I have to say I really love Ed O'Neill's candor and articulation, in this long interview. I think Ed's a terrific person in real life. He really shows that in this video.
You know you're an icon when you ain't never won an Emmy and EmmyTVLegends still wants three hours with you. Seriously, he was never even nominated for AL Bundy. Only been nominated twice for Modern Family. Hollywood didn't wanna reward a guy for creating a character regular guys cheered for. Legacy of Married with Children" Can't agree with Ed there. It has a legacy, and the times we live in have made the legacy even more profound and impactful. Dutch was an awesome movie. Awesome. Let no one tell you different.
Married with Children was a great show. The characters had chemistry and the show was actually funny, very funny! Unlike the shows today, the vast majority of the sitcoms are weird, not fun. I don't watch television much these days because of it, thankfully we can watch the old shows on tape. A wonderful interview Ed and thanks for the laughs!
My cousin's cousin is from Youngstown and got a lead role on the pilot of "Dragnet" because Ed threw him a bone. Good guy, you don't see that much today.
He was successful at playing Al because in deep down, ...he is Al. The Amanda B story really proves it. He and David Faustino were playing themselves most of the time, and the jokes they would tell on the show to the Marsy character were real jokes to them, and that is why the jokes came out so real and so funny. And that is why Amanda would not invite them to her wedding, because Ed and David actually made fun of her during the shooting of the show...
Eds been my favorite actor for many many years 2nd to Christopher Reeves and John Ritter. Katey has been my favorite actress. When I heard Katey and John Ritter were teaming up as a married couple from 8 Simple Rules back in 2000 I was shocked outta my wits! What were the odds?! Still, Ed remains the best t.v. husband she'll ever have, and yes, that even goes for Ron Pearlman from Sons of Anarchy. I own all of the Married with Children seasons as well as 8 Simple Rules. Ed and Katey are the best married family sitcom since The Bunkers or The Cosbys.
Great interview. Dutch was a stupid movie and did terrible, but I liked it and if it came on today I'd watch it. He could have done a lot worse. I loved Spartan too.
love this interview..he is SO real. just tells it like it is, no fake stuff
He really takes his time an interview of almost 3 hours!! What a great guy your my hero AL (ed)

This guy is too awesome. I love him since I was 'little' watching Married With Children, and now he's on Modern Family which is almost as good ;)
