The overtones could be heard so crispy clear, it's ridiculously satisfying.
If there was no video, you could easily convince me there was a high C in those final chords
@@pprudencio1966 The part where they were playing all playing E natural, I was looking at the score and pausing multiple times to look again because I swear I clearly hear a B somewhere.

His part is in C clef 4 (sorry I translated literally from French, in English it seems it is "treble clef G-clef" or tenor clef)
Trombone 1 is in treble clef

Isn't the ending just a more grand version of the opening? I'm asking because I usually listed to the original unchanged version (Bruckner revised his symphonies a lot)

It took me a whole summer finale “get” the Bruckner 8th but the time digesting it paid off handsomely. A monumental epic masterpiece.
Perfecto! Bruckner is one of my genius favorites.
Took me till the 500th replay to realize how much the second part brings down the third so that it’s in tune in those first chords (unison F# -> D maj, unison B -> G maj). Just intonation is crazy

I think this sounds amazing, but I have one question. What's with the way they played the grace notes? I come from a Jazz background, and so maybe it's just different genres doing things differently, but it just feels like they played a 16th followed by the next note for the rest of the measure
It basically means exactly what you're thinking of, but just coordinated at a practical level and as dictated by the conductor. There is interpretation headroom to play the grace notes even quicker if they wanted for sure
Bruckner used these grace notes extensively in his symphonies, especially for the brass section. They’re usually treated as either a 16th note or a 32nd note on the beat (not before the beat)
We're playing those grace notes on the beat, which gives them a slightly different feel from the other 16ths. Any quicker, and they could lose their crispness and make ensemble even more difficult. It's not necessarily that apparent without the rest of the orchestra TBH, but that's what we were trying to do! Glad you liked it, thank you 😊
modulational or what! seems to be Bruckner’s signature to widen the bore of a single intention by rifling it with many tonal changes - if that doesn’t sound too pretentious which it probably does..
Question. What’s the point in notating sixteenth notes and grace notes when they both end up heard the same. Why not keep it consistent along the music for ease in reading?

I guess I’ll b negative Nancy, but no accent on the long notes is heard because of how aggressively you place space around the shorter notes preceding them. Also, no noticeable dynamic change even though several written.

How is it not in line with the score? They’re marked marcato at fortissimo and they’re nailing it!
@@gearaddictclimber2524 absolutely not. Their fortissimo is softer than their fortetissisimo.
Their accents are way stronger than their marcarto and is not even consistent across the entire clip.
Some of that could have been the recording. Also they didn't finish entirely together on some of the long notes
