Saw a CK video a few weeks back first time in years and saw a video from you guys as a suggestion. Gave it a chance and have been addicted since! Rly nice content guys!
24:00 I guess you are referring to Okeksii Novikov, who lifted 246 kg with that "Flinstone barbell" lift in WSM 2022, he is not competing this time. Second place that year was 240 with a behind the neck push press by Tom Stoltman. My guess is that Both Mitch Hooper and Lucas Hatton will surpass or be very near Oleksii's weight at the Arnolds.
concerning strongman style deadlifts, i think that another reason to favor more posterior chain is that the sport itself demands so much of that side of your body, it is going to be massively strong. so to me they are just playing into that strength with letting the knees come back a bit earlier.
Yousefi got (it looks like) knee surgery yesterday, no details on exactly why or what speficic tissues have issues. But we can safely assume knee pain, likely tendonitis. As seen at worlds and a couple posts of him with ice on his knees in the gym. No performance problems, just weightlifter pains.
Work on protracting your shoulders a bit more in the set up to create a shelf for the bar to rest upon so you can support it better with your trunk rather than having to fight and keep it there with your arms. Aslong as your elbows are infront of the bar they don’t to be stupidly high especially if you’ve got long forearms
as long as you don’t specifically need to have the front rack for weightlifting purposes, i’ve found a zombie setup a more comfortable position as a bigger guy who myself has issues maintaining the front rack.
@@jenconvertibles yep if you’re not a weightlifter zombie squats are 100% a viable option if you want the stimulus of a front minus the mobility demands. They’re even a good teaching tool when mobility is present to remind people where the bar should rest
Its hard, but it’s just like anything; if you work on it all the time it can be done. Just have to work on mobility on a daily basis, and eventually it can be done by anybody. I had horrible front rack mobility, but am decent now after a few years of work
23:10 no its not a result of the suit. Its because hitching and ramping is allowed, so its daft not to train it (seeing as you can usually lift abit more)
Super edition Gents, I love your work!! I think Taniela Tupou has done 300 kg good depth but he is also one of the freakiest mesomorphs on the planet. A mate of mine is the high performance manager of his new club so I'll ask what he has done currently in pre-season. I still love Andy Sheridan's 220 kg bench press OMG!
@@kurupt7154 is that Taniela or Andy?? I worked with the Wallabies for the 2019 WC and Taniela squatted an easy 270 kg in a training camp where the players knew they were getting flogged, the head S&C then is now the HP manager under Schmidt so I will ask what his best is. As for Sheriden's bench I also worked with Trevor Woodman Andy's loosehead when they won the 2003 WC so I think he would know. But in case you are a Hurricanes fan I have heard crazy numbers for Neemia Tialata back in the day so definitely a modern Tighthead has squatted 300 kg or more.
Oh yeah, we're so back
Love the Strongman content 💪
kovacs is a beast but i would love to see you guys reacting to some of ryan crousers plyo work

Impressive Front Squattin

Could you guys actually do a video where you guess the lifter based on the silhouette instead of humblebragging about it every video😅
The issue with the front squat for big guys like me is the inability to get that front rack position.

@@clintiacuone1703 yeah, obviously best case scenario is to just work on mobility for the front rack but for some it’s just not feasible

Would be fun if a strongman show threw in a front squat event (crossed arms allowed obviously)
The karami cnj is some grit jeeez
Bingo wings, I’ve always called it lunch lady arms living in Canada 😂
👍
did you see jamal browner doing a 800lbs snatch grip deadlift?
its insane in anycase but i wonder: when you use straps, is a snatch grip deadlift really much harder than a deficit deadlift?
@@sdafsf of course it is. different upper body mechanics
@@sdafsf yes.

Plus they are more often training for max rep efforts rather than max weight. Clear the knees and hitch is very effective for reps.
🎉🎉🎉🎉
Good luck in the six nations lads, except against England of course
