I don't know what he's playing, but it certainly isn't Procol Harum's signature song. It was more of a free-form noodling session, kicked off with a (sort of) reference to Pachelbel's Canon in D?
But, he's a friendly, easy-going guy. And that's cool...

Sort of sounds like it. Procol Harem basically exists because of one song. It happens to a lot of groups. The first song they put out is so good nobody wants to hear anything else by the group. A hit record can be a curse rather than a blessing.
Not with Procol Harum. They have a lot of great tracks and full albums to listen to...=)
Nah, they may have on had 2 songs that got airplay (the other was Conquistador), but they, along with Yes, Emerson Lake and Palmer, King Crimson, Genesis, Pink Floyd (more Space Rock), and others were massively popular among Progressive Rock fans.
No no Procol Harum are wonderful I've more than 120 of their songs ,I understand the basis of your comments as they should have been appreciated much more

Man, you took that much loved song and made something brand new. Please don’t ever lose patience when people ask for well known slow songs because to anyone who listens, you shine so much more brightly when you play them. I swear you hear so many more chords in your head than any of us could imagine. You have the ability to expose raw emotion in the listeners and that is uplifting and mesmerising at the same time, do you even realise the effect you have? I hope you listen well and objectively to your own playbacks.
