    Awesome tips to get the alignment right. Those latches and dowel aligners work really well!

    Love the latches and pins. Very nicely secured, and the latch adjustment will be handy if the wood blocks ever move at all with seasonal changes. Looking forward to the next video.

    I'm building my first real layout and I've been trying to figure out how to do a lift-out section. This looks so straightforward, I might change my track plan to add another one. Really nice technique!

    As heartbreaking as it is to see the remnants of the swing bridge laying on the floor in the background, it is great to see your solution. We got to see how to build both so those that want to do a swing bridge learned how to do that and those that like this idea got to see that. Best of both worlds thanks to you. It looks like they are high enough that in a pinch you could even use them as a duck under. What are the clearances of each one? One suggestion. Just to help avoid sagging or warping how about a strip of wood below each used like an L-girder to stiffen them. Still anxious to see an update on the roundhouse. Thank you for sharing and have a Merry Christmas and a safe and healthy happy new year.

    • @csxmad
      @csxmad  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Derek the height from the floor for each bridge is 50", 56", 60" so yes you could
      duck under but also good that you don't have too. And all will have a strip along
      the sides.And i hope you and your family have a great Christmas and a Safe New Year cheers Robert

    Hi Robert, late to the show, but enjoying the journey with you. I am still in planning but will definitely require a lift up/out/round section and your ideas are a great inspiration. I especially like the idea of the locating pins/dowels. What technique did you use for ensuring the alignment of the male and female parts? I am thinking of drill down from the top of the track bed/foundation into the supporting ledge, but I see that there is no hole on the top of your track bed/foundation. Would love to know your method. Thanks and regards, Andrew (Gold Coast, Qld)

    • @csxmad
      @csxmad  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Andrew from the Gold Coast thanks for your comment.
      The way i did the locating pins was I drilled the hole underneath the lift up about 10mm,
      Then i put the pin in, and with a slight tap on top of the board this marked where to drill
      the hole on the base, and bingo the pins went into the hole. But make sure the top board is
      straight and align before you tap the board. Hope this helps cheers Robert

    Very informative. Did you glue the pin and receiving end into the timber? If so, what glue and what was your method? Thanks.

    • @csxmad
      @csxmad  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No i didn't glue the pin, the pin was 8mm i used a 7.5mm drill bit and i punched the pin in the hole
      and this was a tight fit cheers Robert
