How valuable was this advice. My first coach recommended the book, The Art of War. This advice is a snippet of the book. Very valuable advice. Thanks for sharing!
It’s so weird how such a small percentage are left handed, me and my little brother are left handed so it’s nice to practice with him to better understanding for whenever I come across a lefty.
I'm left handed too, but the last time I played a lefty-lefty match was sometime around 10 years ago. Among my close relatives and neighbors I'm the only one who is left handed and I always get them confused when playing
i remember the first time i batted against a good left handed pitcher, throwing high 80's fastballs and 65mph curveballs. I felt like the ball was going to hit me every time, it was so uncomfortable seeing the ball come in from the same side. guess most people get used to it, since right vs right is much more common. I've yet to play against another left handed table tennis player but would love to try
To correct a misconception, left handed players don't possess any tactical advantages because there is still symmetry between the players. Every tactical situation where a left handed player capitalizes on the situation and wins a point is theoretically possible for right handed players to accomplish vs lefties. Aggressive crosscourt backhands, service receiving, position in relation to the table, backhand flicks on the forehand side, wide-angle forehand attacks (commonly called the "inside out forehand") can all be performed by right handed players against left handed players (for example, Liam Pitchford used many of these tactics to beat Xu Xin). For this reason, "unfair familiarity" (which is inarguably not "unfair", and a better word would be "unequal" or perhaps "asymmetrical") is the only advantage that left handed players possess over right handed players. However, it's interesting to note that lefty's often share the unfamiliarity of playing against left handed players, but in these cases, the unfamiliarity is mutually held by both opponents (both of them are equally 'out of water' in theory). I don't think you would disagree with me, but some of the language in the video is rash in it's description of the advantage left handed players have. At points in the introduction, it seems you are suggesting (I don't know if this was your intention though) that right handed players would possess an advantage if they made the switch to being left handed. But science doesn't currently support the idea that changing handedness is possible, especially at ages where you are capable of playing table tennis, and this would nullify relative matchup familiarity Also much of the footage you use is of left handed vs left handed players (the first half of the video), which is tactically identical (in everyway except the names of the body relative directions: right and left) to righty vs righty.
I agree completely just ignore this man he simply doesn't understand tactics he thinks some placements are tactics if you read articles from Realtime coaches you'll understand the advantages and disadvantages like in online forums and official releases also there's online coaches like the korean Nuri and the Chinese Coach Lin
Lefties certainly have an advantage against penholders. There has been quite a number of lefties World Champions like Gatien,Bengsston and Kohno. It's just only the Chinese who can't produce a lefty world champion probably because they used to have weak backhands and most of their lefties end up as doubles specialists.Timo Boll without his left handedness wouldn't be a much better player than Crisan. Waldner was particularly strong against lefties because his main sparring partners were Lindh and Appelgren, other players like Saive didn't have a single lefty in their team.
As a lefty leaning into forhand attack, it's also very useful to be paired in doubles with a right handed teammember. You can attack the serve with your forhand immediately and will leave enough space for your partner behind the table for an return.
I am not even kidding, after watching the video I won a game from my brother who was beating my ass for a long time. The backhand tip made it for me. Now to master it as best as possible! Ty so much for the valuable advice.
I noticed that you used the word 'profit' in this context, but 'take advantage of' might be a better fit for what you're trying to convey. So you can say "You can take advantage of being a lefty."
Hey. I'm lefty player. My main , lets says issue , but not difficulty , is that for some reason i usually trying to attack more often from my right side with FH to diagonal , so right for opponent. I think it is because i understand that such spin is more difficult. But for most cases it is easier to do a shot on righty's left side, since usually they have weak BH.
Im left handed but I am more comfortable with backhand shots. With backhand shots its easier to disguise the shot or put a spin on it. It may just be me.
A lefty im mu club plays with his right hand. And im training my left arm from scratch cause i have better knowledge now so i think i be better with traing up my left arm. Must admit i could maybe take too much time
Tay trái gặp tay trái thì em lại khó đánh vì ít gặp. Vậy chiến thuật cần đưa ra là gì ạ? cảm ơn ad English if you aren't vietnamese as i though haha : When i meet the opponent is lefty too. What should i do because i rarely meet the left-handed player ?
I love to play with lefty I mean almost everything new and I learn something that I cannot do on a right handed opponent. I have a teammate before we might at the intrams quarter finals and good thing I won that's maybe because both of us has no practice that time HAHAHA all is in luck
I'm no professional player but table tennis is a very mental game. Serving is the only play with more time to consider many things before taking an action. I try to read the opponent and calculate what the he is least ready for. There is a lost of mental cat and mouse game before the start of another rally. You can see professional players in deep thoughts before their serves. The last glance can be the deciding factor of the tactics and it can also be intimidating.
Left handed players don’t have a true advantage, I’ll have to disagree with you. How many World and Olympic champions are lefty? I can name only two in the last 36 years: Yoo Nam Kyu and Jean Phillipe Gatien. There are less people playing with the left hand, that’s probably true, but world class right handed players seems to deal quite well with that. And strategically, right hand against left hand should work equally for both sides.
Muito bom parabéns, jogo com duas mão, destro e ganhoto, sou melhor no destro pois sou destro, mais venho treinando bastante com a mão ganhota pois já percebi mais vantagem em jogar contra jogadores destro....

I'm a lefty when i used to play against another lefty i was in more trouble because i was used to right handed players.

@@renato3029 i bet lmao the spin rlly does feel different than right handed people but I play table tennis so I’m not too sure about tennis.

Lin Gaoyuan is also a left-handed player!
Wang Chuqin is also lefty
Coach, can you answer this question: is or has there ever been a lefty chopper who specialize in the defensive game and who has an ITTF ranking?
th-cam.com/video/TiRiQCr7YtQ/w-d-xo.html
Coach, please describe basic playing tactics against left-handed players.
Ding Ning is a lefty
I am not even kidding, after watching the video I won a game from my brother who was beating my ass for a long time. The backhand tip made it for me. Now to master it as best as possible! Ty so much for the valuable advice.
Great video mate 👍🏻

yes. exactly. thank you very much
Sir can you please post a video for the modern tactics for a right handed player and the best serves for a right handed player.
Thank you
Shang Kun is also lefty!
fantastic content in this video

I am a big fan of your channel
Zhou Mr. is Attractive actor and player. Very stylist.
Otto Tennila is a lefty!
I'm a lefty and my biggest issue is playing on my forehand. How can I fix that??
It’s just a matter of training my friend. Practice forehand topspin, forehand blocks and forehand pushes and your forehand will improve really fast ;)
Right hand players sometime forget to aim the ball to the opponent weak backhand but the left hand suddenly smash / spin with their strong forehand.
Right hand players are more used to playing against right hand players whereas left hand players are more used to playing against right hand players.
Im also lefty thank you
Tay trái gặp tay trái thì em lại khó đánh vì ít gặp. Vậy chiến thuật cần đưa ra là gì ạ? cảm ơn ad
English if you aren't vietnamese as i though haha : When i meet the opponent is lefty too. What should i do because i rarely meet the left-handed player ?
I don't have any problems with lefty, sometimes I feel it's even better vs them. But I'm defender, maybe this is the reason..
he doesn't understand tactics this video is just for content farming
Zhou yu and lgy my favorite leftied
My biggest problem with lefty players is seeing the hitting point on hook serve
I love to play with lefty I mean almost everything new and I learn something that I cannot do on a right handed opponent. I have a teammate before we might at the intrams quarter finals and good thing I won that's maybe because both of us has no practice that time HAHAHA all is in luck
It would be nice I video about pen holder tactics.
Also, a lefties greatest weakness is playing another left. All that you mentioned also apply to the lefty playing a lefty
Why do professional players have a look at the opponent before serving?
to make sure your opponent is ready before the rally starts
I'm no professional player but table tennis is a very mental game. Serving is the only play with more time to consider many things before taking an action. I can't agree with the tactical advantages. A right-handed player would have the same advantages when playing against a lefty.
Awesome...
i cant calculate the curve so make more mistakes
Timo boll is also left handed!
My problem against lefty is my wide forehand getting exposed 😴😴
Left handed players don’t have a true advantage, I’ll have to disagree with you.

My main problem against a leftie is the serve is always hidden behind his body, so I cannot read it.
I am lefty
I’m ambidextrous what do I do
An art to play? Ping pong and some extra brain workout.
I'm left hand!
Muito bom parabéns, jogo com duas mão, destro e ganhoto, sou melhor no destro pois sou destro, mais venho treinando bastante com a mão ganhota pois já percebi mais vantagem em jogar contra jogadores destro....
I am left handed player
🌎🇪🇨🙂👍
Nothing special for me in this video, I'm lefty
Что за бред? Половина видео играют 2 левши друг с другом! И это не соответствует тому, что говорится!
