    Peter Erskine is one of those sleeping giants. there's a lot of subtle finesse, dexterity and genius in his work, but he's not a show off. but when he decides to really break it out, he'll fucking floor you

      After Freddie Gruber passed away, Neil Peart continued his lessons with Peter Erskine. That's who Peter Erskine is - the man a Professor goes to for lessons.

    Awesome! Love Pete's playing! I did a lot of that hi hat stuff back in the day. It was almost unconsiuos for me. The hi hat splash and chick chick stuff. Very cool!! Had the great privilege of watching him live in a small venue in LA back in 2001 I think it was. Not more than 10 feet away. Just incredible stuff! Amazing drummer!! Thanks, Pete!

    I love how he just slightly edits the chord tension. What a maestro

    Thats a bravery drummer. He dont need any mic to put or any EQ while to teach us. Some drummer are very buzy to put EQ, choose the high quality studio, the sound and set the very perfect tuning to the drum went they're do their video.. All that is to make their self look good in our viewing (not the quality of teaching). Some of them just too show off..
    Thanks peter, the drum sound was pure just like in our home. And that very realistic. The explain and the lesson is very absorb just because of that.

    I really enjoyed Mr. Erskines grooves on the studio work with Weather Report.
    Volcano for Hire drumming was like a stew pot bubbling to near overflow but controlled and tasty...that is Peter Erskines percussion feel .

      He also did a stint with Steely Dan in the 90s and has played with hundreds of artists as a session musician including Joni Mitchell. I love his playing on the Michael Franks album Blue Pacific.

      Don't miss his beautifully subtle, mostly ballad, playing on Kurt Elling's Flirting with Twilight, to say nothing of his rock-solid playing on the Bob Mintzer Big Band's first album, Incredible Journey (if you can find a copy,) and on Jaco's live album, Invitation, to name a few.

    what flavor of K Con is he playing there?

    • @jemangs
      @jemangs 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a Zildjian 22 K Constantinople Medium Ride. But his ride has special hammering, especially around the bell (can show pictures). Newer models are very similar though but older often had a "week bell" that made them sound "hollow" (I've owned four of them but have now one very similar to his)
