Thank you for the tutorial, David. I'm actually planning on upgrading the storage of my Matebook 13 and following your method of cloning the SSD will save me a lot of time when I make the upgrade.
I got a Samsung 980 drive and the Sabrent reader. Was still able to use the Acronis Sabrent cloning software! (The Samsung Data Migration refused to see the drive)
I'm looking into upgrading my ssd now. I inspected your video and wondered if we can make the larger double sided ssd fir better. Around the 4:55 mark I noticed a black piece about 1/3 of the way from the right. If you check at the 5:22 mark it looks like the bowing is being caused by this piece. I suspect, if this is removable, looks like a pad, we should be able to fit the larger double sided ssd with no issue. We could also find a thinner pad to replace there if padding is needed.
I contacted Razer to ask if that was a decent / supported way to go, and they were cagey. Like, their update instructions on their site seem overcomplicated if cloning works. Why do they not just recommend this method over creating a recovery disc plus backup disc etc...I would prefer to do it this way but want to make sure it'll put everything back where it is supposed to go...
the problem is that Acronis true image doesnt provide the Sabrent ssd cloning for free, because im on now trying to do this on my razer 14 and i am still facing the subscription pop-up and cloning function llocked, while im on the free trial
Hi I've been following this tutorial but after cloning everything onto the new SSD, and then attempting to boot that up, I get this error: Your PC/Device needs to be repaired. Error Code: 0xc000000e
Are these 2021 blade 14's officially upgradable? The Mr Memory site for example they don't officially offer SSD options for the RZ09-0370. I'd like to try swapping in the WD_BLACK 2TB SN850X or a SABRENT Rocket 2TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe 4.0 M.2. Anyone think either of these two options would be a good fit for the 2021 Blade 14?
The new m. 2 ssd go up to 4 TB Gen 4 with backwards compatibility to Gen 3, it's AMD and I want to use Firecuda 4TB in my razer Blade 14 I cam be sure if their is a bend but I will consider it
This will work for replacing the main drive on a two drive laptop no problem (as long as it has NVMe m.2 slots and USB-C port). And for the secondary slot that's Windows isn't on you would just unscrew and put a drive into that slot, nothing special to do really if it's the second slot)
So I just got the razer blade 14 w/ 3070 gpu, I bought myself a Sabrient 2tb Rocket Q NVME, i tried to use Acronis software with my sabrient in a SSK enclosure. I open acronis and it doesn't recognize my SSD so I couldn't use the software. Fast foward researching the second application to clone my RB14, I figure out the second best software is Macrium. So I clone my drive and after installing in my blade, it gave me an error I have to use recovery blue screen. So I don't know what is going on with this. So now I'm stuck using the stock SSD. Any tips or pointer, I will really appreciate it.
1. Why the rocket Q ? Is there a difference between the one he has in the video and the rocket? I don’t know too much about computers honestly I’m just now getting into it. 2. I was having a similar issue, I ended up uninstalling the acronis apps and then installed the “true image for sabrent” after contacting customer service… they emailed me an external downloadable software because of the issues I kept encountering. You can give it a try maybe it will work like that 🤷🏽♂️
Is there a video or a good walkthrough of updating the blade 14 to include usb4, I was looking at the steps for an update on their site and it isn’t that straight forward, it says Razer updater includes the link download, usb4 support and support battery health optimizer, then below is the steps but when checking for usb4 support like it says doesn’t show under mine that it does, so my question is the Razer blade 14 (2022) firmware -updater is what gives you the usb4 or is it like some of these articles like pc world saying that the update to usb4 comes from Razer support and they provide a link or something to upgrade, again could use the help ??
Hey Unlockr... Could you enable the Closed Captioned feature so I can read what you were sharing about this laptop.. It would definitely help me know what's your technical view point about why 8TB option would not be a good idea. Thanks..
Correct! If you have a second slot that's empty you can put an nvme m.2 in it and format it by right clicking on it and selecting format in windows and then it'll just show up as a D: drive generally and you can move files to and from it
are all M2's SSD this thick? aren't any other brands thinner? (like samsung, adata, seagate, crucial, wd...); although I like the 8TB ssd, what you have there is a single point of failure; being an ssd, any cell that crashes takes the entire ssd with it - best option would be to have a mix of drives ssd + hdd (hybrid of course) or at least 2 slots where you can do a raid 10 (speed baby) and if any fails, the other one can carry on (until its sibling comes back)
All m.2 SSDs with that much capacity (generally any 4/8TB ones) are that thick because of how they're built. So you'll run into this if you go for any that large (at least for now). Otherwise, as mentioned, the 2TB sits fine in the slot.
Does the software you use to copy the existing drive also copy the recovery partition to the new drive so that you can reset the computer back to factory if needed?
Hey man good video i was just posting about this on note book forums. my 2tb ADATA ssd is unfortunately double sided which causes the bend, and i'm more concerned about it damaging the laptop NVME drive connector than the SSD - do you think this could cause permanent damage to the laptop or is that NVME port engineered to take it?
That's exactly what I needed to know.. So the ssd does bend.. same as my prometheus XVII.. I just didn't want to risk it, so returned the rocket 4TB and will be buying a WD Black 4TB, which is single sided.
I visited the WD website that states the 4tb model is indeed double sided. Did you find a single sided 4tb model? They don’t seem to exist from what I’ve seen
@@teddym2808 thanks for your reply. I was hoping I was wrong. My laptop only has one slot and I really wanted to find a 4tb single sided nvme. Maybe one day.

Not for everyone... If you are going to make a tutorial for everyone, at least make the software available for everyone. A proprietary software from the ssd brand is not what we want to learn.
Will you consider repasting the CPU and GPU? If so, a tutorial for that similar to this one will be much appreciated
I shivered when you showed that nice long clip of the new ssd in place. Like I get it, it's your stuff... It still hurts though

The capacity is NOT THE ISSUE. There are 4TB SSDs that are single sided like the Samsung 990 PRO. Just avoid the double side ones and you'll be fine.
Can I use a Samsung sad instead of the one you are using ?
Can you do a vlog on what's in my Unlockr bag? Always find these really helpful and practical 👌
Hi I've been following this tutorial but after cloning everything onto the new SSD, and then attempting to boot that up, I get this error: Your PC/Device needs to be repaired. Error Code: 0xc000000e
Do you need to initialize the nvme first and assign a drive letter? The Acronis is saying calculating time…..
it's fine to have a slight bend in your m.2

Best speeds were 512 or 1 tb for speed testing and good usb-c sticks did just as good all bigger sizes slower might be heat stacking up also.
How much storage have you already used out of the 8tb?
