@@Musique3579 There is. Get yourself a hairband that fits around your head, the type most girls use to hold back their hair when playing sports. Then, just put it around your head in a position that reflects the style of fade you desire and shave all the hair beneath it. Move it up a 1/2" to 1" at a time using ascending sized guards to set your guidelines and proceed to blend those guidelines out. Once you've done that a few times, you'll find that you don't need the hairband for a guide anymore. This is the technique I used when I began cutting my own hair at age 10...hope this helps!

@@atlantamade2905 yep. what Is like to end up knowing is, how many times or how many years of doing of doing my own hair can I end up doing it perfectly like this
@@Dieaboutitt__ I’ll try provide as much details as possible as you seem like someone seeking answered. I’ve been doing this for how long now? 2.5 years, since COVID lockdown, which is what forced me to learn as all barbers were shut and was desperate (was going to them every 3 weeks for fade) But I still cut my hair every 3 weeks (as well as my son’s) I’ve now ended up buying all the best equipment; wahl seniors, babyliss trimmer + shavers, Japanese shear sets To put it in perspective, you get better but it’s still not easy, this is just my experience as a non-professional and someone who was forced and wants to perfect it as a skill so I won’t have to rely on driving, parking, waiting for barber and turning away when they aren’t there or too busy. You eventually get used to things such as; how and when to flick your wrist, learning your head shape, when to go higher and when not to… trusting and getting more used to the clipper and which guards to use. But it’s a very slow process to learn as once/twice every 3 weeks is not frequent enough to learn as apposed to doing this by trade on a daily basis. You won’t know until you try. But things to consider are; You can take up to x3-4 times longer than a barber on your own head, there will be limitations to self cut; such as lighting, angle/reach/awkwardness and visibility is always my biggest challenge. You may also make mistakes each time as I’ve pointed out, not all tutorials may work for you, due to hair type, texture and head shape. And for tutorials that will work, it can be a bit and miss for your self-cut just simply by the day you’re having and luck. I admire Martiblendz‘s persona and content, but I personally do not favour the technique and method, i recall trying it and it didn’t turn out too well…. This could be due to lack of experience at the time, but i wouldn’t try it again as I’ve found it is not at all an easy method, especially for amateurs or DIYers (there’s easier techniques that work just as well, this method also gives you too much of a compressed look, IMO, a slight more gradual fade looks nicer) I recommend trying out different tutorials, try find ones that works, it helps by writing the ones down and putting a tally on how many times you’re happy with it… then stick to it and make any adjustments to suit your hair type.
I definitely recommend doing a wider blend when trying this for the first time! You have to be A MASTER to be able to pull off such condensed fade on yourself! 🤯
I've been cutting my own hair for years and only recently experimented with a bald fade. I love the look but I'm having a heck of a time removing the guideline. I'll have to try these techniques next cut. great video!

Great tutorial, but how do you decide where your baseline should be at the back of your head? Also, how do you decide how many layers you need to fade. I've seen you used 3 I think but I've seen others with more layers.
I think it depends on if they’re going with the clipper over the comb technique a lot of people will stop at a certain guard and go with that technique

Dude I started cutting my hair about late 2020 and my biggest piece of advice is don’t be scared to actually cut the hair esp when fading. If you want clean guide lines you have to really get into the different layers of hair with the clippers!
Hey Marty, or anyone with experience with this method. When u make the 1 inch guideline with the 1.5 guard fully open then later come in with the 0.5 guard halfway open (1/2 inch guideline) then again 0.5 guard fully open (another 1/2 inch guideline), is the 1.5 guard used for debulking purposes or is the 1.5 open part of the blend? I’m confused because u know 1/2 in+1/2 in = 1 in. And if it does matter, I like the more stretched fades, other than that great tutorial and I love ur vids and work!!
@@abelscuts Thank u so much, if u don’t mind answering again, do u know if the 1 open to finish removing the top line is underneath the 1.5 open as well, or would it be right above, I’m guessing it’s underneath but I just need some reassurance. Thank u
