very educative...thanks a lot for sharing... Can the circuit control more than two devices?...guess not due to the circuit only having two "synths engines"...
Incredible ! Would it be possible to assign many (4 or more) cv and gate outputs on the same midi channel to have polyphony ? That would be great because that thing is probably cheaper than all the expensive eurorack midi modules which barely have 4 cv and gate outputs... :)
Absolutely this thing is completely configurable and I've had the ARP working as a 3 voice paraphonic synth.... sequenced from Circuit which is pretty amazing. You can take a look at the configuring software at six4pix.com/cvocd/patch.asp there's tons of options..... It's bloody marvellous!!! You can sign up to Jason's 'tell me when it's ready' list here too. eepurl.com/b3Eh_P
can it work as triggers too for adsrs and drum modules? My sequencer would want one midi note = one trigger (one midi channel per trigger would eat too many tracks).
Yep pretty sure there can be 1 note = trigger on one channel. On the configuration software you can set the trigger to come from any specific channel and then choose the exact note by setting a min/max note number. It's a really versatile little box.
Hey Lars thats also one of Jasons 6 way MIDIHubs, it's very nice... I have that and his Bannana Split for MIDI Splitting duties. You can find both on his Tindie store link above.
well, let's say I'm controlling a microkorg from the circuit. all the editing that I do live on the microkorg will affect the notes sent from the circuit, right? what happens if I play an additional layer on the microkorg, is it possible to do without affecting what I already did on the circuit? (great video by the way, many thanks)
Hey Ali, it depends on a couple of things, that is if I understand your question right. If the MicroKorg sends out CC messages then it is likely that the parameter changes you make on the the Korg will also manipulate the parameters on Circuit, changing the sound (on that MIDI channel). The only way to stop this would be to stop the Korg's CC messages being sent. Unfortunately I don't know the MicroKorg at all so I can't help there. You can also turn off MIDI being received by Circuit on the MIDI set-up page (turn on holding the shift button) but I'm guessing you don't want to do this as it will stop the Korg keyboard playing Circuit's sounds. A work around could be to change the MicroKorg to MIDI channel 3 when you want to design the sound directly on the Korg. This will not affect the Circuit at all (as there is nothing connected on MIDI channel 3) but the downside is that Circuit cannot sequence or play the Korg in this state. When you do want to sequence the Korg you can switch back to MIDI channel 1 or 2 to connect to Circuit synth 1 or 2. Using MIDI channel 3 would also be a way to keep the Korg separate for playing extra musical lines over the 2 Circuit internal sequencers too. Not sure if that fully explains it but hopefully there is something here to help you out. Thanks for the comment CALC
Calc! Thanks a lot, you explained it well! "A work around could be to change the MicroKorg to MIDI channel 3 when you want to design the sound directly on the Korg. That's what I wanted to check for, I'm about to order the circuit, it's good to know that I can switch between MIDI channels, especially during a jam! so that I can play extra music line with the microkorg over the 2 circuit sequencers.. keep up with your great jams.. a./
Thanks Brian, Using Circuit there are 3 outputing MIDI channels, they are fixed at channel 1 and 2 (synth 1 and 2) and channel 10 for each of the drums. The CV. OCD is perfect for this as out of the box it's configured with Circuit in mind. Channels 1+2 on CV and gate combos then the ch10 drums are set to trigger outputs. It's totally configurable too so really is a powerful MIDI to CV converter
Digital and analog is a marriage made in electronic paradise....great demo.
Oh wow! This is going to be essential and if the quality is 1/2 as good as the Arpie or Midi Splitter - a real winner!
sounds very nice indeed.

exiting!

Honestly I wasn't expecting that much from it... Thanks for the informations ;)
cool mate
Can the Circuit send Program changes to external synths over midi. For instance, can it change the presets on an external synth?

Great stuff Calc! Does it mean I can sequence my Pocket Operators via Circuit with this little add-on too?
whats the name of the round midi (sync) hub??

Swipe right for Hotchki55 CV.OCD

Hello, just checked the link and cv.ocd not listed, still in development?
Sharon Robert Hey Sharon Robert, I think it's nearly ready but you can sign up and be notified when it is actually available here eepurl.com/b3Eh_P
Thank you very much , just signed up.
Great video BTW.
Hi there Calc. Great thorough videos!! How many channels of midi can I run at the same time, using circuit's sequencer?
