as an autistic and nonbinary lesbian this character is so deeply personal to me so pls enjoy this brand new hyperfixation and on LESBIAN VISIBILITY DAY, NO LESS ❤️
i love that she's very autistic-coded while still being funny, and dramatized for entertainment without being ableist like it's genuinely good rep
Autistic-coded? wtaf does that even mean?
@@paullannon8280 exactly as it says🧍♂️ basically showing autistic traits/underlying subtext that can be related to the autistic experience without explicitly stating they're portraying an autistic person
@@paullannon8280Strongly implied to be Autistic, but it’s never explicitly stated as such. They expect the audience to figure it out themselves.
@@paullannon8280when people “coded” they mean strongly implied to be or very similar to :)
@@paullannon8280 Basically "the show never confirmed she's autistic"
It does lend to the theory that being on the spectrum can be hereditary. Just looking at her mum and her uncle it's kinda obvious.
Exactly!!! They play their roles so well and the script is amazing.
@@RoyaMoyaSoya If she's written Autie-Coded then it counts. I was diagnosed in the 90s, and even back then it was still not really heard of much.
2:08 perfection
Orla closing her ears when things get loud is the first time I've seen anyone do it apart from me, and I'll eternally be grateful for that rep.
this showed me how she’s always doing something in the background. i hadn’t noticed before bc she’s not pulling focus, but she’s giving orla a full life even outside of what the script shows of her. very good from an acting standpoint
Uncle Colm passed the autism down
Honestly her and her mom is so autistic I love them
Orla wanting to keep her tonsils is one of my fave reoccurring gags in the show lol. I love that even their Grand Da asked about them when he was introduced to the villain who took her tonsils and then threw them away.
I love watching Orla in scenes she's not the focus in (this is also the first time I've noticed the Sinéad O'Connor poster in Erin's bedroom)
I'm also autistic and non-binary (not a lesbian but happy lesbian visibility week!) and I love Orla so much! I think she's a great example of someone being truly themselves, autistic or not (although, I would guess that she's autistic) and I think that's awesome. I also loved the part where she said she had to eat the strawberry pop-tart out of pity because, as a child, I would always have a strange amount of empathy for inanimate objects. I honestly have so much to say about each clip and about Orla and Derry Girls as a whole but have kept this brief so I don't lose track of time. This was a lovely video, thank you!
As someone who's also autistic and non binary I whole heartedly agree
Omg same, when I was younger I decided to change my favourite colour everyday so none of the colours would feel sad or left out
I’m similar. If I step on something like a crack or curb with one foot, I have to step on it with the other foot so everything is even and no one feels left out.
@@juliamiller5120 I do the SAME thing, it just feels so wrong not to do it
@@juliamiller5120I grew up like thatttt D:
Even before I knew I was autistic, I saw Orla and I was like “oh wait, she’s like me before dad helped me practice how to evaluate social situations!”
This was also before we knew dad was autistic 😆
Thank you!! I have autism, and when my and I watch the show, I’ll always go, “I think Orla is autistic.” Love that I found people who share my sentiment.
The way she holds up the key and says “Found it!” Just brings me so much joy.
The seriousness of when she says “if it is the run-away kind I’m going to need my snorkel back James” kills me every time
"And I'm grateful for cocopops." Honestly, who isn't 😂
Orla just does really well at exams despite the fact she's... well sub normal
Awwww thank you sister
😂
I understood "MY OWN SOCKS!!" deep in my soul
She screams Neurodivergent and I love her for it.
now I know why she talks really quietly, she doesn't like loud noises.
Erin: Give me back my diary! You can't read that!
Orla: I have to, I'm doing me book report on it
😂🤣
"I love my wee fingers" should love yourself like Orla❤
fave character in the whole show
11:39 everyone knows chips are THE safe food
Absolute truth! But you can’t always trust frozen chips, a dry, powdery, frozen chip is evil. Chips from a chippy are best I think. By chippy I mean fish n chip shop, where I live is right by the sea so if you like fish you’re in for a treat. Some shops will even do a battered Mars Bar, and one I know of will pretty much batter anything if you ask, you can even get battered creme eggs. I do not recommended a “half battered pizza,” it’s half a pizza in batter and my friend bought it just to try and gave me a bite and no…just no. Crime against my palate.
In my opinion we’ve got the best chippies, you can even get Smokies if you want to. Our town is famous for Smokies, even though they were from Auchmithie, we just took them and now it’s our tourist thing. Look that up if you want some old, niche, Scottish drama 😹
We have something actually important and interesting from history we could use to bring in tourists but no, our council are dumb and won’t capitalise on the importance of Scottish history to bring money to our town, they’d rather just charge us more in council tax for their failings. Yes, we aren’t a city, but we could be getting more tourists than just people from Glasgow who want a cheap holiday by the sea.
Anyway, sorry for the rant, chips are THE safe food though. Your mind made my mind 🤯 in a good way!
I would bring Sir Barristan to the dance, too.
I really like her on Deery girls and Renegade nell great actress I look forward to her future work. Hola from Mexico 🇲🇽
Both shows are awesome
Orla is my fav character
"I'm greatful for cocopuffs." Same Orla
Yeah as someone who’s neurodivergent we’re the same person 😂❤
Awesome compilation ❤
You cut off the "I CANNOT explain this to her again" after her line on the bus and it gets me every time
I’m autistic and she’s like perfect autistic representation
Just like me fr
"I haven't got a bra on." :)))
I'm just like her fr (always saying things that aren't intended to be funny but then everyone laughs at me)
Orla also has great abs btw
Oh i always figured she was schizotypal. Theres some crossover with autism but theyre separate
Orla is the best!
You did not bring my diary to school!!!
I had to. I'm doing my book report on it.
Sorry but Orla is Orla she knows what she says she knows what she sees, we need more orlas, life is what it is get on with it, take the big man down ☘️
I'd never noticed her being riveted by Colm's story 💀
This is so great! But where is the video of Erin and Orla in the cupboard from? I can't place it

@@woebeballer-phridge6739 Thank you so much!
Were they in the Christmas Cupboard?
a lot of you in the comments definitely aren't beating the autistic allegations lmao
Orla 🙏
Which episode is 3:40 from?
Wow Orla is really like me
Does that say weeby baller-fridge and if so why is this real life
She seems kinda affectionate for being autistic. But I realize autism affects people differently.
Is a spectrum
@@LagoRancoHelicopterTours Yes Orla IS probably on the spectrum.
Culture also impacts autistic expression. Ireland is a pretty tight-knit place so Orla has a lot of trust in her surroundings
@@beckerkorn1 Yes. I mean I am no expert at all. She seems like she's on the spectrum but so does Wednesday Addams.
