Haters just don't understand. Tracks are fun, but you can't just power through everything. A little finesse is sometimes needed and the easiest looking route isn't always the best route.
I carried a couple 2ft. 2x6's with me for those times the tracks get hung up.
Max-Trax's or equivalent would be a great help for those expeditions you guys go on.
    Expensive?- yup.
    Fuel heavy? - yup.
Slow? - slower than on tires, but a tank is slower than a Corvette. Different animals.
    Fun?- yup. Fun as hell.
    Great video.

Why the heck dont more people use airbag jacks. You just gotta dig a few inches under the sunk end to slide in the bag, fill'er up and lift the machine, shovel in the hole and off ya go.

Hello from P.G, in the80s if i remember right, Timberjack came out with a 450 skidder that had tracks, the one set back was because the tracks are a triangle tey would porpoise {dive} under tree`s that were off the ground a bit or buried in the snow and then we had to dig down to the tree and cut it out, this happens because the front idle wheel is too small to climb over things. The tracks on SXS`s willd o the same and whencrossing ice can also do the same. I saw guys in Australia use plastic tracks, called Mat tracks to span the holes over water cuts and to drop off of sharp banks to smooth the transition. There are many different kinds from $70.00 to over $300.00. These Mat track also double as a shovel and were originally designed for sand and 4X4`s are heavier than SXS`s so i would get the cheap set. So when you get a track porpoising just dig a bit if you have to and shove a mat track under then you have a bridge.

Keith you are right. Side by sides are good on groomed trails. Any deep or powder is what we are watching. Idiots. I have been snowmobiling for over 40 years and even the best of us can get stuck with a quality snowmobile and lots of experience. Heading out onto ungroomed snow is often frustrating and dangerous for solo or out of shape riders. Sweat and exhaustion in cold air are your enemies.

The first minute into the video and watching the side x side get stuck brings back bad memories. Inexperienced riders don't realize how often this happens on poorly or ungroomed trails. It is a serious concern for riders wo are older and out of shape. Heart issues are a constant danger. This kind of physical activity in cold weather is a set up for an M.I.
