    My biggest concern with shitty VRMs:
    Longevity.
    E-Waste is an increasing problem we HAVE to address. The first step is to simply make things last as long as possible so they can be used for years and than passed on to somebody else on the used market.
    I consider shitty "make it as cheap as possible" GPUs a waste of ressources.

    G'day Buildzoid,
    it is interesting Zotac has the best VRM out of these you looked at today, they seem to me to follow the same practice as ASRock, they both tend to do a Good job on the Expensive Models & a Terrible Job on the Budget Models, but
    We still have some RTX3060s available in shops here in Australia, although variety has gone down to only a couple of models from the 7 available yesterday, plus our prices are $749AUD & up,
    which considering we are at $1.29AUD to $1USD that is the worst pricing mark up I have seen in a long time, even GTX1650 is $329 which is $100AUD more than last year

  • @Lemard77
    @Lemard77 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    The 3060 is rather disappointing, Nvidia made the GA106 too small only marginally improved over TU106 in regards to SM count, memory bandwith, etc. In the end we got a 20% performance increase compared to the previous gen product 2 years ago. Essentially 2060 Super / 2070 performance, for 350 usd (without even taking scalping into account) not good enough.

      Since turing was such a disastrous performance increase, having the 3070 be as slow as it is and the 3080 forced to go onto 102 just to get it in acceptable performance should have been enough of a warning but this 3060 is really disappointing. Nvidia seems to be either sandbagging or falling behind the curve. They're letting amd catch up and I dunno if that's a smart move.

      @asdrubale bisanzio that is a false narrative nvidia would normally put those "defective" but functional dies into lower binned gaming cards nvidia used to have a high bin numbering for many cards for over clocking and a lower binned one for non oc models. aka I can tell everyone i have this non functional car it can turn on drive stop and do everything another car can but it will use 25% more gas to do so. This is all marketing to make everyone not freakout as bad when they take gpu stock from the market to increase stock prices and sell more expensive mining gpus. However there is a rumor they are using 2000 series silicon for the lower end models of mining card

    • @RadarLeon
      @RadarLeon 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @asdrubale bisanzio I'm fully aware the 2060 ko is 2080 dies that have been fused off but apparently not completely in so that it has 2060 proformance in games but is more similar to 2070 proformance in applications like blender if those cards had more powerful vrms and other components they could out proform many 2060s because they were technically 2080s many 2070s were made from silicon destined to be 2080s but either have failed some test or had faulty cus TU104-150-KC-A1,TU104-400-A1,TU104-410-A1, TU104-400A-A1 those are all based on the TU104 these dies may all come from the same wafer, but have met different standards the 400 and 400a are litterally binned dies for 2080s the 410s are for 2070s and the 150s are often used in 2060s, again tu104-410 and 150s in the mindset you said would become mining compute cards as the full die is meant for 2080s we'd not have 2070 supers or 2060 kos, now in dealing with the current generation the standard 3060 only uses a 192 bit memory bus 3070s have a 256 cards that have a partially faulty memory controller but pass otherwise could be re binned[assigned a new serial number] and reissued at cheaper cost for vendors and made into budget cards that are fully functional like they always have been.

      Doing the "pre-built gamble" I got a PNY brand XLR8 3080 last week in a Skytech "Blaze 3.0". Like a lot of them they just say you will get "a 3080" but not which specific one.
      It doesn't show up high on any lists. It says factory boost is just 1750MHz. Without tweaking it, Afterburner said it maxed at 2055 though. That's a little better than most of the other "better" cards. I'm just going to leave it as is.
      I haven't tapped on it to see what's made of. Don't plan on pushing it. I just want it to do it's job. Super fast 3D renders and lots o' fpses "out of the box".

    Say what you will about zotac and their quality in recent generations.. but they're absolutely killing it this gen..
    Why?
    Because I CAN ACTUALLY BUY THEM CONSISTENTLY from their broken ass hacked together website

    12gb is only good in 4k which this card isnt even made for:)

    • @jariseppala9719
      @jariseppala9719 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are extrawide monitors that are 1440p, but because they are so wide, they have almost same amount of pixels as a normal 4K monitor. That is why 12 gigs of VRAM is better than 6 gigs. So it is not just marketing.

    Why can't you put a 3060 chip in a 3070 board? Then you could get the 8 GB! Not crazy 12 GB.

    If you don't mind, would you please add colour to pointer? Or something unique, is quite hard to follow through, white things over white things. Thank you very much! Great content!
