  • I have to move off my sailboat because I am not allowed to stay there during yard time and find myself in a skanky hotel. Luckily, I get a visit from my friend Andy who is helping with making molds for In Mocean and some boat refit projects | Untie The Lines S7E03

    Ahoy everyone!
    My name is Nike and I have been living and sailing on my sailboat Karl since 2013. After a massive refit marathon, I finally cast off the lines and learnt to solo sail my 37-foot Reinke Super 10 that I called "Karl". I am publishing videos (at the moment every two weeks) about the ups and downs of living, repairing and sailing my boat.
    Since January 2022, I have a new permanent crew member: my furry friend Boga. When I started out, I did not know much about boat repair or solo sailing. Since I am still out there, I hope that my story inspires others, to chase their dreams, even if they might think they are not cut out for it. There is always a way, so I'll see you out there!

    Mold, coughing etc, I know it well. Maybe mold, definitley mold. I've been battling it for months, coughing, sneezing, rashes, spraying, wiping, ventilating. antihistimines, nasal sprays, finally getting better now after daily wiping and treatments!

    OYE. The hotel sport...is that the same one I visited you in? wow. I wish the marina would let us stay on the boat, even on the hard...imagine how much more productive wed be if they would...I wonder if that is part of the point? I enjoyed the episode, as always!

      @@SailingPAPILLON no, this is the one in “town”, the one u visited me at was a bit outside town. I swapped location after a month ☺️. The one u visited will be in the next episode.
      I have wondered many times why they have this policy about not staying on board. They mention insurance but then what’s the difference of u working on (or below) the boat during the day in comparison to sleeping on it at night 🤨🤔

      @@WhiteSpotPirates AHHH! lol, okay! Yeah...I was told they stopped allowing it because ONE guy was grinding on his hull late at night and ONE person complained...who knows right? But the new time schedule at the yard is also lame too...they kicked us off the boat many times right at 6pm. What ya gonna do...lol

    A tick-tac-toe game will soon end up in the bin. More long lasting useful things are needed, such as for sailing, like coffee mugs, bowls, spoons, knifes, - microwave pots, ...!

    • @WhiteSpotPirates
      @WhiteSpotPirates  หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @@coffee6783 thanks for ur feedback! I definitely agree that it’s important to do useful things. IMO, games are quite useful and fun and stick around and if not needed anymore can be passed on☺️. And lots of kids in these parts of the world don’t have access to many toys…which is why we went for this mold. I can see how in an over-saturated household this might look different but since we operate mostly in remote areas with fairly little infrastructure, I quite like the game idea ☺️
      Unfortunately, we cannot make anything food related because we cannot guarantee that the recycled plastic is food grade 🤷🏼‍♀️ otherwise, those would be really great things to produce, I very much agree 👍

    Know you are into recycling plastic, they are starting to use 3D printers to make HDPE boats, think that would be viable business making dinghies out of plastic, you could print really solid seaworthy boats with flotation chambers

      We have started a pilot project with In Mocean to scope out the options and impact of making and using recycled 3D filament and just had a productive meeting this morning (that Andy - who you got to know in this episode - was part of as well.
