My husband gives me that confused look periodically as well but then I remember that "Men are from Mars and women are from Venus" . . .
Yes. It's true. There are definitely differences in men and women. I don't care what the new "experts" say. I'm also happy there are differences because I like men. My husband has a different way of thinking about things and thank God he does because I don't think about things the way he does and he gets things done that I can't.
I would use that sloped area, minus the trees, as your pumpkin patch, or for other vining plants, like watermelon…. That way, in the winter, it would be a beautiful “empty” lot for viewing the mountains. Also, the grassy area back there could be changed to a clover field…. Easy care and beautiful color in season, think crimson clover.

Fun, fun, fun!!♡ After seeing all those beautiful plants, I recall you saying "if you're on a budget, pick a few plants that are good performers and you won't need as many" Well, that's how I am going to roll this year. The El Brighto, Yellow Finch, and Redstone are just a few that I will be looking for along with some perennials that I can use in my pots then transplant out in the fall. Keeping it simple this year in my main pots and doing a lot of transplanting and moving things around to make everything look their best. I've learned a lot from you, Laura and I truly appreciate you.♡
Yup. Even my own mother was that way. Dumps garbage(mainly bright red Coke cans) right out of her car in the yard, with garbage cans near the driveway, on the porch, and next to and inside of the garage... Then I moved to Ohio, and the neighbors kept every appliance and decoration they ever owned... In their lawn. Constantly bought and we're donated new things, and the old stuff got tossed outside. Called the city, but they wouldn't do anything unless it became a hazard... 🤨 Even when someone ODed, and died, because they couldn't access them quickly enough... Yup. Moved real quick.

Oh my! The big green grass area would be a great Baseball diamond 😂 As a child, girls and boys, living way out in the country, all the neighborhood kids gathered to a field and played baseball for years. To have grass, not weeds would have been a dream! I know today kids are not able to run wild as we did in our youth..this is just a sweet memory for me. Your home is your business..can’t have neighborhood kids running around wild all day. (Oh, the good old days) Don’t even know why I made this comment..❤(KH)

Hey Laura. All looks great xx. I hope you don't mind but your friend Jenny at Gardening at Creekside could do with some love after the devastation of her nursery after a storm. Sure hope you could send some love down to North Carolina folks. It's heart breaking seeing her break down on her channel. Thanks Laura. xx

To answer everyone's questions and comments about whether they're still getting horses and where they'll go, see their video called "Aaron's New Toy + Working on Big Changes to the Dirtlands"... at 10:26 there is an aerial view showing the area where the horses and horse barn will go (what they call the "Dirtlands" for now), left/center bottom of screen. The area Laura was talking about today is the other new land they purchased that is behind the barn, which is in the upper right part of the screen. You can see a big white rectangle in it, and that's the basketball court. It gets confusing to visualize sometimes and keep track of what's "what" and where everything is, so that video is a good help to picture where everything is... Cheers!
Love Russell snoozing in the greenhouse. I'm waiting for my tiny delivery of 4 supertunia vista bubblegum. Making one flowerbed at a time in my garden.
Seeing you get your flood of annual plants, then watching Jenny at Creekside see her beautiful, hard work washed away by an actual flood was such a rollercoaster of emotions.
WOW! Love all the parts of this video. A note about getting a good look at live insects - catch them in a clear container/jar and put them in the fridge for 5 to 10 minutes. They are "cold blooded" animals - same as fish - so the cold slows their movements. When you bring them out, you will have a few minutes to get a good look at them before they warm up and get zoomy again.
Laura, have you ever considered a pool surrounded by flowers and evergreens inspired by an English garden? I'm sure the kids will eventually want one. LOVE your garden!
Your photo with added circles, colors & drawings really helped me follow along with the explanation. I’m so visual that I get lost with just words, so thank you for doing all of that for us. All the ideas you shared & unknown possibilities are so exciting!!! I hope this is a wonderful season for you & your family 🥰
I feel like I got a workout just watching this video! Really looking forward to seeing the process of all of your ideas come to fruition over the course of the summer.
Just got my order of proven winners supertunias and for 20 plants it was $180!!!! which for me is a lot and these will just cover a couple small areas for me. The haul of stuff shown in this video is really a crazy amount of $$ and plants. It's hard to wrap my head around getting that much stuff for a residential property.
Behind the barn you should consider a clover lawn instead of grass. It gives the appeal of a grass with a lot less maintenance. Clover lawns are drought resistant, less expensive, no need to fertilize or apply pesticides/herbicides and it rarely needs to be mowed.
Love the plans! I would totally keep the grass area (like in your drawing)! As the kids get older, they will want to play soccer, baseball, etc. and it would be the perfect place to set up soccer nets etc! I think it would be better there then In front of the house, since everyone playing can be together. You could play basketball , but then soccer, the little playground everything at the same place :).
And…on a sadder note, I’m praying for Creekside Garden. Poor things. I’m in Ga, and the weather has been CRAZY. But, not that crazy. Actually got teary.
Really enjoy watching your videos! I read in a previous comment that Cheddar is no longer with us…is this true? I am praying that it’s not true. That would be just too sad 😢.
What a great delivery. I can see many hours of planting and enjoyment in your future. Yesterday I finally got tomatoes and peppers in the ground after all the stroms Oklahoma has goten over the past weeks. I actually understood your plans for the new lot. It will look so nice in the near future.
The large slope at the very back of the property could be a good place for some tiger eye sumac-- you could let it just ramble and spread without having to worry about maintenance and whatnot. I thought maybe you had said you were gonna rock over it or something, but the sumac is an idea! :)
Area behind the barn might be a nice area to just leave for maybe future interest of kids. Baseball ⚾️ soccer ⚽️ small animals 🐐🐓🪿🐇🐑🐖 or maybe a medicinal plant garden with its own herb shed. Also a nice pergola would be nice for around the tennis court area with outdoor kitchen. Oh, it’s fun to spend your money 💰 😆🏡 Thanks for many years of morning videos. It’s a joy. 😊
That sloped area in the back is where I’d go as a kid for sure 😂 zip line would be awesome a play or tree house too like on the movie Now and Then the girls worked all summer when they were 12 to buy one (cute movie) and maybe mountain bike track trail, and tree swing. Some sort spot to be alone in nature with the view of the mountains and can create whatever the kids want as they get older. Mine are 6 9 and 10 and are all about getting outside adventures in.. they love making Tee Pees out of big sticks that would be cool!
Just recently made a teepee to house my lawn mower... Then I fashioned it in to a fish trap, then I used it as a harvesting basket for the garden and to gather fire wood... Let them watch the Primitive Technology channel here on YT. No talking, instructions are in description, and there are so many cool little things they could build together! Maybe stick with the huts and tools... The bows and fire starting stuff can come later. 😂😂 Hope that sparks something in them like it did me! Cheers!
Very nice! I love to see all the new plants! I understand it takes awhile to have everything ironed out concerning the new property. You have plenty enough already in progress to keep us busy. Yes, in degrees it is warmer here but if feels cooler due to the humidity.( 5:01 Zone four) Thanks for showing all of the lovely plants and explaining the new propeties. We are all hoping we can get our plants planted outside soon! Snowed some today but it didn't stick! 😊
Laura, on this Mother’s Day weekend I want to honor your Mother. I do realize the difficulties in raising children as I had two of my own and I now have four grandchildren ranging in age from 18 months to 24 years. Your Mother has managed (with your Dad too) to raise a remarkable and cohesive family. When during your Father’s interview I was SO impressed when he gave her credit for managing so much of the discipline herself before he came home from work in the evenings. A critically important thing to do. I wish ALL the Mothers in your family a most HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY. What you all share with us is SUCH a gift! Thank You 😊
I've been watching for a very long time and I'm just so excited to see the new property develop. Those plans are amazing! Just a thought, are you planning a small comfortable seating area by the swings for y'all to sit while the kiddo's are playing? Maybe a pergola with hanging lights and a table.
Yes, the correct void to mass is really pleasing to the eye. I have large open fields where bluebirds and others love to hunt. We have plenty of deadfalls, thickets, and cane breaks though, and the lawn is really a mixture of grasses, native wildflowers, and edibles like chives and wild onion.
We put our childrens hands and foot prints and the date in the corner of our concrete patio. Our grands compaired their prints to their parents at the same age. Fun
QUESTION: Are you still thinking of getting horses, I thought you were thinking of placing them back there. 😬Great plans! I can’t wait to see them come together. 🥰
Laura are you aware of the flooding that Jerry and Jenny sustained at Creekside Nursery. I am so sorry for them. Jenny did get out before storm to tied up Dahlias. But they had quite a bit of loss. Know you had them out for a visit.
How about a pond swimming pool that will extend the fish pond to the creek bed and end with a pool pond that the kids can swim in! I have a friend who did this and it’s beautiful!
Seems like the open area of grass behind the barn would make sense to stay grass. If you have located most of your people/recreation/gathering areas there with basketball court, play area, etc. most likely children and adults will want to run and play (football, soccer) nearby.
Whoa! Do you ever catch your breath? Hoping you keep the back area grass for a while, for the kids. Russell is adorable! 😍 have you considered putting the high tunnels near your greenhouse? Would seem rather odd to keep them so far apart.? Hope you find some quiet time with the family, that seems like alot of work! I remember having that kind of energy when I was your age, enjoy it while it lasts.
what about a salt swimming pool! Would be great for summer. you put in a little pool house and shower and the salt pool is so much better Oooo, I love the idea of a wildflower meadow!
Love your videos! You are such an inspiration. Wow, basketball court, kids play area, maybe Aaron can get the swimming pool he has wanted. Would be a great family gathering area. ❤
They have both mentioned many times in many videos that they do NOT want a swimming pool. Her parents have a pool and all her family use it. Plus not everyone has a desire to have a pool.
Truly a nice haul of plants. Loved it. The kids are getting so big and grown up in their ways. So glad you share them with us. They’re delightful. Russell looked so content. Always enjoy seeing him ever since you brought him home as a kitten. ❤️❤️❤️
What about creating a labyrinth with boxwoods and annuals? Formal looking and very zen/meditative :) Love your channel with my morning coffee every day, but it gets me in trouble because I start dreaming and planning as big as you do!! 😅
@@JermaineGertse Yes, Labyrinths are similar, but usually not as high up as a maze, it's a tool used to help clear your mind, and sort of a walking meditation to follow the winding path. A ribbon, or field, of lavender in an ombre effect would be pretty.
The Apple blossom impatients are just the sweetest! Love them💖
Just got my order of proven winners supertunias and for 20 plants it was $180!!!! which for me is a lot and these will just cover a couple small areas for me. The haul of stuff shown in this video is really a crazy amount of $$ and plants. It's hard to wrap my head around getting that much stuff for a residential property.
It's their business though, not just a residential property. Plus these annuals will also be used for projects outside of their place.
Behind the barn you should consider a clover lawn instead of grass. It gives the appeal of a grass with a lot less maintenance. Clover lawns are drought resistant, less expensive, no need to fertilize or apply pesticides/herbicides and it rarely needs to be mowed.
Grass is great as long as it’s nice grass 😂😂 centipede grass is the bane of my existence!
I also think adding a small round gazebo structure with a picnic table inside for shade would be lovely :)
The little barn would also be perfect and close to store all the sport equipment! :) i know my boys would love that!
Russell looks so sweet and comfortable under your table.
Wonderful video. After following you around, I think I need a nap. Love Russell. Love seeing the children just roaming around.
I'm now addicted to PW plants thanks to your channel. Love them ❤
Good morning, Laura, from Windermere, Florida zone 9b USA
Happy Gardening Everyone 👩🌾❤
❤Peggy❤
And…on a sadder note, I’m praying for Creekside Garden. Poor things. I’m in Ga, and the weather has been CRAZY. But, not that crazy. Actually got teary.
Really enjoy watching your videos! I read in a previous comment that Cheddar is no longer with us…is this true? I am praying that it’s not true. That would be just too sad 😢.
Right! Haven’t seen him in a bit
Today was like walking in plant heaven. I even saw an angel sleeping in some soil. Lol
It’s a joy. 😊
That sloped area in the back is where I’d go as a kid for sure 😂 zip line would be awesome a play or tree house too like on the movie Now and Then the girls worked all summer when they were 12 to buy one (cute movie)
and maybe mountain bike track trail, and tree swing.
Cheers!
I wouldn't be in a hurry to develop that area until you really know what you want to do. You have time. Just enjoy it for now.😊
A gazebo near the basketball court/play area would be nice where you can have birthday parties and such.
Thank You 😊
Have you considered putting in a splash pad for the kids? It’s perfect for hot days and doesn’t require close supervision.
That is a YEARS WORTH of projects done-in-a-day!!! Lucky you!
When you said “red car” I thought you meant the Cozy Coop at first 😆
Now I know why I can’t fin PW plants in my local nursery, Laura has them all in her back yard 😅
I've been watching for a very long time and I'm just so excited to see the new property develop. Those plans are amazing! Just a thought, are you planning a small comfortable seating area by the swings for y'all to sit while the kiddo's are playing? Maybe a pergola with hanging lights and a table.
A wild flower meadow sounds delightful on the sloped area on the new property 💜
I like open grass .. clean and peaceful🥰
Fun
Good morning all have a safe and blessed day ❤️
can't believe still having cold nites ....burrrr
QUESTION: Are you still thinking of getting horses, I thought you were thinking of placing them back there. 😬Great plans! I can’t wait to see them come together. 🥰
Apparently that area is too small
Your enthusiasm for the plants is so nice and for all the projects you have going on
It's lovely to see someone so happy with what you do
the sound is always good even with the wind, your microphone doesnt pick it up
Laura are you aware of the flooding that Jerry and Jenny sustained at Creekside Nursery.
Would be great for summer. you put in a little pool house and shower and the salt pool is so much better
Oooo, I love the idea of a wildflower meadow!
Russel: "oh hey I wasn't napping, I was just mixing up this soil for you with all my extra toe beans" 😂
Oh a wild flower meadow would look great back there with walking paths that are just mowed throughout it. So many possibilities.
🌸🌸Way too fun! And a lot of work! Looking fwd to the projects. Don't worry about the plastic - wasn't loud at all!🌼🌼
Your “mess of a day” is very interesting & a joy to watch!! Drooling over the annual load 😍
Mercy.. a bunch of busy beavers! I'm pooped...g l ad you had a lot I'd help. The plants are gorgeous
I feel like a kid in a candy store watching this! 🤗🌸
How many others have added Laura's 10-day forecast to their own?? ☀️⛈️⛅️
LOL! I thought I was the only one. I live in Texas (Zone 9) almost to the coast and I check Laura's forecast almost as much as I check my own.
Hey Laura It looks like Russell Has the best seat in the house.
42:22 minutes of Garden Answer galore. What a treat! 😍🙏🌸
I would love to have a bounty of flowers delivered to my door 😃🥰 Alas, I need to plant by piecemeal....gettin' there!😁
❤❤❤
Go Laura, what an amazing life you two have made for your family🎉❤😇
Truly a nice haul of plants. Loved it. The kids are getting so big and grown up in their ways. So glad you share them with us. They’re delightful. Russell looked so content. Always enjoy seeing him ever since you brought him home as a kitten. ❤️❤️❤️
What about creating a labyrinth with boxwoods and annuals? Formal looking and very zen/meditative :) Love your channel with my morning coffee every day, but it gets me in trouble because I start dreaming and planning as big as you do!! 😅
Like a maze?
@@JermaineGertse Yes, Labyrinths are similar, but usually not as high up as a maze, it's a tool used to help clear your mind, and sort of a walking meditation to follow the winding path. They are an ancient thing, and often found in temples and monasteries, very cool! I highly suggest looking them up on google and checking them out 🙂
What about keeping the grass there for soccer and baseball and football? With the play area and basketball courts being there it just feels like that would be the area for the kids as they grow up ❤
Ohio and a trampoline…they seem to be very popular 😊❤. Whatever you decide I’m sure it will be gorgeous!
