14 years ago last month, I adopted a little dog from the Humane Society. I sat him on the living room floor and told him that he was home. All of a sudden, he goes nuts...starts running around in circles, zoomies all over the place. I'll never forget how happy he was to have a home. Please adopt; Don't shop.

@Jared Falk yes I agree and once they're here they have to have a home to I don't like to see him just sitting in the pet shops day-in-day-out in very very very small cages so it is what it is and they need homes to buy just believe in rescuing adopting buying taking care of the fur babies I would like to see Lee and other animal rescue advocates laws and limitation on pet breeders they need to be monitored more closely and only be allowed to breed so many animals and really just one or two breeds not anymore than that they must have verifiable proof Veterinary Care health records Etc I'd like Lee pursue some laws concerning these areas
When I was an teen, we adopted a 2 year old corgi, who wasn't doing good in the shelter. I wanted a puppy, but when we visited him at the shelter, I couldn't have been happier. That was more than 20 years ago. Sam went over the rainbow bridge after 11 years with me and my family and I am so happy, that we could give this dog a good home. He really needed it and we needed him too.
Breeders add to the problem, because some dogs they breed might end up in a shelter. Every person buying from a breeder is a person, who is not getting a dog out of the shelters unfortunately. Please consider giving a pup a home, who already needs one instead of breeding one dog in need of a home.
I'm proud of my parents that they went to a shelter instead of getting me a puppy from a breeder. :)
I'm gonna move apartments soon and will finally be able to have a dog companion again. Whoop! One dog less in the shelters!

I've long had a soft spot for brindle coats -- I find the contrasting colors simply gorgeous -- but I find Ralph's specific pattern to be unbelievably striking. He seems like such a sweet pup, too. These wonderful people who adopt these animals are true heroes with the biggest of hearts. The joy that young lady felt when hearing of the adoption is so heartwarming.

I couldn't agree more! My big guy is sleeping next to me right now as a matter of fact. I don't know what I'd do without him. The irony, when we got him we were told that they thought he was a boxer and wouldn't get much bigger than a boxer! Imagine out surprise when he kept growing...and growing...and well you get the idea.
My sister's Cane Carso was a 110 pound dog who velcroed herself to my lap. She's been gone for 10 years now and I still smile and shake my head when I think about her making herself as small as possible and curling up in my lap. So sweet!

Their little Maltese is a boss too man.. No weirdness, no fear, just happily greeted and welcomed a new dog thats big enough to literally eat him.. very well adjusted.

I don't think dogs are terribly aware of things like size. I had a dachshund as a kid who clearly considered herself my personal bouncer, and a small terrier mix who had a whole Romeo and Juliet thing going on with the ginormous german shepherd next door. Theirs was the tragic story of a love that could never be, mainly because they don't make stepladders for dogs. 🐈
As long as he doesn't get his little face pushed out because of the arrival of a new dog, he was there first and I hope they still endow the same amount of love on him. I think my dog would be pretty jealous if I got another one.
@@Viv1398 Our little minnpinn was actually super jealous when we got our big black lab. But once he realized he's still the only lap dog, he was alright with it. Plus he ran the show, he was the older brother. It didn't take him long to realize a 130 pound bodyguard following him around wasn't all that bad. 😁

I love the reaction of the family's other dog when he meets Ralph. Hes so little but he's not scared of Ralph one bit! When I see a well-adjusted small dog like that, I guess that the owners are great, because it's so easy for small dogs to end up neurotic and unsocialized, with people tolerating them barking and biting, in the way they'd never tolerate it in a big dog. Nice family; Ralph got lucky - and so did they. He's a sweet big boy.

Great observation. Small dogs can many times be difficult when it comes to bringing new dogs into the home.
"Yeah, mommy we're getting Ralph!" The more Mastiff the better. Renaming him "Asher" after his rescuer is a tribute to the love that they all feel for this beautiful brindle soul.
In these difficult times we’re in, we all need stories like this to bring a smile to our faces. Ralph is a beautiful animal that will bring such joy to that wonderful family.

The most beautiful man in the world who completely stole my heart because he loves animals as much as i! I am so grateful to have found a real partner and our life of rescuing and raising pups in need is the most beautiful experience of my life. I marvel at my luck, everyday.
I love seeing him get on that bed next to her and then started playing. It's as if he suddenly realised that he's home with great people. Up until then, he was trying not to show how nervous he was, but he's got such an expressive face it was clear to see. Also clear to see when that moment of realisation came - though I think it was foreshadowed by the peanut butter treat!

There's a book series about a little boy and his mastiff for beginning readers. My ESL kids loved them. When they heard me read about a Cockney character in a Harry Potter book who spoke without h. They wanted to sound like that. So they read, " 'enry
and ' enry's mutha took Mugde to the Vet." I nearly fell out of my chair! They were very sincere that they sounded Cockney. 😏

My first dog was a brindle pit mix, as sweet as any dog I've ever known. We had several over the next few years, but my Mom had visited a pet shop and an elkhound picked her out.
Since then we got a second when Grey passed, a third (a retired show dog, about seven years old) when Moose passed, and after my Mom passed, I brought Baldurdash home to keep Aani company in her declining years, We're down to just 'Dash and me now, and in addition to being the best wing-man I could hope for, he's a very effective heating pad and therapy dog: He's determined to drive me into therapy.
His homecoming was great... Just walked right in the door and started snooping around. Seeing him wag his tail so joyfully and settling into his bed was so heartwarming.
Lee and Sydney are just so fantastic, generous and truly remarkable people! They literally walk the talk - their goals in terms of animals and their welfare are paramount!

Love these stories....four years ago out of nowhere I received a link in my inbox to a Rottie rescue society with one dog, a 2-year-old who had been through two owners and had spent 4 months in a shelter. I had lost my Rottie and Shepherd four years earlier and wasn't thinking about getting another one. I filled out an application anyway, and during the 4-day trial, we bonded like best friends, and he's been my working partner ever since.
He runs a very large ranch, putting in 12 hour days, keeping coyotes and cougars away, herding cattle, chasing deer....and he absolutely loves it... and i couldn't do it without him.
Watch Ralph's transformation when he realizes he has a forever home. What a different dog ! He's finally happy 🐾🐾
Seeing him transformed in the end and how genuinely happy he is just warmed my heart and made my day. So grateful to the rescuers for going through the trouble to find him a wonderful, loving furever home. Go Ralph/Asher!!

There could be so many more stories just like this, if the people that watch this go to their local animal shelter more often and spend a little time with the dogs there. Fostering is a great way to help just as much as adoption. We have a bulldog mix that was hit by a car that we foster and he makes chewbacca noises all the time. Its hilarious. He is still available in South Carolina. Hes still looking for his forever home. His name is Gunner.

Ralph looks like a tough one but he seems so sweet and gentle when the dude feed him at first aww my heart~ people always tend to underestimate huge big dogs & idk why~ they have feelings & emotions too~ ❤
They are big bundles of fluff to begin with and owners really don't do any research on the dog about full height and weight.
It either is too big for the home or too expensive to look after or haven't got the time to raise it.
If you are thinking ever to raise a dog in the family you need to know three things. Love, time, money.
Love: Have you got the heart for affection, being dependent of you and giving all your emotions to the dog?
Time: Have you got the time to care, discipline, train and exercise your dog on a 1 on 1 basis? If you do not think you can't do any one of them then consider another animal.
The most important is money...From the time you adopt your dog to it's death you need to make sure out of all your outgoings you have enough left for the dogs personal spending money. Furnishings(What's needed not what's in fashion!), interactive items(As a PUPPY you get every interactive item possible, squeaky, chewable, pulling or tugging toys, mouthing toys(when they start to chew everything in the house) and chewys as I call them.
As the dog gets older you know what the dog likes doesn't like.
Food what the dog likes doesn't like again get wet and dry food and you can always take it back to the shop if not needed.
Walking equipment: Collar, Lead(get a chain or a rope lead and rod lead(where the lead free wheels as the dog walks on or you walk on(this are ideal for working dogs) and a coat(For Winter)
If You have a husky (Do not bath it or wash it as it damages its core fur(insulating fur) That keeps it warm in winter. If you do then you need a coat for the dog.
These are not dogs, these are your Son/Daughter Brother/Sister.

This is how everyone should be when they get a new pet. I feel like people are only like this when they buy a dog online or through breeder. It's so f***** up. I am so impressed and proud and choked up over this and the people involved to help Ralph! This is what humankind needs to do everywhere.
Awww I love his name Asher! Perfect for him. I love him. I have a Mastiff mix. She is by far the sweetest most gentle baby girl (85 lbs). Shy takes care of the smaller dogs and she is two years old but she thinks she is small in size and she thinks she is still a baby
