Can't even express the difference in my feelings towards the Rangers right now versus 4 weeks ago. Since July 1st and Seether retiring it's Hit me maybe as of yesterday that this feels like a MASSIVE unraveling happening here right before our eyes with our GM...... You never know what the season could bring but being a ranger fan of 30 years im sensng a massive undoing going on and that is fucking depressing.
Here’s my thoughts, the only way you get better and not have to worry about signing big contracts is leaning on your farm system. Take the shinny toys out of the garage and let the you kids play big minutes during the season.
Guy was number 2 pick and im sure other teams trying to poach Rangers. Kaako is strong on puck. I think with some confidence and motivation he could playbright wing on first line. I wouldnt give him away for nothing. He was hurt this year also. I love how fans think the team can trade guys or add free agents when money is an issue!!! We were a couple of games from final with a nunber of big injuries. I think this team with some tweaks can help. Riley Smith was a nice addition.
I'm VERY sorry to break this to all Ranger fans, but the fact that freakin trouba is still on the team and they aren't moving him to clear up cap and get better players....like in free agency, we got nobody!! The rangers are NOT winning a stanley cup as long as he is on the team and taking up 8 million in cap, him and his wife are preventing the rangers getting a stanley cup...I was hoping the rangers would give him and get at least a forward and a dman at free agency but nothing, I'm depressed and I don't know what to think!!
Depends how you see it , I think kakko will become a good player just not in NY for his own good I'd rather see him breakout somewhere else than never .

You can't blame Drury or Trouba regarding his "no-move", that was all Jeff Gorton as was the $8M a year, always seen as a big over-pay. Kakko has been played on the 1st line & 2nd line and disappointed offensively every time. His offence just hasn't translated to the NHL, he's a perimeter player, he's not physical and doesn't get into the dirty areas. He's a good bottom 6 forward, but that looks like it. He looks like another bad Rangers 1st Rnd pick by Gorton, to go with Lias Andersson & Vitali Kravtsov (remember them?).
@@zenarcher9633 agree to an extent. Cant blame him for Trouba, but can on Mika. The true blame belongs on Bettman and the NHL. This no movement clause s*** is killing the league. It’s a job. You have a family, I get it. But those of us making FAR less than the players, don’t get to start a job and say no matter how sh***y I play, you can’t move me. Negotiating a contract so you aren’t released in the short term is one thing, but 7-8 years? If you don’t like the job, don’t play. No team should have to pay the money they pay the players AND be held accountable for their bad play OR the team just trying to better position itself. It’s not like Trouba isn’t getting paid. Fact is, the FA this year showed how entitled all these players feel they are asking for huge amounts of money and the “clause” is always added…and the icing is, then limiting where the players can go. Bettman keeps expanding the NHL and it’s led to mediocrity in the league and this insane player friendly contracts. And who loses more? The fans. Those paying the crazy prices at MSG. Nothing like when I saw the Rangers win their first cup.
If we are giving Igor 14% of the cap, we will never have the team around him to win the cup. We can celebrate more Presidents Trophies as our "Cup" so that is something I guess.
i dont understand the idea that well have "a lot" of cap space after we sign lindgren and schneider. We have 8 mil in cap right now total, if lindgren get 4 aav and schneider 3 aav we dont have that much left. I doubt these guys have a combined aav lower than 6.5 next season which only leaves us with 1.5.
I dnt understand Drury getting shit from the fans, there was no one on the UFA list that would dramatically turn this team around. Trading is what they need to improve. Putting too much energy into Kakko, he's turned into a nothing player who will eventually get moved or cut
What the hell can we do with him? We're not going to play him on the Zibanejad line very long and if we do and he still doesn't improve/develop then what? We'll trade him for whatever we can get. Maybe we can get one of those 2nd round picks we've traded so frequently back, 🤞best case scenario.
Dump him for his sake . I think he could be another Buchnevich on a team that gives him a chance on the top two lines . He has the talent for sure . The coach can say we need to give a chance but ilike you said if you are not going to use him right trade him .
I love Igor to death but I can't justify giving him more than $10-11M per year. He's the greatest goaltender in the world but he hasn't brought us to the finals yet.

He'll have another year to increase his value. But if Othmann makes the team and excels, and Cuylle improves, there may not be any room for him.

I felt the same until I realized he'll get 12m easy elsewhere and with the cap going up each year its still about 14%...so might as well pay him
If Drury doesn't re-sign Shesterkin by training camp, he should trade him.
