    I know HP is a work of fiction, but somehow the actors in the series have made it "human" and "real" ... so reading about Minerva's life, as well as some post-Hogwarts experiences, is fascinating.

    Peter Pettigrew did not sacrifice his own life, he was murdered by Voldemort.
    Do not forget who gave him that hand. True, he gave Peter the magical hand to replace the one Peter cut off, the flesh willingly given, to restore Voldemort. Peter's new hand was much more powerful than the hand it replaced, and while some may have seen it as a gift of gratitude, gratitude was not something Voldemort felt.
    Voldemort did not give anyone anything without a catch. The hand ensured Pettigrew's loyalty. Voldemort knew that Peter was weak. He also knew the debt Peter had with Harry. Harry had saved Peter's life, and this was a debt Peter would need to repay, either forced by magic spell, or by Harry simply reminding Peter of this debt. If Peter had the chance to do it, he would. And so when that happened Peter's magical hand would turn against him, killing him.

    i wonder wear did JK Rawlings come up with the names of the spells and how the work ??

    • @Maholix
      @Maholix 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      Most of, if not all of the spells in Harry Potter are in fact looser Latin, or slightly changed forms of the Latin word.
      For example Expecto patronum means something like "I await my patron" and the spell basically calls forth a person's spirit animal to defend them.
      Expelliarmus, another of Harry's main spells is a combination of Expellere (meaning to cast away) and Arma. (Meaning "arms" or weapon)
      Avada Kedavra is one of the most complex, because it's context matters. It means something slightly different depending on where you believe the phrase comes from. But it roughly translates to "destroy the thing."
      Yet, the way Voldemort uses it could actually translate more accurately to "with my words I destroy."
      There is evidence to suggest that this phrase is a corrupted form of "abracadabra" which itself was more commonly used as a phrase to destroy unwanted illness, so this is particularly in character for Voldemort, who sees others as a blight.
      This actually makes sense because most spells and names in the Harry Potter books have an extended meaning if you dig deep enough.
      For example, "I await my patron" may seem like an odd choice to summon a spiritual defender until you realize that a "patron" is literally a supporter.
      In Harry Potter dementors are personified depression. So calling upon your greatest inner support, an embodiment of your potential, makes them less able to touch you.

      Lol, one of my favorite puns when someone reads Harry Potter is to "I take Umbridge.. with umbrage." So for her name to literally actually mean that is really cool.
