Nicely done Joe. As always, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. And your lift up bridges seem to work like they are designed to. Maybe a couple of yard tower type buildings can be placed over the locking mechanisms to hide them. They too will need to be removable. Lol. Take care. See ya next time.

Yes, It was on my mind when I fitted the surface hinges and those dreadful looking locks, but all part of the fun my friend :) Be safe :)

If the contacts are causing the lift-up to move away from the fixed section, consider changing the contact arrangement to pull the sections together. Try pins into holes or contact strips into slots.

Hi and thank you for your comment. I have since then improved the lift-up sections and securely lock into place first time every time :) Check out this video: th-cam.com/video/i1s-SWhPN8w/w-d-xo.html

Greetings Malta 🇲🇹 and hello Joe 👋 As always some very handy tips 😁 the copper clad / solder technique is one I will have to try as I have had problems with some of my track moving after cutting 😳 Excellent ideas 💡 and Kerrygold Butter too 🌞 Very best wishes from the Emerald Isle ☘️

      Thanks 👍
Hope you find it easy enough to do Paul. Once you sort out these track issues, model railways are so much more fun, instead of rerailing a derailed train.. sometimes can become a pain :)

I also have problems aligning track on a fold up section as well as a drop down one.
I've come across someone on TH-cam with 0 gauge who adjusted fishplates so they could slide over each end of the connecting tracks. Obviously a very difficult task with N gauge.
    Great videos.

Hmmm I can imagine that happening on my layout, but then I cannot see me doing that each and every time I need to walk through the section, and would most probably end up passing under it. So why have a lift up section in the first place, right? Yes, not too easy with n gauge :) Thank you for watching :)

bongo harrison guz.. square notches hhhhmmmmm fejn smajta lol.. those flimsy metal contacts could be an issue in time... idea.. cut notches in them and instead of resting against the screws they can sit over the screws and at the same time line up your track in position. then you can do away with those fasteners.

      Hmm a good idea :)
Remember the old kitchen cupboard door fasteners that slid into each other? I was going with those but the ones I found were too big to fit 3 widthwise!! Will give your idea a god. I also have another alignment idea in mind which will require some changes but then, what else have I got to do (besides come over and fix your point motor?) :)
