So what does this mean for the tier list? Honestly I'm not too sure. Maybe characters like Boomerang Bro and the Yoshi alts will get boosts compared to the power hitters. It's definitely worth making sure you have enough good star swings in your lineup so you can get on base consistently (all power hitters might not be the best move).

In Mario Baseball 3, they should make it so that all characters have a Star Swing and all characters have a Special Swing, activated by different button combos. A Star Swing would be functionally equivalent to the captain Star Swings in Sluggers. Similar characters could have similar star swings to reduce development work. A Special Swing would be like the non-captain Star Swings in this game. Maybe a Star Swing could cost 2 Star Points and a Special Swing could cost 1. Idk, I'm just spitballing here!

considering other sports games nintendo's put out recently, this is feasible with the roster of 14 mario baseball 3 would have

this makes sense but i feel like the names should be swapped, star swings should be the normal ones and special swings should be the 2 star ability ones. just a nitpick tho and a good idea for sure! i’m worried about a mario baseball 3 though because the switch installments of the other mario sports games haven’t been great..

It has been ages since I last played Sluggers, but this is eye-opening. When I used to play, I actually _never_ used non-Captain Star Swings. I also never liked the babies as I thought they had no redeeming qualities beyond speed. This is good information and it might change the way I play if I ever end up playing this game again.

There’s lots of variations in the types too! Tiny Kong is a long line drive type but it doesn’t go as far as someone like Kritter’s.

I did a league with some friends a while ago, and I used Shy Guy star swings a lot. They were a decent way to ensure I got bases loaded

I honestly don’t use non-captain star swings that often honestly. I just prefer having the chance to hit a home run if I’m up to bat, or slap hit if I’m using Waluigi, or Dry Bones. Definitely understand why the non-captain star swings are so important though.

Amazing video, I knew about this type of swing but never realized only the weak batters do it. Almost impossible to catch especially in the middle.
Is the counterplay maybe attacking the ball? Since catching it doesn't seem worth it if it can bounce off or freeze an outfielder for like 2 seconds.
Excited to use the Baby bros as I always love using them!

Yep, I talked about attacking it, it’s the best counter but you need to be fast

Ooh I might’ve mentioned that at some point, surprised you remember! It does seem like lower level CPU’s bobble a lot more but I don’t have actual data on that. So yeah, these star swings are better against level 1’s.
