    Re: Gathering up your personal getting ready stuff: Put a Gold Star on items that belong to the Bride! They are pretty easy to remove & are often sold in multi-colored packs, so your girls can each pick a color. Then have a labeled ziploc or packing cube for all of it to get chucked into- that way you can have 1 pre-wedding bag that's ready to go except for AM items.

    Warning if you decide to go barefoot: there could be broken glass! I went to a wedding a few years ago and someone stepped on a small piece of glass the staff missed when they cleaned up. Luckily the wedding was full of people in the medical field and we just had to find the sober-set one, but it would definitely be a bigger deal if no one wants to pull glass out of your feet for you!

      @@alexiscormier4059 I would be very careful. It of course comes down to personal preference, but glasses can still break even if everyone is sober. @@bellaloves8656 Right? I’m asking this because my bf & I are actively talking about getting engaged, & our favorite meal shared is pretty much brunch. So I know brunch will have to be part of the wedding somehow. I want a full weekend event (Friday rehearsal dinner, Saturday wedding & Sunday brunch) because how often do all of our families & friends from both sides come together for happy occasions on that large of a scale? NEVER! At least in my case. But that costs a lot of money, especially paying for everyone’s accommodations. Having just a Sunday brunch wedding with a daytime ceremony I’m sure will cut costs significantly, plus people won’t have to take off from work, & I can possibly have an after party with our closest people so that I don’t miss out on the party aspect. All that crazy, drunk sweaty dancing is my jam lol won’t really happen from drinking bottomless mimosas & bloody Mary’s...or will it 🤔😂

Dancing isn’t really our thing and we absolutely love breakfast foods. Instead of a cake, we are doing a waffle bar. I’m so excited. It definitely cut costs down with having out of town guests. 75 people for under $4k is pretty good I think

    Here's one for the books. Attended a wedding for a woman who originally wanted me to coordinate her wedding but went with another person. No issues, it was an amicable decision. At the reception everyone was enjoying themselves and then I hear an announcement, "Now that the bride & groom have cut the cake, you may now serve yourself". It was a multi-layer fondant cake AND the wedding coordinator apparently decided she did't want to do it (don't know why). Not sure why the catering staff didn't do it either. As I watched a happy group of children beeline for the cake table, the planner in me got up and tried to beat them to it. I couldn't let a self-serve cake fiasco happen. I sliced and served her cake to over 100 people. Did I mention I hate fondant???

    I'm sorry.... I just can't get passed you getting heat for the point about wedding vendor meals... I'm not a wedding vendor, but a fellow human who understands that humans in general need to eat. Yes, with many other jobs, employees are responsible for feeding themselves. HOWEVER, considering the fast-paced nature of a wedding schedule, you'd think people would be more understanding!
    YES! At my wedding, I will be feeding our vendors - maybe that's just a sandwich in a to-go bag. Maybe they will eat the same thing us and our guests are eating.. But there will be NO starving vendors at our wedding, unless THEY feel like they're not hungry and don't want to eat! Know why? Because they're human too, damnit! And I have the "audacity" to think that humans need nourishment! Regardless of whether they're vendor staff or not!

    • @akreeger7742
      @akreeger7742 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      I found this one odd as well. You want them to work your event, do a good job and be there the whole time, you feed them?! This isn't a normal 9-5 job where leaving for lunch is okay.

      Honestly, several of my vendor contracts REQUIRE I provide vendor meals. I'm sure every vendor is different, but I think this is also becoming the norm, as it should be. Vendors are people too!!

    • @ElliePorges
      @ElliePorges 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I got very frustrated having to provide the same hot meal that we were serving our guests to our vendors as in any other job including fast paced ones you bring your own food or fend for yourself and because most vendors have breaks and don't work a full day, other then the wedding planner. They work the hours they dictate. I was very frustrated having to spend another 100 dollars on each vendor. They dictate their prices as well. Yes everyone is human and needs to eat but it's also everyone's responsibility to take care of themselves.

I’ve seen that you get for parents who are contributing but I’ve also seen that you get them as a general thank you for raising the human you’re marrying. What are your favorite gifts (to the wedding party and family) and what are ones you’ve cringed thinking, “I wouldn’t have done that”.

    Regarding the point of somebody being in charge of the marriage certificate, I had a co-worker once who got married and forgot to submit the marriage license form. Cut to six months later he found out that she cheated on him with one of her co-workers so their marriage ended and that's when he found out that the paperwork was never submitted so essentially they just had a really expensive party. 🙃

    Hi Jamie,
    It's Mig. Thank you for continuing to be a great resource! As a former vendor, our meals were part of our contract. I always suggested having a specific time associated (i.e. 6-7: set one; 7-7:30: band meal break; 7:30-8: set two, etc.). I'd also arrange to have ALL vendors eat at the same time so we didn't miss anything important in the overall wedding timeline.

    I will treat my vendors as my guests. My wedding is this Fall and we are lucky to have hired so many wonderful people to help us out that day... And there is no way I would let them go hungry. I understand that hiring wedding professionals is expensive, but at the same time trust them completely that their time is worth my buck. They are the ones working their asses off that day, and the least I can do is provide them with some warm food. I might be stingy when it comes to decor and might cut expenses here and there, but no way would I leave my vendors to fend for themselves when they spend their whole day devoted to my wedding. For all those out there in the wedding industry, thank you for your hard work!

  • @charlottehardman3669
    @charlottehardman3669 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    On the vendor meals point- my fiancé used to be a DJ (in the UK, so normally they would only do the evening portion of a wedding), and they were hired for an all-day event, which was very rare for them. However, despite the fact that they were onsite in a remote field from 11am until 1am, they were not provided any food. My fiancé did take a Pot Noodle with him just in case (he’s vegetarian so sometimes has to be careful about food prepared by other people), and a kettle to fill with water, but as soon as he plugged the kettle in, it caused the generator to surge and all the power went off 😅 They got it back up and running again after about 15 minutes, but that is a lesson in what can happen if you don’t feed vendors! 😂

    -Our makeup artists will be with us in the morning for 2 1/2 hours so I'm going to have muffins and coffee for them.
    -Our hair stylist is also a friend so she will have muffins, coffee, lunch and dinner.
    -My photographer is going to be fed lunch and dinner and she can have getting ready snacks too.
    Do I need to worry about onsite venders? Like the chef who runs the kitchen for the restaurant that will be open at the same time as our wedding, or the people who bring the plates to the tables for dinner etc; I'm probably overthinking things..

I want to have photos of our first dance, cake cutting and then evening photos outside...all after dinner but there won't be time if dinner eats up 2 hours of her on the clock....how do I deal with this? Do I need to buy more time? Is it reasonable for the dinner time to count on her being on the clock? If she is on the clock during dinner, I don't need her to take photos of us stuffing our faces so do I just have her over at our DIY photobooth and let guests know to head over and get photos taken during dinner?
