Jim, hey nice video, nice setup, I'm in the process of making my own generator enclosure, I've gone the route of treated lumber and sheet metal. I've seen several videos and noticed most have a fan, mounted with a louvered vent. I get it needs airflow, but if the top(lid) and front doors are open, why the need for the fan? Even if I did and exhaust extension to discharge out the side, is a fan needed? My set up is the duromax dual fuel 13000 EH. To the power inlet to the panel (interlock kit) any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated sir.
    Again awesome video

Ryan, It has been my experience here in the northeast part of the country that when my power goes out, it is usually in a storm, either rain or snow. So my enclosure is usually closed when running to protect it from the elements. Since these generators were not designed to be run in an enclosure they get hot, and not just from the exhaust. The fan is necessary to pull fresh air in and around the genset to keep it from overheating. Especially with your larger genset I would not risk running it in an enclosure without a fan. Especially when you do not know how long it may be running. It is cheap insurance to keep your generator from overheating. Good luck with your project!
