Basically what he’s trying to accomplish is zone 2 cardio. Much lower impact on joints, burns fat as opposed to carbs and doesn’t tax the nervous system as much
This is the super secret that bodybuilders do that nobody ever wants to follow because they want to mix performance training with zone 2 fat burn cardio. Most people do cardio at Zone 4-5 and never burn fat
Yes but none of that matters when you bring calories into it which is the main point otherwise you're doing all these random formulas of speeds x heart rates carbs vs sugar vs carbs vs fat meanwhile you can be eating over your deficit and actually gain fat...
To answer this question better, weight and height matters drastically. If I followed cbums settings I would not get the same results. My heart rate would be 105-110 max (I’ve been using a close setting for a while). Everyone’s at a different physical level when it comes to cardiovascular endurance. Your goal should be to maintain 125-135 for 20 minutes minimum of your trying to lose body fat. Personally I use stair-mill speed 7 for 30 minutes fasted, 20 minutes post workout.
It is but it definitely hard on the shins. I was doing it for a while on weeks having 1 hour days, 45min days to 30min days. Its taxing over time. But I LOVE it!
Yeah anywhere above 10% incline and 3.5 speed is SOLID and you’ll burn calories much faster. I typically do 15-25 minute sessions like this and throw on a TH-cam video
I do 5 stoped warm up 7 spped to get to going then try to run a whole mile in 10 speed with 0% incline if done right you get you mile done in 6:40 minutes
The thing about this is, his height plays a role in this. How long his legs and stridel are. So if the person who is asking this is asking for themselves, you are different unless you have his leg length, it won't apply to you. Oh and Chris, you are my Pic to win sir.
This comment is irrelevant. It’s not like it makes that much of a difference if you’re a few inches taller or shorter in terms of stride length, especially since you’re on a treadmill where everyone has relatively similar strides. And he also listed his target heart rate, which is what you should be aiming for regardless.
They key here is 125-130 beats per minute on the heart rate. He's describing zone 2 cardio where you burn the most fat. Everyone has zone 2 regardless of height.
That's crazy impressive. That's faster than kipchoge on a torturous Incline. I've seen people try to run his pace on normal Incline and fit people can only do it for 3 minutes
I typically do: Incline 8/Speed 4.5mph because my goal is to burn 200+ calories per mile of cardio. I typically try an burn 2,000 calories a week on 3 days of cardio so 3.0mph would just take too long.

Hi Chris Bamstead, I am very interested in you and I like your body very much. Can you tell me how many years he has been training and what is the best protein for volume and cutting?
Interesting do. I’d say that while this form of cardio keeps you from losing mass it also doesn’t push your heart to its limit of strengthening. 170 is max bpm for 25-30 during cardioI’m guessing your about that age range. Maybe this maybe why so many brothers have been take. Out by heart complications, weak hearts and but strong bodies 😢the engine couldn’t carry the weight of the vehicle.
It's not made to push your heart of strengthening limit. It's made for fat loss efficiency. When your heart rate is 170 you're burning carb energy. Not fat energy. Max should be 160 bpm. However depending on your age it should be lower. You don't need high intensity
