- F-18 JDAM Ripple Attack Tutorial
Hey Step Hornet Pilots! Today we're taking a look at the one pass JDAM Ripple Attack with 8 GBU-38's. This is a pretty easy technique that you can employ online to do some destructive firepower. Enjoy!

True. Markpoints are dope. Not a big fan of JDAM spam but it really works great without the station fiddling we had prior to the markpoints. Cheers mate!
No bullshit and straight to the point, amazing work! Thank you.
Hi Tricker et al 👋I'm sat here laughing away to myself 😆 I am fairly rubbish at DCS, to say the least, but really enjoy it. Your videos have really helped me crash with so much more panache 😉 The reason I am laughing to myself is thinking of the knots I have tied myself in trying to do what you have shown here. If you can imagine a mad scientists lair with whiteboards with lots of equations, sketches etc on it, chemist stuff bubbling away in the background and the obligatory electricity buzzing and running up and down between two contacts. Well, that is me trying to drop a JDAM. I watch your less than 5 minute video and it is so obvious! It is now obvious after I nearly got to the point of achieving alchemy! Honestly, I feel like such a burk 😔 Seriously though, the videos are great. Thanks a lot. I hope you can keep them coming. I'm looking forward to your videos for the Phantom. After all, I want to crash the best that I can in such an iconic jet 😉 Cheers, Dave
I don't know why I hadn't considered this before. It's so easy to get too focussed on programming weapon deliveries that you forget the easy ways to do things.
"Step-Hornet pilots". Nice!
Really enjoying these quick and to the point tutorials!
Someone in the training server recommended I watch this, good tip! Thanks for the help! Short and sweet.
Good stuff! Ever since we got mark points, I've been a rippler!
External view and Tacview? You're spoiling us... Great content as always!
Draw me like one of your French girls
You the man, Tricker.
No you!
Awesome tutorial. This is what I was searching. A quick, presisse and concise tutorial. Thanks for sharing.
Great video! Quick tip: it's not necessary to press TDC Depress again after creating a markpoint. The TGP will retain the target designation after the first TDC Depress action. You should be able to slew the TGP around and simply hit the markpoint button as needed after that first TDC Depress.
Thanks Echo, I tried this actually and got mixed results... Sometimes they would hit and sometimes they would hit the previous target, so I found always hitting TDC depress was the best way.
@@TrickerDCS Good to know. I'll test it next time to be sure. I haven't noticed a problem before, but I definitely trust your methodology. Love the videos, keep them coming!
@@Vortex31415 No I appreciate it, anything to make life easier I'm all for! Thanks for your input.
Solid video, keep them coming Tricker
Well done as always! S!
Always such professional videos!
Oh man I was really looking for such a functionality.
Thanks a bunch sir!
That was really rather well explained!! Thank you!! Believe It or not i've never used the JDAMS!!
This video gives me a sense of satisfaction after a long hard day. Lol.
Very cool man.
Nicely done!
Very helpful!!
Dunno if it was just me but I think I saw you on a server earlier today, don’t remember what server but I saw the words: “Tricker”.
I was on the Cold War server and GS server for a bit
I KNEW IT
So far best tutorial, now i can release my JSOW like God himself :D
But I was wondering : is there a way to give each jdam her specific coordinates and release all of them at once ?
Haven't been able to test with more recent releases of the jet, but here's another way: th-cam.com/video/dImQAAHYTAk/w-d-xo.html
Don't think that's a thing yet in the DCS Hornet unfortunately
Yes, But it requires some setup either far away from the target, or on ground. You can enter a set coordinate on each JDAM for target through the PP (Pre planning) mode.
@@jacobnissen103 that's correct I do have a pre-planned mode video but I thought he was referring to the too mode
@@justinhendrix5366 i tried this technique (and i followed it all the way carefully) but everytime ALL my bombs went all the way to the same target so i don't know what I'm doing wrong
Great Video Thx !
Are you using the DCS beta Version?
Yep open beta
Never seen a tricker fly the 18 only MiG-28🤔
Super, all thumbs up
I’m giving you a like and a comment for the algorithm
damn this is a life safer! I was always going to aim 1 by 1 using waypoint and slew manually.... damn
Don't think you need to hit TDC depress each time. the first time is enough since the cursor is already a diamond.
Yeah...figers crossed for multi target qrm mode
JDAM to the face
Did something changing in the Hornet since this tutorial was made ? I'm not seeing the same symbology when targeting vehicles compared to what is being shown in this video. Thanx!
Should be the same, make sure you’re using the atflir if you’re following the guide here
You are probably in a different tracking mode. There are technically 6 dfferent tracking modes. It's too much to typing to explain each one. You can either search for "tracking modes" in the offical dcs f-18 manual, or try to find a video that goes over each one. Basically, you can cycle between them using a combination of "sensor control switch right" and "undesignate"
is there anyway to bind the mfd buttons onto the keyboard so you dont have to click all the time?
Yah just look for osb button key mappings
He did not pickle he opened the canopy and threw the whole jar out...
What does hitting TDC depress do each time you press it as you change targets/mark points?
Assigns the coordinates to the jdam
@@TrickerDCS Thanks--is that necessary if your process is really just to create a bunch of mark points, and then send your JDAMs to said mark points? (maybe I'm asking, what's the difference between just slewing and hitting mark point versus "slew-desginate-mark") Great vids!
I recall doing it without TDC depress and all the bombs went to one target. I haven't tested this in the last couple of months though to see if it's changed.
If your targets changed positions after the first hit, you wouldn't have hit anything.
Valid point but most targets online are stationary for performance
Pickle?
Ripple = release of 1 or mutiple munition in quick intervals.
Pickle is the callout for when you release bombs like the JDAM. It’s like “Fox 3” for AMRAAMS.
Man I wish the F-16 was capable of this. I mean in theory it is.. But making markpoints with the TGP is more or less completely useless with it.
Does it still work after the latest update?
It should, wasnt any changes to gbus
@@TrickerDCS I might have messed something up, but after designating all the 8 markpoints, I go back and select Markpoint1 and I click Waypoint Designate, just like you do at 2.50 min of your video. At this point the TGP shows a different wrong point. I tried this procedure at least 3 or 4 times, but I get the same issue. Any idea?
@@racingtheweb I just ran this twice now once with the lightning and once with the atflir, they both all hit the targets. I did one run with only 6/8 targets hit but i forgot to change one station to TOO.
Please make sure ALL stations are set to TOO, and you press TDC Depress after you find a target, THEN press MK to create a markpoint.
@@TrickerDCS Yeah, all stations were TOO and I pressed MK after TDC Depress, but ... I'll check this out again :-) Thanks for your quick response.
@@racingtheweb interesting, don't rush it, make sure after you select another MK point and you hit designate, that the tgp is looking at the right target
This does not work
