Speaking from experience with concussions, you feel like you’re hearing stories for the first time because you either don’t remember them at all or it’s very fuzzy. It can be sad or scary if you dwell on it or you can just enjoy reliving it through other people’s eyes. I can’t speak for Dale Jr. or anyone else but that’s the way it is for me.
It is hard to believe he only has 209k subscribers on here. These interviews and stories are priceless. Im 31 and remember the later 24 and 3 days and being a 24 fan, but this stuff is gold! no matter who you cheered for.
I'm just saying, he was voted most popular for how many years? Just odd only 209k subscribe to this. Im not much of a podcast guy, Im old school and still just listen to the local FM radios.
Is there a man who's lived a more amazing yet tragic life? Then to come out still humble and kind. This mans life has been a movie and he's squeezed every but of life out of life. Hopefully they find ways to stop or repair the damage of cte because he's an American treasure.
Oh my God to be his PR man, I could listen to the stories for hours. This is one of the best podcasts you have had. And you’ve had some damn good ones. Awesome job Mike
Keep em coming Dale. Your dad might of been a tough one. But he'd be damn proud of who you've become in life. That toughness was to put you where you are today. He didn't want you to be a nobody in life.
I really enjoy the Shows, Dale. It's great to laugh at 0800am! The stories are amazing! Thanks for Lost Speedways too. Very informative, particularly the track with.the underground Moonshine Still!

I enjoy all y’all’s shows that you do, God has brought so many great friends in your life to help you along the way. Thanks for Blessing one of your best friends with a boat…. Loved seeing Mike sharing that experience, so very cool guys. Thanks for sharing 🙏
I don't understand how there are so few views and comments on this one! The whole boxing match segment in this one is Gold!!! I absolutely love listening and watching these videos!

Dale I really enjoy listing to your podcast. The stories and the great people you have on the show just makes it so enjoyable to listen to. My wife and I were big fans of yours and also of your Dads' . Thanks for the times I can just relax and enjoy some stories.
This book had me laughing my ass off as a 10 year old. It influenced me for better and for worse but mostly better. It changed my perspective on the world and for that I'm grateful 🙏
It is so surreal hearing these stories again. It's almost nostalgic, I have listened to daddy, Slugger, and Steve for years, to hear your (Jr) perspective is so cool.
This proves the human brain is resilient and we have no clue how resilient yet how fragile., the human brain can be . Big ups for all the concussion protocols that are being put in all sports ✅✅👏👏
Awesome segment but I have to admit around 12:08 I had to think of Talladega Nights!!LOL " I'm on fire!" when the nurse tells you that it isn't that bad! LOL
19:34 "He walked to me....what do you think I am going to do." Sounds like a conversation Dale Sr. would have with Mike Helton in the NASCAR Hauler after a race.
I remember looking at that wreck and it looked like Junior's arms and shoulders were being lifted up, like someone was lifting him out of the car. I believe his daddy was there.
Yeah it's always fun watching Jr enjoying hearing the stories his guests are telling and inparticularly the stories about some of the off track things he would do or be involved in that had nothing to do with racing
I'm someone that's had numerous head injuries over the years, countless concussions, plus a very serious traumatic brain injury at only 3 years old in which I was in the hospital for a few weeks. I was a wild reckless child constantly hurting myself. Next was sports and I was even more reckless and back then concussions were still down played. Eventually I ended up going into the Marine Corps where at one point I ended up the 1st one hit in a 7 car pile up. Not sure if it was the first impact or one of many after but I was knocked out. On top of that I ended up with neck and back injuries that years later ended my military career as I was forced out. Now I'm in the process of ensuring that my brain goes to science for research and to confirm CTE. I'm 43 now and definitely showing many signs and symptoms of CTE and have been for many years. I didn't even know what CTE was until around ten years ago and already had symptoms long before then. Forgetting is hard on you mentally. At times a friend can be telling a story that I don't remember at all. Other times something or someone can trigger a memory. It's definitely a struggle and can take it's toll on you. I'm so glad that head injuries are finally being focused on more and more. Even though it's probably too late for me it's not too late for the next generation and kids growing up now and in the future.
When I seen the car on fire, watching it live, the way Jr came out of the car, it looked like he was pulled out not that he got out. I said right then to my wife that Sr pulled him out.
I was dating a chick when I was living in Mooresville, she worked it Sam Goodie, I saw Jr’s big red Chevy truck outside, I went in to see my girl and he was at the register, she didn’t give a damn about Jr but I just stood there marveling over Jr lol he just grinned and said hey lol. After he left I was yelling Jr Jr Jr lol
I'm not one to normally spout off a bunch of BS about ghosts, spirits and angels, but I swear to God himself if you watch Dale get out of that Corvette at Sonoma, it looks like someone is carrying him under his armpits out of that race car. I'm not saying his father WAS there, but when you see the way he comes up out of that car, you'd swear he's not bullshitting.
As a night club DJ for all of those Bud 8 years from ATL to Sarasota, I can proudly say those Dale Jr cardboard cutouts witnessed all of the beautiful mistakes 👀🏁🏴☠️
Every bar, watering hole that sold Budweiser products especially in the south was a walk in shrine of Bud 8 Dale Jr everything. I bet there hasn’t been a bigger marketing per dollar products, sponsorship like that since. I’m pretty sure there was even Xmas lights with that car and the 8 on them. Hundreds of products for the bars to display and some never came down only up
Boy do I remember that wreck at Sonoma because I have a shop there and I happen to know the corner worker that help get Jr out of the car that day and I give her a bunch of credit for stepping up without any fire protection on to help him out of the car! I could not believe that had happened. Not to mention that Borris use to drive the Trans-Am car I worked on at Tom Gloy racing so I knew Borris back then.
It's become easier & easier to understand why Junior came to a point where he sustained a concussion everytime someone bumped into him in a hallway, it's painfully obvious that Dale's way of stopping flying objects, was to stick his head in front of it! 🥊💥🤕 LOL! Just kidd'in Jr 😉 Keep umm coming DJD, Your show is the best thing going on TV or the Internet 💪🤠
And by the way I'll introduce myself as I usually do, this is Jeff Yoder the ol'broke down scooter tramp, exbiker, Vietnam 🇻🇳 Era veteran, who has been a big time Jr fan since he was part of the rookie class when he he got his first Cup series ride with DEI as a team mate with Michael Waltrip and Steve Park
Which was before the race the race that Sr told both Michael and Jr both how Jr was going to win the race if Jr and Michael did what he told them to do which was the reason Michael later said was why he called Sr a race whisperer
Dale when your dad passed It looked like to me and alot of people that your dad was protecting you, and Michael Waltrip, he was cutting other drivers off it seemed to protect his son and his friend, after that well he passed. Dale they say that when you pass away the moment it happens your transported and you have a review of your life and the things you have done and not done, your dad wasn't a easy man to understand, but I feel that he saved you, he wouldn't let you down, or let you feel alone, and lastly saves you from the fire to let you know he loved you and you are important to him and that he is and will always be proud of you. Neither of you got to say good bye but those parts you don't remember could be the parts you got to tell him goodbye.
Crazy that Jr's story about catching fire has so many similarities to Grosjean's. Both where conscious and aware of what happened but it took them a bit to process that they were on fire and had to move.

@@hibiki9380 thanks man, it was my pinky too but my ring finger was weakend with it especially after getting out of the cast ... being in a cast for 3 months my entire hand was stiff so that is what the therapy was mainly for .. we were trying hard to get the pinky moving but it just never would ... i can still move the proximal phalange which is nice and the whole finger has a downward curl to it... the middle joint is just straight and fused but the distal phalange is stuck curled downward... i can straighten it by pressing another object and then push it down which is strange ... but thats due to the ligament damage. im a guitar/bassist so it was pretty traumatic when it first happened to me. thankfully its my strumming hand. which effects bass i cant to super advanced plucking techniques like 4 finger plucking (i can but it hurts like heck) ... i can however still play piano and as you can obviously tell type on a keyboard. because the finger is shaped perfectly for such. so all in all it sucked going through that but its not a big deal ... i feel so much though for people who lose their fingers or more and also people that get paralyzed fingers ... especially people with authorities so badly that their fingers are stuck straight ...
I think my favorite part about all of this, is watching Junior’s face light up hearing all these stories, like he didn’t even live through them.
I'm with you, but it's also a little sad as you can see some of the damage done from so many concussions.
