    Just remember...Neville earned that extra ten points that put Gryffendor over the top for the House Cup in their first year. Dumbledore saw something in Neville that noone else cared to see. He had the real bravery of a Gryffendor.

    IMO and m what I've noticed about the sortings is that the students are sorted not so much into houses whose qualities fit their strengths but their potential.
    Hermione could have been sorted into Ravenclaw, but she was already academically smart and astute. Judging from the first year, she had fears of going the lengths off risking her greatest fear, expulsion. (yes, the boggart turned into McGonagall telling her she failed all her classes. I think it amounts to the same thing.)
    Although I think the troll might have shifted her perspective a bit.
    A bit.
    Neville seemed like a plain boy by both magical and muggle standards.
    I agree with Dumbledore, tho, that it takes a great deal of courage to stand up to your friends.
    Just like hard work in a tough course and bringing your grade up from an F to a D or C, these points were hard won. When such a low grade is hard won, the effort makes it worth more than the zoom to top of the class in an easier (to you) class.
    Neville goes from being hung on a chandelier to being the quickest to learn certain defensive spells, surpassing most DA lags, and sometimes Hermione as well.
    Neville is a gentle soul, and I don't hate him being a Herbology and Charms master.
    Maybe he fills in for Flitwick sometimes? Who becomes charms teacher after Flitwick?

    Neville was one of two possible saviors prophesied. He killed the snake. He was one of the saviors.

      Exactly, neither ones actions alone were enough to win the final battle but their actions combined did

      So true and that basically made him their hidden weapon, Voldy didn’t know that part of the prophecy if I remember correctly so he didn’t see him as a threat and underestimated him.

      Neville has always flown below the radar; however from year one, he has always come through at critical times in the narrative

    I see Neville as that person who kind of is in the background and doesn't really wow anyone at first. But when the chips are down he'll step up and you'll be glad he had your back.

    Neville was just fine, but he was quashed by his gran. Sad. He deserved better. With Harry, you can understand why he was quashed, but with Neville...his Gran was a true witch. Why was he so quashed. Turns out, Neville was a true hero and a true Gryffendor.

    Great Uncle Algie didn't throw Neville out of a window. He was dangling him over a balcony & was asked if he wanted a cream cake. Forgot he was holding Neville, let go & Neville bounced down the path. Check the books before you make such sweeping statements

    As we learn with Draco's wand, when Harry took it, loyalty changes when the owner is defeated. When Draco used his mother's wand, he noticed it didn't work quite right, as its loyalty was still with dear old mum. Frank was mentally destroyed by dark wizards, and so its loyalty was not transferred to the son, but would have been scattered.

      Holly wood, dragon heart string core, 12½",slightly spring for me.
      It's going to take discipline to wield this wand, though it will learn fast and be loyal as long as I'm the owner of my wand.
      I imagine it would do well with charms.
      I would want to learn household charms.

    The Longbottoms were tortured because the Deatheaters thought they knew the location of Voldemort. They did not know this (no one did) and were thus incapable of spilling secrets.

    Is this all from the books or the movies? There are quite a few points that I recall differently than the way they’re being explained here. I’ve only read the books and seen bits of a few of the movies. It’s been some years since I read them, so maybe I will have to go back through them all again to check these story facts.
    For instance, I seem to remember that the shelves fell from all the wand fighting, and that is what made the orbs all fall and break… and all their messages were then released in a chaotic mishmash together. Neville smashed Harry’s orb only by mistake during the chaos. I don’t recall Neville making a decision to smash Harry’s prophecy, let alone ALL of them.

      What was mentioned in the video was destruction of the time-turners - the devices like Hermione had in their third year, allowing her to attend multiple classes at the same time. I don’t recall the books mentioning their destruction as an intentional act, but it did end up happening.

      @didreams969 วันที่ผ่านมา

      the smashing of the prophecy orbs , was done by all of them to hopefully cause confusion and give them time to escape… then sometime later they ended up in the time turners room, and in the fighting the time turners were destroyed, not on purpose, just amidst the chaos… we don’t learn that they were all smashed until ‘the cursed child’

    I want to say that I believe that Neville was a big part of killing Voldemort. In the last battle Neville was the one to kill Nagini, who was the last Horcruxes that was keeping Voldemort soul in. If he has not killed the Snake. Harry would never killed Voldemort in that battle.

    I think Voldemort himself made the choice. And it wasn't even really a choice.
    The prophecy could apply to Nevil or to Harry. No one, not even Dumbledore could know which. And it may have even been like Schrodinger's cat. The "Chosen One" was a superposition between the two boys. Dumbledore would have placed both the Potters and the Longbottoms in hiding, but each hiding location would have been completely independent, known by as few people as possible.
    Voldemort would not have had a problem killing both families and likely planned to do just that. He had no access to the Longbottom's hiding place, but that would not have mattered. Once he attacked one family, the other would surely be moved, and there was a possibility he could learn of the new hiding place.
    And so once he learned of the hiding place of the Potters he moved against Harry. things did not go as planned and so he was never able to move against the Longbottoms.
    Would he have been successful had he attacked the Longbottoms first? Maybe, in that case Nevil would not have been the Chosen One. Harry would still become the Chosen one once Voldemort found him. Perhaps there was a 3rd child to whom the prophecy applied, but Voldemort killed that family first. That would have sparked Dumbledore to hide the Potters and Longbottoms.

    • @rascallhunter
      @rascallhunter 12 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      The prophecy itself says that Voldemort will mark him, not that he will knowingly choose him.
      There were only two possible boys - Dumbledore said as much.
      Given the vagueness of the prophecy, it is hard to say whether Neville would have survived the attack as Harry did, although based on what we know of Alice, she may well have sacrificed herself for Neville the way that Lilly did for Harry.
