  • The Harrier was Toyota's first offerong in the premium SUV segment, and together with the early RAV4, which was slightly smaller then, pioneered the move from sedans to SUV.
The early Harriers were grey imports, and they very quickly became popular, and somewhere along the line, UMW Toyota began to import some units, and today you can buy a Harrier from any Toyota dealership.

This video ended quickly, what happened? 😬
I've driven the non turbo 2.0 litre with the cvt, it's comfy and boat like at city to highway speeds. But has significant body roll in the corners and is NOT a sporty or a fast SUV imho. I loved the suspension though as I look for that boat like soft suspension in a big SUV. However, the CVT noise was just too much and i didn't like the acceleration either (felt sluggish). I was disappointed when they stopped giving the V6 of the previous generations to the Harrier because I feel that it's the ideal engine for a vehicle of this size and weight. Love your videos :)

Drove it to genting aswell, handling is good and the brakes are good. It can be slow when it comes to the very steep parts of the route, but honestly people buy this car to not set a new time record or like ur driving an a45 like crazy lol. The comfort is good even when I maintained 180 from Ipoh to selangor. I’ve overtaken it at over 180 with sport mode on, and it surprisingly does well 😂 Nice for long journeys

to be honest the 2.0NA + CVT is a big let down, big enough for me as the potential buyer to walk away after test drive. I eventually bought from UMW the certified pre-own previous generation Harrier with turbo. The handling couldn't make up for the under powered engine. Going up Genting with that kind of high rev + CVT whine noise to the cabin is not premium feel at all, hopefully they put in the 2.4 turbo engine in the facelift.

Most sought after? Lol. For uncles maybe at that price. More cx8 on the roads than harrier for price and space in terms of family and comfort and engine spec.
