    1. how to designate a location on your computer to import photos
    2. how to create a Collection in Lightroom to help organize and sort your photos in Lightroom Classic
    3. how to name your photos with custom names for your current project

    I have watched nearly all of your lessons, this one several times. It has been the best experience in learning. I was so apprehensive with LrC, it was so intimidating. You have broken it down into bite-size pieces so I can understand and implement what I have learned. Thank you for allowing a newbie photographer to be able to learn in such a simple to understand language.

    I really appreciated this video. thanks Michael. Even though the Adobe support documentation is very good, I sometimes get frustrated and just jump into the software and try to work it out by myself. However, your advice regarding which settings are best and why, are much appreciated. I found it easy to mostly listen to your soundtrack whilst following along and working through the LrC program whilst listening. I especially appreciate that you don't talk too fast, like some of your fellow countrymen do ! here in the UK we often struggle with rapid spoken instructions. Good teaching pace, thanks very much.

    Hi Michael, I just found your tutorials here on YT. I'm having an issue and wanted to ask you a question. I wanted to import old, captioned tiff files so I can refresh the look of some images. After importing I'm losing all the titles and descriptions (keywords are still in place). I'll be happy if you help me with this... Thanks. Henryk.

    • @MSladekPhoto
      @MSladekPhoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Henrik! Welcome to the channel, glad you found me. This is a really great question, that I do not have an answer to. I see that Lightroom has a field in metadata for "Title" and "caption" so that data should be preserved on import. I wonder if the program that was used to generate the title and caption is labelling those fields in a way LR does not recognize? I did a brief online search on the topic, and found this possible answer on Adobe forums: community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/titles-tags-captions-deleted-from-files-on-import-to-lr/m-p/9992749 Good luck out there!!!

    I am new to editing in Lightroom and have loads of unedited photos on an external harddrive, where I would prefer to keep them instead of having them stored on the computer. I guess it is just a matter of selecting another destination/location in the relevant process step of this tutorial or am I confused?

    • @MSladekPhoto
      @MSladekPhoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Bettina! Yes, you can save your photos to an external drive (either as you import in Lightroom, or before) and then point Lightroom to their location. This is what I do, as I my photos take up more space than the internal drive on my laptop. Hope that helps!

    How do you import photos from one drive to Lightroom classic

    • @MSladekPhoto
      @MSladekPhoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Donna! I don't use One Drive, so I am unable to directly answer your question. However, since One Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox all work the same and are synchronized to a cloud service, I can recommend this - don't import photos from a drive that's synchronized to a cloud service. Lightroom "needs" the photos to always be in same place on a local/static drive (can be an external drive - that's what I do.) Best wishes!

      @@MSladekPhoto I hope so too. But as of this evening I haven’t been lucky enough. I simply wanted someone to teach me how to import pictures into Lightroom from the desktop and the other video I watched claimed they’d teach the viewer how to import from the desktop, but changed their mind to teach how into import straight from the memory card. My pictures weren’t on a memory card... they were on my desktop.

    • @MSladekPhoto
      @MSladekPhoto  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The process for importing from desktop or memory card is almost exactly the same. The main difference is the source you choose. So, for source, at at top left of Import window, choose “Other Source” after clicking on the “From...” Then, navigate to location or your photos. If you don’t want a new copy of the photos to be organized by Lightroom, choose “Add” from the options in the middle top of the Import window. Hope that helps!
