping up with the series since the 3DS version of Xenoblade 1, I'm glad to see this amazing series continue to touch the lives of more and more people. Great vid!
Guess I should comment to give that algorithm boost. Awesome video, Torque! Great pacing and editing. Glad you decided to upload it
My first play through of Xenoblade 2 was BEAUTIFUL. The music
@@situz2866 Xenoblade 2 feels like it was made for Japanese players in mind, where as Xeno 3 might appeal more to the West?
Awesome retrospective! Glad you tried and enjoyed the series. Also, that last piece of music you used was perfect. Great taste!
BEST TRILOGY AND XENO 2 BEST GAME
What makes it especially mindblowing is that that Switch game is a remastered Wii game that was drawing that huge world on 88 MB of ram.
4:57 not spoiler btw. On Nintendo Direct was said about connection of 1-2 with 3
Man my first xenoblade game was xenoblade chronicles x and I dropped it less than halfway through. I am so glad I gave the series another shot when xenoblade 2 came out purely cause I liked the visuals. It’s to this day my most played switch game and my favorite of the trilogy. I enjoyed how the tone was a bit more goofy but still had some morbid and intense moments. And I love that it introduced me to the rest of the trilogy
it's just impressive that the first game was made for the switch, it's that the first game was made for the sparking Wii of all things back in the day and literally the only thing they changed between it and Definitive edition is the artstyle, UI, and Future Connected, which was originally an entire scrapped area hidden in the wii version
also impressive: Xenoblade 2 was created by a skeleton crew for the most part because the majority of Monolithsoft's staff was helping with making Breath of the Wild, small miracle it still came out as well as it did
6:45 choosing not to play X? T'is the greatest game on the Wii U!
You'd be doing yourself a monumental disservice.
I promise to play the game, I might even stream it so I can get help from people. ^^
Played it on the Wii, bought it along with The Last Story and it took over my gaming world - I couldn’t believe a game of such size could exist on a Wii!
This series is my favorite set of JRPG's, literally had no clue this series would be such an underrated gem.
its funny cause visually the Wii U game still looks better.
I'll be getting on playing that ASAP so I can appreciate the environments, I think I only got as far as the city and outer jungle area where you meet a silly alien dude (not the nopon), but I went no further. Those areas looked amazing.

"Made me love the Nintendo Switch"
It was on Wii first, then 3DS, now remade for Switch.
"..from the old PS2 days"
It was never on PS2
"I did not expect thick British accents"
They're Australian
Just to let iyou know do not pay any attention or trust idiot revisionists who say that we got xenoblade because of some stupid fan movement aimed at nintendo of America. It was Nintendo of Europe that localized it and that's why it has British accents in it, and that fan movement didn't direct any attention to Europe during that time
I'm saying this because I've noticed lately that some idiots are trying to change the story to make it seem like fans were the ones who brought it over to America when clearly that isn't the case
👍Love the positive vibes throughout. Cool vid.
