@Alphagon & Omegarius did the dev planned to make a nurgle campain ? It would be cool to play as the death guard and be the bad guys to spread the corruption onto the others planet, with basic ennemy unit being guardsmen.
Mortarion is one of the scariest bad guys in 40k, and yet compared to Draigo he’s basically a Saturday morning cartoon villain.😂
I mean he is fighting a guy who regularly fights demons and greater demons on a daily basis in their own realm.

Well it took only 109 grey knights to fight and banish Angron and a war host of khorne berserkers and demons counting 50,000 and 13 blood thirsters, only 18 survived. They got help,but the odds are still insane. Grey knights really are one man armies when fighting demons.
@@domc9801 I believe they shouldn't be held to the Codex. They and the Space Wolves have proven to be very much able to withstand corruption, often dying first before giving in. The Codex limiting numbers... is asinine

@@TheHorreK2 Draigo , by this point, is probably almost as overpowered as a Primarch. He held his own against Mortarion long enough to figure out his true name, and that's centuries ago, before he entered the warp. After staying in the warp for this long, and given that the warp boosts your psychic abilities, you can only imagine how powerful he is now. The dude solo kills greater daemons on the daily. Armies of the Gods have given up trying to hunt him down, because it is utterly pointless.
Add to that 4 elite Grey Knights who are psychically attuned, each boosting one another, and you can see why the outcome of this battle isn't that far fetched. If a squad of Grey Knights with a Lord Inquisitor can banish Angron on Armageddon, then an elite squad led by Draigo can beat Mortarion.
And you seem to underestimate Draigo and how the warp boost your psychic energy as you stay close to its vicinity.

Seems odd in the HH novels it took 100 grey knights and some terminators to stop and just stop the advance of angron and 12 "blood thirsters" from that battle only 6 survived with heavy injury's...
Seems the GK where the only thing in 40k that got better at their job with time.
Well the death guard and Morty are a bunch of useless smelly cunts and the World Eaters are the World Eaters so this checks out

For those that wonder how powerful grey knight are. Uriel Ventris and Passanius of the ultra marines were vested in combat by one single grey knight. I forget the name of the short story or book (but I think it’s the killing fields?)

I like the Mortarion's model from this game more than the actual mini. It just feels better

What a great ending. Shows the sacrifice each grey knight makes and how powerful they all are. Very sad about the 8 left behind, their gene seed will not live on, truly a sad day for the chapter. They also won't be buried on Titan with the rest of their brethren.

I have zero issue with 4 Grey Knight veterans killing a few Dozen Elite Deathguard that's lore accurate. However when fighting Mortarian it should be like a Dozen and Kaldor to show the actual level of power the Deamon Primarch's have. Otherwise this game was pretty good. It could have been better but a big improvement over many turn based games for 40K lately. Battlesector was also very good and the Necrons addition made that game even better.

They grey knights are infused with part of Magnus the Reds Soul and the Emperors Genes. They are on a next level, and Mortarion isn’t really the strongest primarch since he fell to chaos. He consistently can be seen relying on the all too fallible warp

As a tyranid player im anticipating the same treatment for the bugs. Tyranid warriors are "more than equal to a space marine" but are probably going to be treated as slightly beefy cannon fodder that you kill in droves

I know it's a video game so they have to outnumber you to balance the game. But would 4 Grey Knights be able to fend off that many chaos space marines? I mean in lore
Are they build to fight demon in purpose. Of course in 40k lore they suffer casualties but they are defintly able to do this carnage
Hmmm... Grey Knights & Deathwatch are very elite marines and as such, each one is very valuable and capable. They have good lore. You can find vids about their history and initiations here on TH-cam. They're probably more comparable to a chaos lord or lesser demon. Still, in lore and the tabletop anything can happen. One might kill 5 chaos marines but could also be killed by one chaos marine. Plague Marines are very resilient and their plague weapons are deadly. A marines modifications, weaponry and power armour make them all pretty threatening so it depends on the situation. I think in lore, Mortarion is above any marine besides a Primarch and could swat the whole squad himself but it's a game and they favour the heros
Fighting an army of plague marines wouldn't be too difficult for Draigo and 8 experienced knights, it's often the norm for the grey knights to be outnumbered in such a way. The only far fetched thing here is that Mortarion would absolutely wipe the floor with them. For reference about 100 grey knights were barely able to win a fight against Angron during the war for Armageddon.

Also Angron and alot of Khorne helpers would do way more damage and struggle harder then mister "i dont care! I got infinite time to kill you in the Garden!"
IIRC, in the tabletop game the Grey knights are costly units by they outperform most Space Marines by default, without even accounting for the anti-demon gimmicks.
So they really are geared to win despite being clearly outnumbered.

If the ending seems underwhelming, consider the following: You have thwarted only a single scheme against the Imperium of Man. Thousands more are in motion against from countless other adversaries. Worse, for all the lives and souls lost, none of the adversaries defeated have died a true death, and will return in time to plague the Imperium again, being Chaos-spawned. This wasn't a win, it was a stalemate that came at a far heavier cost for you than for the enemies you faced.
Kinda wished they could’ve animated his wings to where they seem like robes until they flare out.
y'know for a demon primarch of Nurgle mortarions actually looking pretty normal, except for his face basically being melted, they definitely gave him some credit here because we know he looks MUCH worse in the books and lore
