Love this narration describing all this pulp science-fiction backstory as if it were safety features of a lawnmower, or the details of a 401(k) program.

I was borned and raised in Brazil. Unfortunatelly, we did had no chancew to watch this vpromo back in the 80's. Thanks for sharing. Xevious was as great game indeed.
3:45 Wow! I had no idea that many Sol Citadels could appear on screen at the same time. Simply amazing! This game just gets more interesting the more I find out about it.
Gotta love the total lack of shame Atari had here completely omitting the fact that Namco made Xevious, not them. They were simply the publisher in North America. The way the narrator talks, you'd think it was Atari who made Xevious. They didn't.
Just found this video, thanks a lot for this! The first time seeing XEVIOUS game "in action" since 1986 or so, the time playing it, brought up great memories! And also hearing the sound again is incredible. After 3 minutes it´s like you left the arcade yesterday...Cheers Alex
2:19 those things are in super smash bros for 3DS’s smash run mode as one of the enemies and they also have a trophy for them But like the game their from, you can destroy them.
does this game feature music "KALIMBA DE LUNA" in the end boss battle sequence? or it was a similar game featuring a ship like RAMROD from SABRE RIDER & STAR SHERIFFS.
It's also true that usually music is not considered part of "sound effects". Back in the days I never minded that repetitive jingle, it was kinda hypnotic but after a while it just faded into background.

Atari, Namco and Infogrames presents Xevious!

Gotta love how you basically said the same thing twice in one comment.
Does it matter to the operator who designed the game?? Atari published a bunch of arcade games designed by outside developers, as did other coin-op's.
actually they were credited in the credits
Galaxian, Pacman, Galaga, Pole Position, DigDug, Mappy, Xevious.
I've been looking for this commercial for ages. Thank you.

3:36 *_OH MY GOD I NEVER KNEW THAT_*
XEVIOUS was the best because of its colorful bg and hi def sprites.... first for games that had usually been empty.. even RALLY X was pretty empty..
Cool, Xevious started the scrolling shooter genre, also called shmups.
I thought xevious was from Namco
Namco made the game but Atari published the game in north America

4:18 TWIN ANDOR GENISISES? WHEN DOES THAT EVER HAPPEN?
Yeah, I asked myself the same question, that never happens
@@mariobros237 it would be a absolute nightmare to deal with, glad that never came to fruition.
@@mariobros237 he probably meant: "he must be ready for another mothership, at another level." that DOES happen.

'Strafing' is attacking a ground target, not an air target.
Extreme firepower is key to xevious. Here….let me give you a sound bite, “let’s get Xevious.”
米国版ゼビウス!難易度高いんでしたっけ。
Was this narrated by Carl Sagan??
Yes, the worlds greatest gamer.
Are you devious enough to beat Xevious?
where are this guys now?
That blaster button is more like a bombing button because clearly you’re bombing ground targets
where can I watch movie at
xevious is not a movie.
@@Elavator66 yes it was supposed to be
@@questionmark3666 that sounds cool, did it ever get a script or concept art, or anything else?

I’ve played this game many times
But I sucked at it
"Great sound effects"
No offense, but I don't think the same 8 seconds of music is "great sound effects"
It's also true that usually music is not considered part of "sound effects". Back in the days I never minded that repetitive jingle, it was kinda hypnotic but after a while it just faded into background.
Oh…right-stick & left buttons …
