- March 12th, 2024 was a very special day for me. Never before had I seen such a vast arsenal of professional-grade instruments in one space. Think of this video as a trailer of sorts for some VERY cool reviews coming soon! I still, as ever, have a huge backlog of old stuff that needs to get flushed out, but I hope you'll pardon me mixing in some newer stuff to go along with it. I also wanted to get this video out quickly so that I could gauge feedback on this style of vlog. Maybe a little too drawn-out, but hopefully you'll enjoy nonetheless!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Please come say hello anytime you’re in town.
I’ve purchased two horns from you, and couldn’t be more pleased. Thank you so much!
@@thomasherrera6587 That's so awesome, thank you!
@@themightyquinnbrasswinds6786 You are very welcome thank you!
Thank you for your hospitality & generosity! I certainly plan to!
Keep it skibity sam
Isn’t skibbity an insult? I think I’m getting too old for this
Bro snuck in some Machu Picchu in there and thought I wouldn’t notice
On the contrary I’m glad you did because I forgot the name of the piece
@@SamuelPlaysBrass it’s no alligator alley but it’s a great piece
Great shop! I’ve purchased two trombones from them and have been very pleased.
Awesome, glad to hear that!
Was this previously 'Quinn the Eskimo' ?
Yes!
Be interested to see a video about your opinion on the horns you tried.
If you are near Seattle, you gotta go to Oberloh. It’s like a garage where a bomb of brass instrument parts and tools went off. That’s where people go to have full rotor rebuilds (replating). So they are trusted experts. They do repair though, not sales. I have not been to this other shop. I’ll try to check it out sometime.
Dan is a close friend of the shop! He's amazing.
Hi, sorry to bother you all. I want to know if you all are perhaps well known with the 'Santa Fe' musical instrument brand? Any thoughts on this? Let me know
Thanks in advance
I’ve never tried that brand, sorry.
Do you have track names for the background music?
I love Quinn's. Just got a Bach LT42BOFG from them, after selling my 88H last year. Takes so much more air, but the sound is excellent ... and similar to an 88H (nickel slide, maybe).
I try to always put background music titles/rights in the video description. LT42BOFG? That’s one heck of a model name. I still prefer the 88H over basically any Bach, but granted, I haven’t tried that particular model. I imagine the LT means lighter weight? That might be pretty cool! I tend to do better on light horns + heavy mouthpieces than vice versa.
@@SamuelPlaysBrass Ooof I didn't notice the description - my apologies, Sam! Yeah, it is a unique model name lol. LT is the lightweight nickel slide. It's the open wrap with the Meinlschmidt open flow valve, gold brass bell. My Conn88H was a gen I closed wrap with string linkage. I was thinking about getting another 88H, but open or a Bach42BOG, but Matt suggested it (I took a look, and, it had the specs I wanted), and it was done. Because I live in the southern US, I couldn't try it before, and I've read about Bach's QC issues ... but I seem to have struck gold with this one.
I'm still learning about mouthpieces, but I'll search your channel - you probably have a video about it I need to see. I was on a Conn5GR before, but sold it when I sold the Conn. The Bach came with a 6 1/2 AL, which I've been using, but I also acquired a Shires 5G that I might switch to someday.
@@ab-zg8pt sweet-nothing like a GOOD Bach! Those QC issues are rough so finding one that’s cream-of-the-crop is no small feat. I hope to try a lightweight slide like the LT model someday.
What exactly does “B stock” mean? Are the horns that didn’t make to cut to be sent to other shops? Or demos?
In our store, we refer to it as Open Box. They are instruments that cannot be sold as new because the instrument has been played or displayed. It may be new, or it may have an insignificant scratch or lacquer flaw. We receive these items directly from the manufacturer, and none have ever been previously owned. All are in perfect playing condition. When these instruments arrive at our shop, our meticulous techs go through them to make sure they're working perfectly, so you'll find them to be in superb condition
Machu pichu on the euphonium. I respect it
@@memecraft6764 I’ve loved that excerpt ever since we played that piece in wind ensemble!
Gotta love the "*phone obeys Newton's first law*"
Thwarted once more by old man Isaac…
Please bless me with a tuba
I don’t even have a tuba of my own, let alone one to give away.

Lingus was the song whistled
Yes sir!
Great vlog Samuel!👍👍
Thank you, Peter!
You're so welcome!🤗
If I wasn’t a spoiled bougie piece of work, I’d love a store like that too. When they start carrying Lotus mouthpieces I’ll definitely give them a visit and business. Closest store to me that “has” (they’re sold out nearly everywhere and almost never available for demo) Lotus mouthpieces, is like 5-6 hours away.
That being said, next time you’re in Texas, let me know, I’ll let you try the Lotus Solo Max. Absolute beast of a horn and a lot more subdued in a band than most people think. If a horn has a giant bell (5.7” on Solo Max) they think it’ll just cover everything, but it really doesn’t. But it also takes half the effort to do that should you need it. Either way, great vlog!
On the other hand, at least you already know the type of “bougie” stuff that works for you, which saves precious time on equipment safaris. Thank you for the offer! Sounds a lot like the AR Resonance Feroce with a bell bordering on 6” (albeit nickel silver) that a local lead player uses here. Both that and the Lotus line are on my bucket list to mess around with.
