Dude this year was the first time I put on the awards. I was blown away by the orchestral performance for the Okami sequel. Made me want to try the first one and I actually ended up getting it for my steam deck OLED for 5 bucks! Such a cool and colorful game.
I personally enjoyed the game awards. Okami, onimusha and the team behind Ico and shadow of the colossus making a new game was enough to keep me looking forward for the future. I don't understand what people are complaining about. I also liked that they took onboard criticism about previous shows and tried to improve this year. However people on the Internet are always going to find something to cry about. This was a good show for gamers and creators.
In my opinion, people are really sad, and they're projecting their frustrations towards things people enjoy. And it has evolved into some.... Unfortunate mindsets. This year's game awards has been the best one in a LONG time. And I am excited to see more of all of these games. Especially Fumito Ueda's next title 😍

I made a list to myself from the game awards: - Ninja Gaiden Ragebound - Slay the spire 2 - Shadow labyrinth - Kyora - Witcher 4 - Elden Ring Nightreign - FF7 Rebirth (for pc) - Indiana Jones - Project Century - Onimusha way of the sword I'm sure some of these might be bad/dissappointing (shadow labyrnith, kyora are a question mark) but I'm sure we will get 2-3 really good games out of this list
Astro Bot is undeniably the GOTY for me. I'm just one person, but aside from it being an amazing game, the one thing I know is that my friends and I were all hyped for it, and it was a conversation piece for months. We spent countless evenings trying to beat each other's times in Astro's Playroom speedrun levels, and the day the game dropped, we were radio-silent for about 24 hours, because none of us wanted to ruin it for each other. It was everything I've wanted out of a major game release in years, and easily the most hyped I've been for a game as an adult. We all got to feel like kids again, and in my mind, that's exactly what a video game should do. I can't wait to share the game with kids of my own someday. As for Elden Ring, I wasn't a huge fan of the original, or most FromSoftware games, to be honest, because they are just too difficult. I put about 25 hours into ER, and I don't think I made it past the third major boss battle in the game. Now that they've announced a roguelike sequel, I'm all in. Sometime in January, most likely, I'm going to be jumping back into the game and Demon Souls to give them another shot. Roguelikes have been my genre for the past five years or so, and adding co-op to it will only sharpen the experience. I mean look at Risk of Rain 2 and the new Isaac update. Both include multiplayer, which I'm usually not into (because most multiplayer games these days are riddled with microtransactions, and fomo-based battle passes), and both are incredibly fun. I've also been meaning to return to Returnal now that it's multiplayer to give that another go. I'm just so excited for all things gaming in the next year, even if it simply means visiting older games that I never got to try before (a la The Witcher 3).
I understand that Astro bot might be a good game, but goty going to a Playstation exclusive just feels disingenuous. Balatro was an anomaly in the indie space, and Wukong earned all of the hype - it was the gamers choice for goty. Shoulda gone to Balatro in my opinion.

I thought the game awards were great this year, but I want to hone in on the internet’s reaction to the Witcher 4, and Naughty Dog’s new IP. I am extremely excited for both. But the internet seems to be more concerned with identity politics rather than focus on the games themselves, or just want to complain about something. I know this is not new, but i have finally become so sick of it I’ve decided to limit my online footprint. I just can’t take it anymore. I’m all for nuanced discussions about a medium I love, but the negativity is too much for me. I’ll still watch your channel, since it’s one of the few that has a positive message, but I will be cutting all other social media from my life.

Yeah this year was honestly pretty bad for video games. Lots of disappointing releases, and Nintendo especially had basically nothing outside of a 2D Zelda game. 2025 is looking great though, and the Game Awards only added to that excitement. AAA devs will always be making the same kind of slop they've been doing for basically 2 decades now. They're just too big to take creative risks for the most part.
