- I'm going to show you how to play music through your mic using voicemeeter! I'll be using voicemeeter banana or potato as our interface for our microphone/headphones, and you'll be able to hear the audio from both your mic and whatever program is playing your music!

Your video was by far the best I've come across (and I watched many). I still had to tweak it a bit (although I'm pretty dumb with this audio stuff) for specific games but I couldn't have figured it out without this!

This works great. I’ve noticed the sound quality isn’t that great from what others can hear on discord. But it does work. Great explanation. There’s more in discord settings someone could do to help the sound come through better like turning off the sound gates and such.

Also , when I was looking on the internet trying to find out how to use this program in general it was pretty difficult because I got good bits of information from like 20 different people and put it all together

With you need to setup vm like I explained and then do what I said in the second part of that other comment, also what ever we browser you're using make sure the audio device it's set for is the default audio device not voicemeeter since voicemeeter is setup as the default on your pc

This tutorial explains it vary well compared to many others that I have seen and its the only one that does not involve VB-Audio Cable which is broken on Voicemeeter as I continue to get driver errors after re-installing them. This is also one of the few videos using Voicemeeter Potato as many others use basic or Banana.

I was finding the same issue when I was learning how to use voicemeeter I had to watch a lot of videos to get the full understanding of what I wanted to do and people would leave stuff out, so I made this video and tried not to leave stuff out. I guess I didn't need vb audio cable at the time for my setup which is why I didn't add it but I have used it as an audio repeater in the past.
g'day it'd be amazing for a tutorial on win11 as there's almost none, and for me most sounds and things aren't the same name, like "Hardware input" and "stereo input", aswell as a proper way to install it, and how to move a certain app like youtube/spotify to vaio3, which isn't under "app volume and device preferences" in windows 10, but in "volume mixer" and you need to click it to see the input/output device

Hey! It happens to me that when I assign voicemeter by default for the audio I listen to, I can no longer manage the general volume of the PC from Windows (nor from the keyboard on which I have a wheel to manage it), how do I solve it? really well explained video, thanks!
Sorry when you set this up you make voicemeeter your sound manager instead of windows so you control volume with it and what not. I'm not sure how your wheel is setup either, I have a go xlr mini setup through and I use that to adjust volume and what not but it's routed a little bit differently
i kinda did a workarround setting A1 output in the "shortcut key (hook)". Maybe just for now but works i think :) @@shakultra

Beautifully explained, BUT I have a question, how do I make it so I can hear it, they can hear it but they only hear spotify and not the rest of my desktop audio (discord and other stuff) and is it possible to hotkey this? Question for anyone reading: Do you know how to stream ONLY music and not other sounds? E.g. I'd like to stream music to other players in a multiplayer game, but the way this is set up it's streaming ALL audio sounds. I.e., so the music is being sent to the mic channel but also all the sounds the game itself makes. Any way to isolate just (e.g.) Winamp to stream to the mic channel?
Note I'm using VoiceMeter Banana not Potato. It looks like maybe if I upgrade I can vary volume for individual audio sources (a feature Banana doesn't seam to have). Can anyone confirm?

Can someone help me? I tried this tutorial, and it worked for me, but my desktop audio stutters while my mic audio is perfectly fine when I play music through this virtual B1 cable. AIMP player, TH-cam in browser, videos from my desktop... They all stutter. Some of them didn't tho, I have no idea how it works. Is this a Discord issue or smth? I even tried those audiodg.exe fixes as well, it's all the same. Disabling noise suppression from Krisp did nothing either. I'm desperate
Try restarting your pc, if that doesent work try using wdm or the other option, or try using less hz in the vm settings
Let me ask you something. Under your “desktop audio” how did you connect your Spotify to that & have it show up?
After you setup your desktop audio defaults and restart voicemeter it'll just show up right there because that's where all the audio playing on your pc will output to.

How do I set it up to where I can play music thru my mic but not have it come through discord, I only want it to come out through game chat
Since you are playing music through the same voice channel as your mic all you have to do is go into game chat and play the music. Just mute yourself in discord. Or setup another channel like b2 and use that as your default in game mic and play music through that one only. It's way easier to just not be in discord or mute ur mic.
if you turn on noise suppression to krisp and echo cancelation it should solve the problem.. worked for me

I don’t have Voicemeeter Output device in recording at all What else could I use or how do I even get it in my recording options to set it as default device
They updated their program so things look different now all the settings are still there they're just named something different, I haven't gone through yet and looked at which one correlates to which but when I do a video will be out for it

My computer doesn’t show Voicemeeter output in the recording part of the sound settings. It Shows Voicemeeter Out A1 - A5 and Voicemeeter Out B1 - B3.
I need to make an update video but those inputs and outputs, some correspond to the ones I showed but you have to do trial and error to figure it out I'm not sure which they are since the voicemeeter creators made the update

Restart your pc, but they changed the options in their new update so you'd have to figure out which outputs correlate with the old ones

Voicemeeter updated the program so now it looks different in the settings so everything that I showed is correct but you have to find which one correlates to which one I was talking about and I haven't done that quite yet but once I do then I'll make a video

Hey the audio sounds great but if i send it to like an audio recording website or hear the music through disord mic test, the audio quality is reduced
How are you recoding the audio? Also in discord check what mic is being used because it may be the wrong one
In discord my Input Device is VoiceMeeter Output the (Normal one) and output is default. I tried multiple websites where u just allow it to have access to your mic and record. (used same thing).
Oh and how do i send my music (vaoi 3) to vb cable which is in hardware input 2?

Hey Great video man, but i have a problem with output. The VoiceMeeter Output in my settings isnt there there is only outputs of b1, b2 and b3 and if i pick any of these it will not work

Which means, they can hear what I hear on my end, right? Is there any way for instance we're in a call and I play music (like singing karaoke) and they can't hear their voice in the background if they talk BUT can hear the music and my mic clearly? 🤔

In said page there is no playback tabs or anything, only audio input and output, is this step necessary? Im not a streamer i just want to play music through my mic. Thank you!

There's a setting in menu called Shortcut Key (HOOK). Here you can choose for your volume keys to be bound to A1 or A2 collectively, allowing for simultaneous control.

There is no "Voicemeeter Output" in the sound settings its only Out A1 to A5 and Out B1 to B3. Is there a solution so it will still work?

Hi, I noticed that my friend can hear his voice through my mic when I turn on the B1 thingy. Is there a way I can stream music and not pick up discord audio? I remember you mentioned something about AUX input and communication but I followed the instructions on the video but my friend can still hear his voice twice...

What do i do when in the recording tab i dont have "VoiceMeeter Output" 1:30

Iin my next video I need to address this but long story short is that in the windows sound settings even though you have those different options now because voicemeeter updated, those options correspond to the options I chose but you have to use trial and error to figure which matches which. In my next video I'll just show you which ones to use but I haven't did the trial and error part yet so I don't know for sure
Can't find the voicemeeter output device on the Recording tab in the Soumd Settings. Just Voicemeeter Out from A1 to A5 and B1 to B3
Try restarting your pc

HOW do i make it so that they can hear the music and my mic but not echo the gameplay sound as i play ? becuase if i mute or turn the game down then i cant hear in the game but if i leave it on it echos and people can hear the music and my game audio.

How would you add something like Voicemod?
I'm not sure how voice mod works but most likely you would just set up voice meter as your default device and then you would get voice mod and just set up voice mod to use your default device which would be voicemeeter not like your regular microphone

I've never used touch poral but if you are using a sound board for it then you can add it to a different channel and then play it through you mic like this

They updated voicemeeter and changed a lot like it looks different but the same concepts are there I have to update mine and make a new video

What I was wondering, is, that discord doesn’t seem to play the sounds well to others and I think it has to do with Krisp, but I could be wrong.

This didn’t work. I have way more inputs and outputs than you. I didn’t have an aux option in sound settings either
They updated voicemeeter and they changed what stuff is called but if you just try each input and output then you'll see they are just named something different.
I'll have to do this when I remake this tutorial.

Im trying to set up my voice meeter to play music through my mic but i only have a minimized version of it, missing the rest of those input/output tabs. all i have is Stereo input 1, Stereo input 2, Virtual input and hardware out. and for some reason the hardware out tab doesnt recognize my headset as a headset, it recognizes my monitor as my headset.
Since you are using the regular version of voicemeeter you can put your mic in Hardware input 1, put your headphones in Hardware out A1( if it's not showing up restart your computer and it should show up) then you can move spotify into your virtual input so you can control it separately it will be called something different than vio3 in my video but if you click around and try a few things you''ll get it.

I haven't used bandlab but yes it should work if in bandlab you choose your default microphone after everything is set up

I couldn't really follow the tutorial after a certain point because my voice meter potato doesn't have nearly as many options. noo desktop or chat stuff and less inputs ect
If you have voicemeeter banana it works the same way, you have your mic input your headphone output and it has 2 virtual channels instead of 3. Also the desktop audio and chat stuff channels I just renamed em you have those just click on the text and you can change it to whatever you want

After downloading Voicemeeter Potato, I received all audio drivers except for two. I'm missing an AUX Output device and a Voicemeeter Output device, but I have those devices for the Input side. How can I get these two output drivers? I'm stuck trying to get those; I've been reinstalling and installing Voicemeeter Potato multiple times and still get the same issue when uninstalling everything related to Voicemeeter.
After you install it, restart your pc and other sound options in windows sound should be there
@@shakultra Yeah, I reinstalled it and rebooted my system, but I still don't have them. I have the ones that say Voicemeeter Out A1 from Voicemeeter Out B2, but I don't have AUX or Voicemeeter Output for my recording side. The thing is, I did have Voicemeeter Banana, and everything was working fine until I wanted to switch over to the Potato version.
Im not sure why you aren't getting the other options in your recording tab
Maybe install hibit Uninstaller then uninstall vm then install vm using installation monitoring then uninstall it, then install it again to see if it changes. But that's a long shot

Can't set sample rate 44100" issue fix Open voicemeeter click menu, system settings, and on the right side of that window you will see " Preferred SampleRate:" click the box to the right of it and set it at 44100 and the issue will be fixed

when i open the "recording" tabn on the sound thing there is 7 voice meter outs all named different

The makers updated their program, youd have to figure out which ones correlate I will make a new video on how you do it with the new setup because I havent even looked at it yet because f work

Try downloading 7zip, install it, extract that file then install it

You could click the menu button in voicemeeter and click restart. Or on minihost you could turn the bitrate to 2k instead of 4k.
