I was door dashing 2 nights ago and was led into this neighborhood. So much is grown up and blocked off by dirt hills and trees but it was super creepy.

This is the Old Cotton Mill Village,we lived there from 1946 to 1953 on what was then 351 Smith Ave,Prichard, Al.I went to Barton Academy there and they built a New school right next to it on Neese Ave.It was a very nice community until after we moved the Blacks turned it into The Hood.Its a disgrace how the Mayor didn't Stop this. We have some nice friends there and I loved my teachers.We had big yards to play in and only walked about 2 blocks to school.We were poor but we kept our homes and neighborhood clean.When the blacks with their drugs moved in they turned it into a Hell hole,the hood.I dont know When they changed the name of our street from Smith Ave to 611 Vernon Ave. The school was named Snug Harbor still when we moved in 1953.I cried when I saw the destruction of this lively community,it was my faviorite place we lived when I was in elementery school.We use to walk all over the neighborhood and had so many friends The streets were not paved and we had no inside plumbing,but we were happy and lived very clean lives.Everybody helped each other in need.

I grew up with former residents there from fifties and sixties. They were all working people. I lived in a concrete duplex across Craft Highway highway till 1959. We moved to Chin street. Went 1st and 2nd grade in old wooden building there(Snug Harbor School) then Glendale, PJHS and Vigor. Great memories, great friends. It is disgusting what hateful black leadership did to the old Prichard. What they have done with Prichard has nothing to do with equality. This is cultural third world uncivilized lazy dysfunction. What you get with the welfare state and irresponsible undisciplined self indulgence. Don’t blame others. Fix yourself.
