I almost skipped this one, thinking - I already know all about envelopes - glad I didn't! You ALWAYS learn at least one thing when Kenny puts up a video. Thanks so much Kenny!!!
I love Reaper but have always considered the automation envelope drawing to be clunky and cumbersome to use. After watching this I realize it's because I never knew about shift + click and always just used ctrl + click 🤦♂This is a gamechanger, thanks for the video!
Very useful - will help in my VO work when i have to raise my voice and I'd rather not be over-agressive with the compressor for just 2 or so loud points.
I use these automations a lot when editing older tracks and remastering them, where clicks or pops appear, you can edit them out, even when a guitar amp is having a 50Hz tone in it, cut out the part and when the guitar is played, the guitar masks the 50Hz tone. Fender guitars have this the most, and they should be gated while recording.
Thanks Kenny! Always learn something in each of your vids! I can't get constrained motion up and down or right and left working. Can another preference interfere with those capabilities?
When manually drawn, how to automatically reduce the number of the points but preserve the envelope curve? Is there any good solution? Most of the times these envelopes simply have too much points that are absolutely redundant. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe.
A 5 month too late reply, but you can create a hotkey for "Envelope: Reduce number of selected points by half" and hit it as many times as you want to clean it up

And I thought I knew all about envelopes in reaper. At least 2 new things I learned.
Idea: a toot about types of points in these envelopes.
Kenny strikes again , or rather knocks it outta the park again . Thanks Kenny 😃
Thanks Kenny! You have taught me more than I could ever have imagined. Reaper is great!!
As always writing a comment to support the channel
All these years I am using reaper I always ignored this knob. Not anymore. Thx Kenny
"If you prefer a knob, we could always use this one right here. Now, by default, we have to grab the knob"
Not falling for that one again!
Thank you Kenny !

You could check mouse modifiers in the preference window in the envelope point context iirc
Kenny - This is great! So is it possible to control that automation knob with a physical fader / control surface? If so, where can we find out how?
Nice
👍
I'm having a problem 5 seconds in. There is no envelope button.
