when I saw the NB shoes, I knew I was in the right place to learn about my mower

Only thing I would add is a lot of people say to pull the spark plug before touching anything under the mower. Apparently turning the blades can start the motor. That being said, I wish I had those people’s mower, because if mine started that easy it would be awesome.

I would second this, but also add that if you just stick a piece of 2x4 in there to prevent the blade from moving it can help a lot, especially if you are not strong enough to hold the blade and undo the nut or to give you more leverage to tighten it back down. Awesome video full of great information

You can start the mower by turning the blades as long as the ignition is engaged. The little pull bar on the handles that you have to hold down to start the mower would have to be engaged as well, but for safety. I would agree that you should disconnect the spark plug when you're working on it underneath. You wouldn't need to pull this spark plug out of the engine if it is disconnected from the coil though...

It’s a good mower, slight differences in the couple I’ve seen on here. It’s one of the best I’ve ever had and I plan on keeping it that way as long as possible.gas…I run as much ethanol free as possible and rather than adding additive in the winter, I run all my small engines about once every 8-10 days during the winter. Working out so far. Thx for the video. Your people are lucky to have you around..it looks like they have been working that mower like a rented mule!

Mine is a 2010 model and has a drain plug on the bottom of the engine but I just discovered that the manual suggests tipping it and dumping it out the filler spout. It has a flat head engine instead of the overhead valve one.

My mans phenomenal video, could have used gloves, but i get it you’re a manly man! It’s literally easier than changing your car oil, filter and spark plugs. My first time changing the oil on my lawn mover- same model but it’s going to be a breeze i hope. As i too live in the Midwest! Thanks for the simple and great video, I’m going to overhaul my gfs Toro tomorrow, after I order the parts.😂❤

I have found that replacing spark plugs in mowers in almost never necessary. I have had mowers last 20 years with the same plug. Every year I take it out and clean the terminal with sand paper and put it back in. Twenty years later it was still starting on the first pull. Save some money and save our landfills.

THE TORO OPERATOR'S MANUAL FOR THE 22" RECYCLER LAWN MOWER WITH THE KOHLER ENGINE RECOMMENDS THAT WHEN CHANGING THE BLADE, A TORQUE WRENCH SHOULD BE USED AND THE BOLT SHOULD BE TORQUED AT 60 POUNDS.

A couple of things, try and have as little gas in the tank when you go to do this.... less chance of gas spilling out or mixing with oil. Next, PULL the Spark Plug Wire.... you should never work on an engine that has a chance to combust fuel and begin.... without a spark, you are safe, pull the spark plug wire before maintenance. Lastly, where leather gloves when taking off old blade and putting on the new blade. Safety is key...

I've got an identical mower but slightly newer sticker on the front that tells you the specs but at the bottom of the label it says no oil change required. I think what they meant was no oil change required during the warranty. Because there's no way that they have some special technology that makes the oil stay clean and not trap contaminants that break down the inside of the engine forever!

Ha ya you will mow grass for ur daughter. I have a toro also bought it in April 2019 and since it was a display model I paid only $150 brand new at Home depot been a great mower starts every season. Since then I have never seen a new mower that cheap I think the original price was $369 now they are like $450 so glad I seen it when I did.

    • @ShowMeConstruction
