I'm 60 Years Old and This Band is the Reason I Started Playing Harmonica, I'm no John Popper, but unless I'm Sick, I Spend at Least 45 Minutes a Day Playing. It's been so much FUN, my Only Regret is that I didn't Start 40 Years ago. 😎🎶
Damn right. Some of the very, very best live playing of blues and rock n' roll I have ever seen and listened to. Brilliant lyrics and musicianship. 1K "thumbs up" ??!! - WTF IS WRONG WITH YT VIEWERS SOMETIMES#$@^@#$ That is a crime and ridiculous.
The amount of talent on that stage is unmatched. Poppers runs on harmonica and that fucking voice man… good god he is one of a kind. Lots of singers disappoint when they take lower octaves live than the recording… this guy pushes them up at times and give 150%. So much respect for that
sometime in the 90's when i was about 10-12 i met him at giant (might have been clemens at the time)in Quakertown(he's a local), nicest guy ever, talked to me and my dad for a bit.
Hey everyone, big classical, prog, metal and rock lover here. Just wanted to say that Blues Traveler is incredible, and this man plays harmonica better than 90% of the guitarists I know. Not to mention the songs are catchy, fun, and witty as fuuuuckkkk. Also they tend to play stuff that really hits you at your core. Very prolific, wish they had more legitimate fame, just so more people knew how good they are.
Oh all the things there are to love about Popper, I think it’s lyricism I appreciate the most. His words are always intended to dig deep into your heart in the silliest and goofiest ways.
This concert video pulled me out of a mega-heavy shroom trip that was going bad, 5 years ago. Thank you to the uploader for facilitating that and to Blues Traveler for playing it in the first place. Big love.
i know how that goes my man and the connection you feel with something that makes everything better is so awesome. that being this would have me nerding out hard on BT
Without a doubt the best live band I’ve seen. Saw them in 1996 on Maui. 5,000 person Arts and Cultural Pavillion. I’d been a fan for a couple years already so I knew the soaring musical chops these four guys brought from the four albums I’d been memorizing. But holy hot lava hell !!! The note for note passion and precision and the fun they were having let me know this was a concert like no other. Over 2 hrs of what I would say mucus longs to be… fully unbridled and ridden hard. I have a harp and drumstick that were tossed to crowd still as reminders. And by the way that yer I saw on Maui: Santana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, NoDoubt, Gregory Isaacs, Jackson Browne, Ziggy Marley…. And many more blues and reggae acts. All were overshadowed by John Popper, Chan Chinchla, Bobby Sheehan..RIP, and Brendan Hill. Never heard music played with that commitment and focus live before.
I was 20 years old when I discover Blues Travelers at 1997. My music teacher was trying to teach me blues grass music. I did not understand it until I discovered Blues Travelers. Oh yeah. Blues grass is country music on steriods. :D Miss you big tiime John. The gods takes always the best first.
I Love this band. My college roommate had the first album and played the cd often. I was "hooked" ever since. Seeing Bobby Sheehan on bass here makes me both happy and sad. He gave the band such a great "groove".
Eric Senich yeah he sure did. The fat man (which he called himself for those who want to freak out that I just wrote that😛!) He brought joy wherever he went. What an enormous loss. And Ziggy... my heart
I am an amateur harmonica player but this group has always been my favorite bluesy group! I can listen to them on "repeat" all day long. Thanks for posting this. Extremely talented! His Cat Stevens-type voice goes perfect with the whole entourage of instruments and the fact he writes his own music adds to the package!
Thank you John for a great band and some of the most awesome harmonica skills I've been blessed to hear. Very glad for youtube for allowing us all access to some of the best bands in history
This was the Horde Festival. I was there that night. Also playing on stage that day? Rusted Root, some guy named Lenny Kravitz and Dave Matthews Band. It was an incredible musical experience.
I have adored this band for YEARS! Thank you Blues traveler for the best tunes anywhere!! You're going to be 6 miles from me in Franklin, Ohio. I wish I could go! Gb ~🥰Mamaw Christy
Speaking of legendary segues It's funny. I'm reminded, once upon a time in college, someone said to me on my way to my first Dead show: "They're not the best at what they do, but they're the only ones who do it" When I saw BT that same year ('89), I found the band that WAS the best at what they did. And they are the only ones who do it, still to this day
I actually full on became a believer in Traveler after not really listening to musiic following a run of seemingly endless tradgedies; but you can't keep a blues lover down, and Z-Dog and I are happily watching/listening to BT play shoreline amphitheature on 9/03/95 - now, THAT was a great year, with a great show to match!!
Dan, I'm one of the most unconventional Drummers in history and I'm fu%ken' awesome mate. Technique is for clinical Drummers, like Neil Peart ( Rush )and I despise Rush. Give me Paul Cook from THE SEX PISTOLS ANY DAY, IT'S REAL AND ORGANIC DRUMMING. GINGER BAKER FROM CREAM IS ONE OF THE BEST.
They did a free show at the University of alabama in 98/99 and I caught his "a" harp at the end...had it on the shelf for years and then one day it fell into a bag of trash I took outside and burned. I was heartbroken.
They are all on fire during this performance. I think I have yet to see a video of a BT show where they aren't tight and beyond satisfactory. Chan really is a virtuoso on the guitar. They each truly pour their souls into what they are doing. All contributing their best, doing their individual jobs, culminating into what you see here, a band with exceptional chemistry and love for what they are doing! 🤘👍
Chan plays real bluesy on major scales - not an easy thing to do. I really dig it. Not thrilled with the hair band tone but it works with Bobby's low bass grooves. Love his solo on "Just Wait". Met the band at the '95 MTV Movie Awards when I was working as a PA. All very cool cats. Bobby brought soooo much to the band. RIP.
Saw these guys live last night in Mission Viejo, Ca. They put on a killer show. John's voice isn't as strong as it used to be, but the harmonica skills never left.
Yeah i just saw them two nights ago and you could see it was hard for him to sing. He was really straining, and drinking tea between lines... looked painful, but still sounded awesome. Rough time of year for vocalists.. cold and flu season and whatnot.
He sounded GREAT tonight! I was really happy with the show and surprised that they still sounded as great as I remember ❤ They killed it, Nashville traffic bedamned. Lol.
BOB was the greatest. He's on the back while the band and guests are jamming. He knows he needs to be there. To be the structure. And to have the best seat in the house.
Saw them in 96' at HORDE. They were just a full package rock band. Here, Popper is a triple threat with his vocal, instrument, and lyric writing skills and is surrounded by amazing players.
magnifique a l 'harmonica merci a jhon popper et ses musiciens ,j viens de l decouvrir ,de toute beautée!!!merci a pawn star c est eux qui me l on fait connaitre!!!
I saw them on this Horde tour in 95. It's now 2023. I just saw them in concert two days ago and they're still kicking ass. (They're currently touring with Big Head Todd and the Monsters who are also still kicking ass!)
Such an awesome show. JP is my all time favorite and this show proves why. Love this band since 91 when they came to play for free at a college in Upstate NY. GONYGONYGO BTNY
i'm so stoned rn. I remember my dad had Thieves on CD in the truck all the time when i was growing up. I always dug these guys after that. Rock on man.
❤This is epic❤ ...hey, so i know im late to the party, hut just noticed that John Popper is open carrying a Katana onstage...fkng badass 🤘🏼 love you guys ❤❤❤❤❤
Hands down! Epic! Knockout! I love you guys. John Popper how do you do it all. I dont think people understand the magnitude of your skills. Love you brother..
I met the man back stage. Took a selfie with him because he is amazingly talented. 6 shows and counting.
ROCK ON, FRIEND ❤
Do you have an IG or a TH-cam channel? Harmonica is becoming a lost art!
Enough spaces between........... Words?

No. I don't think
so.
What a band man. They don't get the respect they deserve.

they were full of insane genius groove - with Popper as a master harmonicist on top of the talent
Popper filled in for Dicky Betts with the Allman Brothers. What he does with a mouth harp is sublime.
Popper gets the respect
I agree with you Ashley they jam out I love the Blues Travelers I've been jamming out to them since I can't remember when
The amount of talent on that stage is unmatched. Poppers runs on harmonica and that fucking voice man… good god he is one of a kind. Lots of singers disappoint when they take lower octaves live than the recording… this guy pushes them up at times and give 150%. So much respect for that
I randomly sat next to John Popper on a plane one time. Very nice guy. He seemed to be both honored and surprised that I knew who he was haha.
that is a lucky place you were in
sometime in the 90's when i was about 10-12 i met him at giant (might have been clemens at the time)in Quakertown(he's a local), nicest guy ever, talked to me and my dad for a bit.
Incredible band that has stood the test of time. Who starts a show with 3 bangers right out of the gate? Popper is a wizard

You know it man. Seen almost everyone... these guys four times... very tight talented musicians. Put on an amazing concert
I saw them on the Horde tour in the middle 90’s!! Amazing !!
Oh all the things there are to love about Popper, I think it’s lyricism I appreciate the most. His words are always intended to dig deep into your heart in the silliest and goofiest ways.
You are absofinglutly correct brother

No comments, really? This is one of the greatest bands of all time people. Take notice and recognize, BT is the shit!!!!!
I like it
Dam right ! I love it !!!
Affirmative, Agreed, and Amen. Forgive my naive question, plz tell me what happened to them.
Warmest regards to You and Yours, in advance...

Is no one going to mention that John played that entire set with a frickin sword strapped to his waist? Peak Blues Traveler.
LOL I would not have noticed. He should have had a different color so it stood out more!
@@perseusrex614 As far as I am concerned, if he wants to wear a sword. Go for it. Man's a gobslide legend.
It's a part of his japanese armor outfit.
I was gonna comment on that too. How many musicians nowadays do you see on stage looking like a freaking bandito samurai?
A sword and a entire belt with ten harmonicas on it. That's nuts.
Blues Traveler PLAYING MUSIC with full passion , greetings from INDIA BHARAT and DUBAI

If you were "hooked" by Hook, that was their fourth album. The three before it are even better!! ❤️😺🚬❤️
"Take us home, spaceman."
Hook is a classic song and brings back fond memories of the 90's. Love it
Jason Wang i love that song

Not that anyone asked me, but I think these guys are so underrated as a group and individually. Especially John's vocals.

Saw these dudes at Red Rocks. Absolutely insane concert. Popper is incredible live!!!
I'm outside, on my porch, playing this, and all the birds came to the 50 foot pine tree, and sang along 😋

They are on tour again playing small venues like when they 1st broke out.
This is AMAZING musicianship - ALL FOUR of them...
Blues traveler are incredible live ! Seen them at red rocks 17 times .
Brendan Hill underrated drummer from the 90s. Best at keeping the jam going on. Never missing a beat.

I got to know them from the film Kingpin. Love every song of them !

It was wonderful. I'm meeting the band just now. The "what i got" version of the sublime was also perfect.
Men were still tying their shirt/jacket around their waist in 1995, just wanted to mention that.
I still love it. 61 and ain't done....
For me, John Poper is one of the best harmonists in all of New Jersey, he is my favorite forever uffffffffffffff!!!
Every now and then you see something you can’t ignore, this is that
What draws me in about this particular concert is the tone of the guitar that thing is just growling yo
