Hi, I would like to know in your video what external mic you use (3:29) and what was the camera tripod. It gives ideas of what we can use for external session like your example. Tks
Hi folks, that H265 225 Mbps codec is approximately equivalent to H264 running at 450 Mbps so should give a very high quality image. Getting easier to post process these days as well, but really H265 is intended for direct to view applications.
When I bought the XF705 it didn't have an MP4 option until the firmware update, can we expect a similar update which would give us the codecs present in the XF605?
PLEASE bring us a 20x optical zoom native in 4K - 20x is SO VERY NECESSARY IN MANY SPORTS!! 4K120/4K100p camcorder recording this in 10bit 4:2:2 MXF/XF-AVC and all the features of this camera!!!! Some greater sensor sensitivity would be nice also for better low light performance. And while we are there, C-LOG 2 so it matches even better with the C70. This would ultimately make it an EXTREMELY versatile / must have camera for shooting sports and events, through to a perfect partner camera for more controlled shoots including scripted and corporate as a great partner to the C70 in particular. Of course Netflix approval would be ideal also right. Full HD 120p looks compressed and VERY mushy....unfortunately.
The B-roll you shot of the camera looks better than the actual example footage from the camera. It looks like the XF605 lens has a very wide depth of field like an iPhone video.
It's a one-inch sensor, shallow depth of field is something camcorder users care very little about. In some instances a large depth of field is desirable, like in sports when you're all zoomed in; in general camcorders trade a larger sensor for no overheating, no recording time limit, very fast autofocus and reduced workload on the in-board computer.
Could you point me in the right direction for a zoom controller for a tripod handle please? I’ve bought this camera but cannot find a zoom controller available on line. Thanks.
The XF605 doesn’t support XF-HEVC as recording format. Its viewfinder is a bit smaller and its display ist also 0,5“ smaller. In addition the XF605 doesn’t come with a digital AES/EBU port - only two analog XLR inputs.
Hello Paul, we bought ourselves the XF605. My wife is filming with her. Super satisfied with it. Last week in Mashatu. Within 5 weeks back to Mashatu for three weeks Okavango. It great to film the wildlife with this camcorder. She filmed in 4K intra frame 25P. This gives big data off course . Do you have suggestions for filming wildlife? Do we better prefer 50P in XF-AVC Long GOP 260Mbps. Is the quality as good as? We are not filming for broadcast or cinema, but just for amateur 4K television for ourselves. What about the picture profile? Is BT709 good? She is using Premiere Pro for editing. Lots of questions, sorry. Maybe you prefer email or messenger.
Hi Paul, What is the low light like on this camcorder? No one says anything about the low light, which makes me worry about it? Thank you for a great review on the camera. Regards, Danny
I've seen vision. Like all smaller sensors it's not that great, but you should really hire one and test it for yourself as it might be fine for what you expect you'll need - that's the best way to tell and to be sure it will suit your applications, and how far you can reasonably push it.
Yes you can. it has everything built in. no need to change lenses and setup gimbals, add filters etc. Time lapse, slow motion everything you need to get great shots with decent audio pre-amps. You might even be able to use this for netflix videos as it records xf-avc 4k as the c300's do.
This camera has nearly everything...but a better lens (f1.8) and a global shutter would make her a beast. But this is probably something for the successor from the XF705.
Looks good on paper. Hope they make available for download some unprocessed sample clips in a few key recording formats. I assume mp4's will be universally compatible with nle's, but rather not leave it to chance.
The XF400 and 405 are no longer available. Unfortunately there is no successor to this small camcorders. The complete XA lineup doesn’t support 4K 50 or 4:2:2 so you have to go with the larger XF605.

I love camcorders. Canon always delivers.
and the price is OK, too! Well done Canon!
the little beast was born ... she really is super gifted..this is for those who love this segment 😉

nice comparison of data rates v quality, thank you.

I Love my XF605. The autofocus picture quality and the custom setting all work together to give me a get-shot every time out.
Did you try it for any fast paced sports? How about rolling shutter? I'm considering to get this one, but the rolling effect is stopping me
How do you turn off the green bar which appears at 4:44?
I love to get this xf605---- I have xf405 now

no, of course, shots with a blurred background are not difficult for this camera

Shut up and take my money! 😂😂 yes this is very powerful!
Can the ethernet port used for NDI protocol???
I ordered mine it will be here on Wednesday.
Do you support i25 format
And what is the difference between the formula i and p
where is the headphone volume control button ?
What are the "Digital Zoom" capabilities?
hi, nice video. question, if I don't want to color graded what's the best picture profile? thanks for the help
Hi! It depends a bit on where your videos will be played, but BT.709, supported by the XF605, is a good place to start.
This is just another version of the C70 with a fix lens. I would have this for event or documentary shots and the C70 for complete commercial shots.
How long can you record on the provided battery?
Wow that’s awesome!
Can you get good depth of field with this camera - haven't seen many shallow depth shots from it....
Excuse me,Do you know when i use PP HLG, why does not have autofocus square point display ? thx....
Does this camera have LNC remote input?
What are the differences aside from weight between the 705 & 605?
Could you point me in the right direction for a zoom controller for a tripod handle please? I’ve bought this camera but cannot find a zoom controller available on line. Thanks.
I use a Manfrotto MVR901ECLA zoom controller with my XF605. It works quite well.
Great overview thank you
No worries!
I heard there was a wide-angle as well as a telephoto adaptor. Would like to know more about them.
Yes wide angle (Canon WA-H58W) and telephoto (Canon TL-U58 Tele-Converter Lens)
Best way to film fireworks with this camera?
What does the XF605 lack compared to the XF705, please?

Does this camera do 60fps?
Hi! The XF605 can shoot 59.94fps in both Full HD and 4K 👍

For wildlife would you not want to slow down footage ? Uhd60

When will the app be available for android?
I read that it doesn't support LANC controllers. Is this true? If so, it seems like quite the overlook on a otherwise supurb professional camcorder.
WOW, IF that's true, that would be a MASSIVE FAIL...

What?
Very nice
This camera has better features than Canon c500 Mark II. lol
Maybe but image quality is not there and at the end o the day what's more important?
the camera lady seems angry ;)
She’s angry because she just bought a 705.
So my xf705 just came in. This sucks.
And I just bought the xf405
@@lestergehtdichgarnichtsan3382 the Xf 405 has an advantage: Its lighter and smaller and fits into a packpack easely
@@lestergehtdichgarnichtsan3382 I just bought 2 XF 405's

The lady camera operator doesn't look happy doing her job.
Is the video woke enough though?
Yes. If you are shooting a commercial in a dinghy you want to know if the camera is waterproof.
What does this even mean?
The camera is black so it's woke enough
it's 2021 we have the technology. Why is your audio so bad? I'd expect better from Canon.
