We're continuing with our photography series and today were talking about another budget camera and this time, its a mirrorless camera. A lot of people are moving from the bulkier DSLR to the more compact mirrorless and a lot of popular mirrorless camera manufacturer benifits from this from the likes of Sony Alpha, Panasonic Lumix and Olympus. Even established DSLR manufaturers are also following the trend like Canon R and Nikon Z. But there's one manifacturer who is a little unknown to camera world but producing really good mirrorless cameras and camera sensors and that is Samsung with thier NX lineup. Samsung is popular with other gadgets lije phones, television, home appliances but the marketing for the nx mirrorelss camera is a failure. Personally, I dont know if it wasnt given too much attention because photographers, unlike other tech enthusiast may have strong bias or brand loyalty. Of course, ecosystem will also play a role if someone already spent a lot buying great lenses from a particular brand it will be hard to switch and that put Samsung and the NX camera into a rough and tough spot but today, if youre new to camera world and ypu want to check out cheap but really good camera, lets talk about Samsung NX2000 and how good it is and what makes it special.

I got me several "old" Samsung NX cameras on the used market. They are absolutely brilliant and for the money now you hardly find an equivalent. I got the NX1, NX 500, NX 300 and the NX Mini for just on the go. And together with the bodies you can get great bargains with the lenses that are sold with the cameras. Plus batteries, camera bags etc. I really enjoy these cameras for they've been so much ahead of their day. The only downside which really isn't one anymore is the H265 video codec only. But if you know how to handle it that's actually an upside for you have so much less data then with other codecs without compromising on quality.

You can get them from eBay or amazon for 10€/ 12 $. Mine is a M42 to NX. There are so much m42 lenses available, for insane low prices. I sold my last original Samsung lens last month.

I think M42 lenses... So maybe Olympus and Panasonic. My best guess.
Good review. I just bought this camera in march for 50€, Two dedicated lenses 20mm and 30mm costed six times more, but with great results.
Since it was abandoned by Samsung, the lenses are hard to find and very expensive to buy...

Can mount vintage lenses and if it has contacts you can use modern lenses too lol

An extreme downside is...
Lens and accessories. Coming from a professional p/v. If for personal use, doable but a ton of better options
all of you guys watching this video need to know samsung officially shut the camera department 5y ago and they dont do any customer service for cameras including repair and fundermental application for wireless connecting with your phone and computer. be aware of the fact that if you accidently broke it there is no way to get official repair

The camera produces great stills and 45mm holds it's own today
Ive had one since 2014. Haven’t used it forever, plugged it in the other day to find out that NOW the wifi settings don’t work, guess it’s too old :) other than that, the camera is great.
Oooh really. Mine I dont really use the wifi much, I just use the SD card to transfer files hehehe 👊👊
Maybe give it a rest? Until recently, I hadn’t used mine in years and was not working properly so I thought it was done. Some two months and some charging attempts afterwards, the last time I used it was working all normal! Been using it since.
Did you ever get the wifi sorted? Im having the same issues. Wont connect to iphone
@@georgegoodsonmusic7584 It doesn't work anymore, you can only use computer. They turned off the servers for the camera.
Damn these things run for like 80$ rn they are a bargain for beginners

Samsung doesn’t do anything half heartedly, they had the most aggressive mission statement that I have ever read… it said they planned on dominating the world electronics market… judging by the sample pictures I think they just couldn’t get the customer to give them a chance because the picture quality looks great… When Sony came in we all knew we were buying a Minolta plus they were already making everyone’s sensors anyway but Samsung came in on their name alone… it makes sense though that Samsung would come in strong… when they enter a market you can bet that they came out to win and they are never known to hold back… I saw one of these on marketplace for $30 recently… it’s crazy

@@TheMaskedChef7 uhhhh, ok: it has noisy and slow autofocus lens which is really hard to record with. The battery is really hard to find. There's no 60fps video. You can only record slow motion with it.

not because without reason Samsung withdrew from the market, Nikon has bought Samsung's mirrorless camera technology to compete with SONI and other brands in the future
Actually, I think that was just a rumour that samsung and nikon officially denied.
Remembered they were lagging behind Sony in sales for mirrorless despite pumping in lots of money. Plus the market for dedicated camera was slowly dying, as more consumers were just satisfied with smartphone cameras.

For mirrorless you dont have to worry, I think electronic shutter naman sya (not mechanical). Are you planning to buy lenses after the purchase? You also have to check the ecosystem of both Samsung NX and Canon M.

so if you are not buying lens ever, go with RX100. 😉
it has faster and better optics. though smaller sensor, sabi mo nga di ka naman bibili ng lens so its better than kit lens.

there's no mic jack. you can use external and merge it in post.

@@GadgetRevNow thank you so much for responding so fast much appreciated 🙏🏼 but what about the whole external microphone thing also what else don't you like about it and what other cams do you suggest for example I have the option of Canon 1100d eos ( it's abit more expensive I'm aware but not a huge price difference as far as im aware ) and if not any of those what do you suggest in the same price range of the NX or a tiny bit higher

Thanks for your video; really great work. I purchased this camera brand new in 2014 and really like it, especially that you can edit the photos on the camera itself without the need for a computer. However the focusing system has, for me, a big problem in that when taking photos of people indoors with the supplied flash, it frequently absolutely refuses to take the photo. The explanation is that the subject people are too indistinct from the background and that you should move the people. The camera obviously thinks it is doing the user a favour. I strongly disagree as the moment is usually lost. Also if you are able to actually move the subject people the same refusal often persists. I also have a less sophisticated Canon camera that always, without exception, takes this sort of photo with always good results in proportion to its fewer pixels and non CMOS lens. Can you give me any advice regarding this problem or is there a means of over-riding the Samsung camera's refusal to take the photo ? I would be most appreciative. Thanks very much.

Which NX lenses would you recommend? I have a NX300 which seems working alright but images are always very dark (vs what would be expected with the manual settings, but also happens when in auto), so I’m thinking maybe a change of lens would help? I’ll also try to find an adaptor to use one of my Canon lens (since someone here recommended it, wow, never knew), but if there’s a nice NX lens that’s cheap and pretty useful, I will definitely buy. I mostly use it for family reunions, at home for portraits, and strolls around nature. Thanks! Super helpful video.

I wish u had talked about the app to transfer the files by wifi, I changed phones this year n can't find it to download anymore... My last phone has a very bad battery life and I still have the app there, just can't use it.
Downloaded safely from here yesterday for my nx3000... just approve all time location access (not sure why) but works perfectly now...camera still amazing after 6 years bought it for dirt cheap
I have same problem. Can't find any supporting application to download photo from camera via WiFi. Looks like since Samsung stop all support for camera, they have no supporting application like Samsung mobile link anymore.

Hi i have serious question if you familiar with varicolour filter that people use on film camera can it be used on mirrorless camera too? Sorry i just dont really know about camera but i have one this samsung nx.
O yeah, I had it before. Hmmm... Mix feeling about it. Looks like a toy for me. That's not what professional photographers will use. Shoot in raw and post process whatever you like. When you use those filters, image will be bound/limited to the chosen color.

Yeah, check the thread size of your lens. Whatever youre using. Search varicolour filter example on Amazon and look for the thread size. You will just screw it in.

@@JuusoHoo it doesnt had Clean HDMI Output, only Media Output, or Slideshow, u only can send the gallery images or videos trought the HDMI, no liveview.

It might be cheap but you are buying into an obsolete and dead ecosystem. There weren't that many lenses made for the Samsung mount in the first place and you will really struggle to find these.
Agree the only downside is the aging and obsolete ecosystem!
