I have family that live near Cottonwood Mall. Love to visit ABQ. They did take me into some hood areas once for some really good Mexican food other than just always eating at El Pinto.
In the middle 1980's , I used to work for the Southern Pacific Railroad and spent a lot of time in Lordsburg. It was a crew change point for the Tucson and El Paso train crews. I grew up in El Paso , but worked out of Tucson. There used to be a large concrete coal tower next to the tracks . Nearby was the modular rooms we stayed in. Ate a lot of good Mexican food at the restaurant near the Depot. The Union Pacific Railroad took over the SP in 1995 and shortly after torn down all the old railroad buildings and run through to El Paso.

Great tour of Lordsburg. My mom's house is at 4:38-40 time. She past away Feb. 2019. It was a surprise to see her house on your tour. BTW my step dad dies in that house in 2016. His name was Charlie Williams. Again this was a great video of home. Thank you for sharing.

In all of these videos of American hoods, a couple of things really stand out for me (Im Australian). Mainly the really poor condition of some of the roads, and also the trash and rubbish everywhere! Also the really bad condition of some of the houses, in Australia they would have been condemned. Its like America has just let its infrastructure deteriorate...
We have greedy politicians they could care less about infrastructure but fair to say that these are actually the bad neighborhoods and the rich part it's unbelievable especially here in the Bay area where I'm at the houses are huge and the places are very clean

I grew up in Lordsburg NM 1960-72 it actually was a very nice little town with all the good that went with it. The mining industry, and railroad were a big factor in success of the economy. But when they took I-10 that ran down Main Street and did the I-10 Bypass That was the beginning of the end. Trust lordsburg had a community of really nice homes white picket fences and it use to thrive. Unfortunately now it’s a simple little almost ghost town with very few businesses Just Saying

It's far from pretty, borderline ugly and dry as hell, but I loved it there. The people are kind and helpful like everyone should be. Food was amazing at Chatterbox. Grateful the cashier at Saucedo's told us to eat there. The Pozole was the best, and so was the huevos rancheros.

I'm 50, my grandparent eloped in Lordsburg back in the 50's. In the 70's you could go the country western clothing store or the auto parts store or go to the barber. Today it looks like it survives on truck drivers/hotels only?
Quite a few trailers. Something you don't realize if you live somewhere, like in many eastern states, where they're not common, is that millions and millions of lower income people live in trailers.

The park owners can raise the space rents as much as they want and the trailer owners have no choice but to pay. Moving trailers elsewhere costs many thousands of dollars and can be physically impossible with older trailers.

@Jess West End that's all small towns in New Mexico. They're all pretty poor and there is usually never anything going on. I always thought places like this would be the "perfect" place to hide if you had some money and didn't want anyone looking for you.
