    My mind is blown! I've been looking at van conversions for months (all during covid19, blah!) and I've not seen something so beautiful for a while! I love it! It's new and innovative with the bed space at the back and the scrolling. It's making me re-think things. I love the wood and white. Love the drawers.

    You have made a beautiful, homely yet practical little house. The curved edges of the kitchen side cupboard and box bed makes it feel like a house, rather than a car to live in. I love that you added the indentations for the fence and bed slats to keep them in place. Stacking the bench, storage, bed and more storage makes it appear spacious whilst keeping handy space for storage. I love it

      Leila L thanks for the comment!There’s a porta potti toilet tucked away under the bench seat, if it of interest can see some pictures on our website (link in description). We needed to keep the double bench seat in the front of this van so built in the hatch above the kitchen to allow emergency access into the cab if needed 👍 Thanks for watching 💚

    I was looking at formaldehyde free ply but the quote has come back quite expensive, I only want shiplap om my ceiling

    • @nagualdesign
      @nagualdesign 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're absolutely right to avoid standard ply that contains formaldehyde and other toxic chemicals. Sleeping inside a small, heated, ply-lined box will definitely affect your health. And painting the plywood can make things even worse. When people started lining vans with plywood it was to stop their tools denting the walls.
      I've gone off the idea of ply lining completely. Where there's no need for hard surfaces (ie, ~90% of the walls and ceiling) it would be simpler, cheaper and more lightweight to use vinyl-wrapped foam glued to the walls. A bit like a padded cell 😊 but the vinyl could be any colour or pattern. Leatherette, for instance. It's also fire retardant, and if you bang your head on the ceiling it won't scalp you.
      Same goes for the floor. You don't need to put a layer of insulation, then a layer or ply, then a layer of flooring. Simply lay the flooring directly on top of rigid foam insulation. And if you use industrial vinyl flooring (5~6mm thick) it's lightweight, warm, soft enough to kneel on and completely weather proof. You could even spill oil on it and it would clean up nicely.
      Making a van 'homely' shouldn't be confused with making a van house-like. It just needs to be warm, comfortable, look nice and ideally be lightweight and not cost the Earth, both financially and in resources.

      I forgot to mention that it's also sound absorbing, so you can watch a movie at night, listen to music or indulge in marital arts without anyone outside hearing a peep. Although it won't stop the van from rocking. 😉

    How did you stick the wall panels up , cant see screw holes is it ply ?

    • @wildvanconversions
      @wildvanconversions  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes we used ply for the walls - held on with a combination of discreetly hidden screws behind furniture and in some places nailed on to wooden battens that we'd glued to the metalwork. We then filled the holes and sanded everything back before applying acrylic primer and several coats of paint. Quite a long process but we think it's worth it for the seamless finish!

    It's a very pretty van but having things like a heavy ceramic sink is just silly. Everything should be as lightweight as possible.
